The Travel Plus brochure has been in the star for years. Great interview with Russell Paine, The Pain in Spain. What a nightmare that venture turned into.

SS still always a great Speedway mag and value for money with subscription. Our only available dedicated Speedway Magazine and still some people knock it - usually because of daily social media and forums. Postal subscription by far the most reliable and consistent.
-
Maybe, but it's nice to have the memories.
-
Why?
-
Would expect K Bjerre to top the averages, therefore guests would weaken us, RR much more so. Not sure UK travel costs come into it - Plymouth to Peterborough is not even half way to Glasgow. Also assume KB would often be travelling from various European meetings, rarely from Huntingdon. All assumptions but would think KB would cost more.
-
In the PL and available every week it's a no brainer. It's the availability that makes the difference, if a regular we should be amongst it - Guests and RR much weaker. Amazed if we can afford KB but not Barker - maybe different sponsorship options.
-
One of today's comics states Panthers in talks with K Bjerre.

My comment was as said, my guess!!! V a statement.

Please share the evidence of the no plan you have access to. Building a team must be based on numerous permutations, in addition to conflicting race nights, double up and all teams seeking the bargain average. Plan A can quickly turn to B, C, Z. My guess is they have a plan. Perfect example of a long term issue with averages. A season of good progress often results in decreasing future opportunities and potentially riding yourself out of a job. S Lambert proved a great team man and produced match winning performances and rightly voted rider of the season. Typical speedway rules dictate the fine line between progress v a victim of your own success.

Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

No worries. No offence taken. Still think you need to embrace the 'play offs'. ) -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

CM thanks for the response. TWK, why the need to appear sarcastic? It doesn't suit. Understand this is a passionate subject to you and your dislike of play offs. We all have our opinions - mine was based on viewing it from both sides, as I changed my mind. In response to your question: My comment was as stated, in my opinion. Peterborough, Birmingham, Swindon, Eastbourne, Edinburgh, Scunthorpe have benefited greatly from play offs when fighting survival with limited budgets. The attendance at Peterborough 2006 final was +4 times that of 1999 - resulting in red to black. They finished top of the league - but my understanding is the play offs saved the day. What a great day it was, even though I dislike 'it's a knockout' as much as TWK 😉 -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

Agree Sidney, the sport would survive at some level. However, in my opinion I strongly believe the play offs has saved clubs from closure. Surely that is a huge positive in favour. Never thought I would say that when first introduced. As previously stated I now don't look at it as who finishes top - making the playoffs is the objective. -

Chaps / Chapettes, it's all getting a tad personal due to strong differing opinions. Sometimes a debate loses the subject and becomes a 'must win' argument, as most threads do on this forum. Presenting facts from both sides will rarely convert ones preference - this discussion is now at a stalemate regarding Individual preference v benefits to our sport. The positive is we all view this forum because we have a common desire - Speedway. When first introduced I was not in favour of play offs. I didn't like the idea of a team finishing 4th crowned league champions. However, I strongly believe the play offs have contributed greatly to saving clubs from extinction. The 'die hards' will always continue to support their team - but there are not enough of us left to make it pay. Fans are fickle, certainly at my team Peterborough - many will only attend a meaningful meeting. Therefore I now look at it differently, it's now all about qualifying for the end of season showdown - not who finishes top. -
Sky+ was made for speedway. Record and fast forward usually saves 2 hours of my life per meeting - and I do like watching it on 'big telly'!!!

Surprised BT have resorted to such underhand actions. Guess they are desperately trying to recoup the champions league billions - but struggling. Someone on an unofficial forum stated they have been reported to the ombudsman. Their broadband is the quickest in my area therefore can't leave. How did we ever survive without Wiffy. All very disappointing - I enjoyed telling them to stuff their BT Sports.
-
I'm well miffed BT now have the GP's. Took out a new BT contract for broadband and landline, advised BT Sport is free (paid £3 month last contract). After a week of no sports channel called again, oh sorry sir you don't have BT TV therefore £5 per month, oh you want HD that will total £11 per month. BT Sport is free! Lying gits!!!
-
If I were the source and told something in confidence - doubt I would be too chuffed personal and confidential information was shared on a public forum.
-
Pleased to hear you draw your conclusion having discussed with all parties concerned - would have been disappointed if you had just picked a random number. I asked Robert!!!! Yet another alias from our resident loony me thinks

Can you prove it was Peterborough's doing or are you speculating and spreading rumours? 😉

Open Season On Nicki
Hodgy replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Liar, ringleader, bully, cringy, hate. That's nothing like the Hancock I see and am astonished you feel such animosity towards a genuine nice guy. His competitors appear to have nothing but respect and admiration for the man. Maybe you know something I don't or just don't like nice people. -

I'm amazed at the number of likes for this post and negativity towards HANcock - but respect we all have opinions. In my opinion NP is not a hard rider, he's dirty and crosses the line. He doesn't have the speed he used to therefore resorts to desperation, win at all costs tactics that to me are often too dangerous. Ride the track not the man - this is not demolition derby. Recent conflict with Hancock, Johnson, Zager, Iversen, Gollob, Emil, Nicholls, Holder, Doyle, Ward, Woffinden, Batchelor, Masters etc.... They know what it's like out there far more than most of us. Can they all be wrong? -

Don't give up the day job!!! -
What a great race track - Speedway at its very best. Belle Vue replicate this track. Tai odds on to be WC, top 3 decided, top 8 decided, no Poles in sight - maybe contributed to the crowd shortfall.
