Ipswich V Edinburgh 25/7/13
em1500uk replied to Ipswich Jules's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How is that a problem for me might I ask? As I've said before, he's just passionate about fighting his corner that's all. I'm sure there are other fans on here that may well do the same thing, only not on here, but in a face to face debate with someone. -

Sorry London Witch. I know Young51 personally and rest assured, he is no troll. He's just passionate about fighting his corner! I can't comment on the goings on at the meeting on Thursday as I wasn't there... I did read a post from earlier (haven't read them all as there's too many to catch up on ) where someone thought Barker may just be studying a team and picking out a weakeness and exploiting it or whatever you like to call it. If that is what he's doing, then fair play I guess, as it worked on Cook on Thursday! -
You mean the Epstein Barr virus that he got diagnosed with last year? (see here) I had wondered if that was part of his problems, what with depression and so on being connected to it. He will be receiving a lot of stick right now from several corners (and it's no real surprise to be fair!) but I really don't think that he can become a bad rider overnight and that there is something seriously wrong somewhere along the lines and that there is more to all of this than meets the eye. I like Rory. He's a racer and he can be brilliant. He has the ability, but where it's gone to right now, I haven't got a clue!

Terrible. Pig sick of the injury plague. I am fast losing interest in our season as time goes by... The signing of Lasse lifted my spirits as at least he's entertaining to watch, but now with Porsing's injury to add to our previous injury woes, I've just been bought down to earth again! I am actually starting to wish this season away...

Don't know how I missed that as I follow the bloke LOL! Oh well. Thanks for clearing that up! All the best to Steve (I did know about that ) I'm sure this team place at Redcar will be worthwhile move. -

Ah righto! Wonder when he picked up this shoulder problem? He rode in the last home meeting, but maybe he's ridden for Somerset since and that's where this problem has come from? -

As far as I know, Robert Lambert is doing all of the home fixtures and 2 away meetings from memory... I'll be there, like I have been for most NL meetings this season. Shame that Lewis Rose is missing as he's been pretty exciting to watch. Take it he's still recovering from that tumble he had whilst riding for Somerset at Rye House a few weeks back? -
The Terminator Joins Scunthorpe
em1500uk replied to T.N.T.'s topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes. Michael Palm Toft has been released. Think he just stepped in as a last minute change maybe due to Ashley Birks sustaining an injury whilst guesting for Leicester on Saturday night. All the best to Nicolai Klindt at Scunthorpe. Might even head back up there at some point for a nosey. I was really looking forward to seeing him race for the Stars this year, but sadly that didn't last too long! I hope he gets his mojo back and returns to the top flight at some point. He's a far better rider than what he has been this season. Least he's prepared to admit he thinks his problem is a psychological one! -

Just thought I'd post this here as Lewis Rose has reported how he is on Twitter a few hours ago... @Rose822: "Thanks to everyone for the messages. After loadsa x-rays and unsure but I haven't broke my hip just real bad muscle damage. Thanks." What a relief! And well done to the Rebels for taking a point away with them -
I'm one of the people currently getting a bit fed up with guests and R/R and infrequent fixtures! Then again, I am now filling the gaps with other fixtures, like going to watch our NL team plus I go to see meetings at Peterborough as a neutral from time to time and go to PL tracks like Leicester and Ipswich if I can. Then again, I'm lucky enough to be able to afford to do that, but many others probably can't. I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with the EL, but I did prefer the amount of fixtures that the PL seemed to give us.
-
Kerr, Lambert and Rose = Team Norfolk I wouldn't mind a drop back into the PL. I miss the PL days anyway and have done ever since we went into the EL. I go to Leicester and Ipswich on an odd occasion just to see some PL racing. Already made trips to both this season and will probably continue to do so. All in all, I don't think I'd care what league we were in, so long as we had a team of triers and we were competitive.
-
I believe this to still be the case, yes. Michael Lee helped him out towards the end of last season and that's where we saw him score better. As I say, think that partnership is still in place.
-
After seeing him at Leicester yesterday I said the exact same thing. He can be a bit up and down in his scoring, but he normally gets about 6 points home and away from what I saw for Lakeside this year.

Daniel Nermark? Erm. He's out injured still himself at present. Broken bones in his hand after a crash in Poland several weeks ago. He hasn't ridden in Poland or Sweden for weeks! I seriously doubt it's him. I think he may well have burnt his bridges last season in all fairness. I personally wish he hadn't as I'm still #TeamNermark till the end (LOL!) but I really don't think he'll be back over here to race for us ever again. What?!?! Right. If that's true, get the Fish over to us pronto! That would spice things up a lot wouldn't it now And it would annoy some people something chronic which would be very amusing! The man gives 100% for whoever he rides for and I really don't think he's the big bad villian that a lot of people seem to think he is. Anyway, I'm starting to think the Bech suggestion can't end up being true. Esbjerg's Danish fixtures clash with ours too often on a Wednesday. Esbjerg already miss having Niels on several occasions, so I doubt they'll want Mikkel missing lots too. Eastbourne have a space needing to be filled (Adam Shields) so perhaps he'll head there? Or maybe it is Peterborough he's going to as he's worked with Jan Staechmann before? (Excuse the spelling of his surname if it is wrong!) When Staechmann was at Swindon, Bech came over for a few meetings then, so it would make sense... Rob Lyon quote from the EDP report today: “As always, there’s a lot of rumours around on social media about various riders that we are now trying to sign and loads of names are flying about. All I can say it it’s something we are working on, it’s not easy, but we’re working really hard to achieve what we’re after.” So, make of that comment what you will ladies and gentlemen! He's playing his cards close to his chest

Simon rode tonight for Sheffield at Rye House and managed to stay out of trouble so it seems. He scored 9 points. I think he'll be OK for Wednesday. Mads' fixture for Ostrow in the Polish I Liga has been called off tomorrow and rearranged for this coming Friday instead. Niels' fixture for Gorzow tomorrow has also been called off. No rearranged date yet. Although, Rory and Simon both have meetings in Poland tomorrow in I Liga and II Liga that are still in place and not affected by rain so far, so we'll have to keep an eye on those two, but fingers crossed that they do stay out of trouble!

I think anyone who thinks Seb 'golden gates' Alden should leave must be on crack or something Bar the 0 he got at Lakeside and the 3+1 he got at Wolverhampton (both of which were slightly disappointing) he's been a revelation, in fact, I'd go as far as to say that he's been our hero and saviour on several occasions, particularly at home in the latter stages of a meeting. Going up into the top 5 is a big step up for him from riding at reserve. Right now, he's done his best, and that's all we can ask for.
-
Can kinda see where you're coming from in terms of offering more. Before he got injured last season he did look good and we know what he can score. He has had a lengthy spell out after breaking his leg (think that's what happened to him?) so he might take a while to get going. I'd rather have someone who knows the tracks over here racing for us rather than taking a big chance on a completely new rider who's never been round the EL circuits before looking at it that way. Oh and by the way, nice canary
-
Good luck to Nicolai He's definitely got the ability, I just hope he gets his confidence back! And as for Andersson, I thought he looked a shadow of his former self when Poole was at the NA a few weeks back... Then again, he might fit in well with his fellow countryman Sebastian Alden.
-
That's what I was told after the meeting last night anyway. Apparently that was announced but I never heard!
-
I stand corrected about David Howe. Seems he is going to try and get to Wolverhampton on Monday after riding for Scunthorpe. Scunthorpe meeting starts at 3pm and should end at about 5pm so he might just make it.
-
I don't get why people are so surprised either! This is how the EL has been for a few years now. Can only see more of it happening myself.
-
Just realised that both Howe and Worrall should be missing for our away meeting against Wolves on Monday. Both Newcastle and Scunthorpe racing that day...
-
Neither do I. All these team changes are getting a bit much so early on in the season. I mean, we only started league racing a month ago and already the axe has been swung twice. I'd just love to end a season with the team we actually started with! The only reason I can see David Howe coming in is to just keep Richie at reserve for longer. I think I'd rather have him at reserve for a bit longer rather than have him at 2 or 4. With Seb and his 'golden gate' moments, I'm not too concerned about him being in the main body for a while. All this is a bit hard on Nicolai as a stint at reserve may have have been what he needed, but at the same time, looking back to last Wednesday's heat 14 where he just seemed to shut off in the first turn, that alone makes you wonder if he would've scored anything in a reserve berth? May be he would. May be wouldn't. I'd like to think he would've done, but obviously the club didn't feel they had enough time to wait around and see and give him chance. They're certainly more ruthless this season than they have been in the past 2 EL seasons and I'm not so sure I like that myself. Then again, I am a woman with sentiments, and apparently this is why they're not team managers (or so I was told on Twitter)...by a man of course LOL! I seriously hope that Nicolai finds somewhere else to race as I have no doubt that he has the ability to do well. Just feel he's lost his way at the moment and is going through a bad patch. I myself can't really make out from the press release if David Howe coming in for Nicolai is a temporary move or a permanent move for the rest of the season? If it is temporary, and in light of Daniel Nermark's name being mentioned, I think he's out injured at present after having a fall this Saturday just gone in Poland whilst racing for Stal Gorzow. Think he may have a metacarpal fracture, least that's what I can make out from SportoweFakty's website...
