Lets see now, who wants a bigger Elite League ? ,Sky TV ,Elite League Promoters and fans, Would some of the riders [ it might interfere with their lucrative foreign commitments a bit ] Now who wants the Premier League to stay as it is ? Everyone connected with the Premier League Why,because it is a far better product and league setup [ apart from the poxy KOC [up] Rules  ] At the moment as the Leagues are i wouldn't want my team Sheffield to go EL. In a perfect world however i wouldn't mind a League setup where costs are more sensible and the World Class riders are shared out more [ Say one per team as John Perrin suggested - blimey i can't believe i agree with him on something ]But i can never see some certain clubs agreeing to this [ the ones that wanted an ' Elite' League in the first place] At the moment there are 8 Elite Clubs, 18 Premier, and 13 Conference. I'd like to see 12 Elite, 16 Premier and 12 Conference. Maybe like this ???? :- Elite League Belle Vue,Coventry,Eastbourne,Ipswich,King's Lynn,Oxford,Peterborough,Poole,Sheffield,Swindon, Wolverhampton,Workington. Premier League Arena Essex,Berwick,Boston,Edinburgh,Exeter,Glasgow,Hull,Isle of Wight,Newcastle,Newport,Reading,Rye House,Somerset,Stoke,Trelawny,Wimbledon. Conference League Buxton,Carmarthen,Mildenhall,Newcastle,Newport,Oxford, Peterborough,Rye House,Sheffield,Swindon,Weymouth,Wolverhampton. If the Elite League was watered down slightly to make the massive gap in the leagues closer then it shouldn't be too difficult to have promotion and relegation for the top Premier Club and bottom Elite League club. That WOULD make fixtures interesting to the end of the season.I'm sure if the Promoters could forget about their fixation with C.M.A's ,Rolling Averages,Pink Sheets,Green Sheets [ seven sheets - to the wind ] or whatever for just one season, get around a table and sort it out for the good of the sport. The trouble is too many promoters are only in it for themselves or their own club,so i don't hold out any hope of this pipedream. :x

British GP - An honest opinion
Philip Addison replied to ezekiel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sorry if anyone's already mentioned it,as i haven't read every posting on the GP threads but did anyone else spot any riders in the crowd. I'm sure i saw Phil Morris, the camera was on him for a good 4 or 5 seconds. -
Crumpie tantrum?
Philip Addison replied to Bulldog's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think you are right on this point Maggie. After watching tonights GP i am getting sick and tired of every time there's a referees decision Millard says " That's a controversial decision " He does it every single time. It's as if they WANT controversy more than anything else. [ Bit like some of the immature prats on this forum lately sadly :x ] -

And the tension here in Sheffield is really building up in front of the Telly. I bet it's a lot more exciting than than boring old Cardiff -

GP on Channel 4
Philip Addison replied to Tina's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought i saw it advertised somewhere the other day as 7 am Saturday morning.I've just looked in the TV guide and all that it says for this time slot is Transworld Sport for one hour.So unless this was it ,sorry can't help.It does seem that Channel 4's commitment to Speedway isn't erm shall we say ...that great.Thank god for Sky. -
Really chap, get into the 21st century will ya?! I don't like to hear swearing but neither does my husband - the point is that my ears are no more 'delicate' than a man's and I'm not going swoon because someone said the 'f' word!!! :x  Well i'd just like you to come and stand with us at Sheffo then and not complain.I guarantee you'd be tutting and whinging like a good un.I'm the quiet one in the group [apart from getting involved in one or two riots ! ] it's just that i have been brought up properly and know where and when to behave correctly.I do swear at women if they happen to be bitches, and i've met one or two.In this world you have to give as good as you get,but treat people with respect. What goes around comes around.I think you should treat people as you would expect them to treat you.Iam in the 21st century, it's just that you can't please everyone all of the time it seems.

I remember that night and that crash even now it was horrible.Phil went through the 3rd - 4th bend fence right in front of us as we'd gone there to shelter from the rain. His leg was pointing the wrong way and at the time it was one of the worst things i'd seen in Speedway.Phil Crump was class,so i don't know where Jason gets his tantrums from.

There's a difference tho. This forum is obviously in the public domain or arena. Crumpy had moved himself ,as he though,t out of the public arena into the car park. Now I am not exactly condoning his language BUT Sky also bear a very heavy responsiblity here. Have you considered that Crumpy moved to the car park so as not to possibly let himself down whilst very upset. Maybe next time he should lock himself in the gents toilet, no doubt the cameraman will mount the pan in the next cubicle and point the camera over the wall. And what about him effing and blinding all over the place in front of BlackKnights children last year at Ipswich then ? If he didn't want to be seen he should have gone into his motorhome or van or whatever. The guys obviously got a problem and while he's like this i hope he never comes a million years near winning a World Championship. It'll be a sad day for sportsmen. [ remember them ??? ]

It's all well and good accepting praise and plaudits when things are going well, but you have to take the other side of it too.Plenty of other riders or sportsmen and women do !!! I feel this is like the kid we all used to know in the playground who used to take his ball home if he wasn't getting passed to enough or was losing.Sorry but i don't like or respect people like this, just my opinion. -
Crumpy rides speedway for a living. Therefore whether he is at a league match or a GP, he is at work Yeah but theres one big difference.I do it with mates who aren't offended and as i said not in front of the public or women and kids.I wouldn't blink an eye if i heard all sorts of language in say the dressing room but this wally did it to the camera with thousands of people watching who didn't deserve to be told F*** Off. What i can't understand as well is this.On this forum at times we have had one or two younger members way out of order who have used foul language, some have even been banned. Now when a rider does the same thing [ ie : act like a no - brainer with bad language involved ] some people come on and defend him ! Oh well it's so and so and i like him as a rider so it's ok then.Hypocrisy me thinks

Good Point Shazzybird.Everyone is different, some people love to be loved, some don't like all the limelight but just get on with things and some always feel the whole world is against them.I think JC fits into this last description. As you say, perhaps it fires him up more. -
Might??!!! Thought he'd been known as that for years!! Do agree though..pressure or not, this guy is supposed to be a top class sportsman who should know how to take the good with the bad. Hardly marked him out as the consummate professional whatever the circumstances - all he had to do was get up and walk away. Ah well you see Rabbit we are very quiet, reserved and unassuming in Sheffield i didn't know about this nickname On the subject of this so called 'shocking' intrusion by Sky, if he wanted to be alone he should have gone into his motorhome where he wouldn't have had to swear at anyone. We have seen many examples of riders ' losing it ' on Sky.Boycie hitting Gollob,Gollob smashing the fluorescent light with his gloves leaving the track in another GP,Nicki Pedersen shouting at himself every other week,Chris Neath effing and blinding in front of the camera in the Swindon v Arena Essex match after being excluded,Shane Parker saying'Thank you very much MASTER Bates [ with emphasis on Master ] to ref Mick Bates [thought this one was funny though ] these are just off the top of my head. You can't blame Sky if these things happen, what do you want, a 9 pm watershed on Speedway ? With this particular incident with Crump i just found it rather pathetic behaviour,if you notice he even seemed to be blaming his dad in the pits before the tantrum.Swearing at the camerman was totally out of order and he should apologize but will he ? I admit i swear myself at work but i can keep myself in check and don't do it in front of women or children, theres a time and a place and Mr Crump should remember this and try and keep his emotions in check more.

Disappointed, yes. Crying, and swearing at the camera, no way! This man loses any fans he's got left by the minute. No wonder the cameraman kept focusing on him, he probably couldn't believe what he was witnessing. Exactly LW. No excuse for behaving like a pratt even if you are one.As for his chances going,do you see Mark Loram or Scott Nicholls crying or refusing to face the cameras ? No. They are taking their misfortunes like men while poor Cwumpie Wumpie diddums is hard done to all the time. He'd better watch it or he might inherit a new nickname, 'The Ginger Whinger'

Crumpie tantrum?
Philip Addison replied to Bulldog's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Highlight of a pretty drab GP. At the risk of sounding ' unbalanced ' ! Check this out.If you were told before the GP that two top riders would be eliminated and one would take it in good grace laughing and joking with his pit crew, and the other would skulk away like a spoilt little brat sulking with his hands over his face only looking up at the camera to say f*** off. Then you were told one was Rickardsson and one was Crump and had a quick straw poll as to which one was which,i don't think there'd be any surprises.Just par for the course with Crump.Probably getting to him that Sullivan is doing better than him too -
Boy i wish i could see it too.Shawn and Kelly were and still are my two all time favourite riders.I doubt if i will ever see anyone so naturally gifted and exciting to watch as long as i live and follow speedway. When Shawn first joined Sheffield [ in the old yellow and black leathers - remember them anyone ? ] i just couldn't believe the things he used to do on a bike.I'd go home from a meeting buzzing.I know this sounds daft to some people, but i first started watching speedway in 75 and this was in the early 80's, but i believe my great love for speedway came mostly from watching Shawn in those early meetings, hooked for life !!! Kelly too was a joy to watch, his balance was unreal and he used to get in some incredible contortions on the bike [ bit like Frank Smart but better ! ] I have a few souvenirs, race jackets etc but my special one is Kelly's old blue Arai helmet [ complete with stone chips] It only cost me £35, a bargain,it was either this one or Ivan Maugers open face black one with white checks on,i didn't have to think twice !!!!! I wish i had a race jacket belonging to either. On the subject of Kelly's accidents i think the person [ sorry can't remember who said it ] is getting a bit mixed up.The fall in America was when Kelly was roofing i believe and the fall through the plate glass door was in a Polish Hotel. It was only the quick thinking actions of Chris Morton applying a tourniquet to Kelly's wrist that saved what could have been a tragedy. It really saddens me that Shawn never came back to say goodbye at Sheffield.I don't blame him,i don't know the reasons.Maybe he didn't feel comfortable with it or has never been asked.I'd just like to thank him for the enjoyment he gave me watching him ride all over the country.

um if this helps, a quid is about the equivalent of a dollar 50. Which leads to another topic, Say no to the euro Too right Matt mate People should wake up before its too late and realise it's not just about having a different currency in your pocket but giving up 1,000 years of constitution. This is why Blair won't tell us the truth and have a referendum [ and i made the mistake of voting for the son of a ***** ] -

I've just had a look because i wouldn't mind a nice T.Ricky t shirt as does someone else i know,BUT WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP :x The t- shirts all have the same action shot on with only the name different, and best of all they can't even get the riders names correct. Apparently it's Greg HANCOOK , damn i must have been calling him by the wrong name for years !!! What a sad indictment when the official SGP souvenir supplier cant even get the riders names right. It says the new supplier is top Swedish Sports clothes company NeH. Looks more like some East End Market Barrow Boy has done the job lot [ by the way where is Mr Russell ??? ] Don't buy this rubbish it will only encourage them, make them produce better stuff, this merchandise is B*ll***s [ Ballderdash for our younger members ]
