Touche ? Or Douche !!! I have my personal reasons for saying what i did about handicapped people, suffice to say i'm not going to argue with you on here about it. The only thing i will say is im sure parents with a handicapped child will take great comfort in the fact the Spastics Society was renamed years ago, when they hear the usual prejudices in everyday society. I fail to see your original analogy at all anyway. I wasn't the only person.'Nicki Pedersen rides like a burning spastic' , nope sorry, still don't get it.If i was wrong about an upcoming accident then i apologize to you.You could have put it differently though.'Nicki is going to pork it,and when he does he's going to pork it large, and he won't get any sympathy from me' On here in the last 2 years i've read various postings about this rider or that rider being ' dirty',some from my team, and things like 'He's going to get his comeuppance'.Sometimes i get the feeling people wish a rider to get hurt, just to prove them right.I can't understand that.Especially after the terrible injuries to some riders around the world this season and last.As i said if i got hold of the wrong end of the stick on this point then i apologize. -

My post was actually agreeing with you.Don't know why you saw sarcasm in it,beats me.Are you not used to people agreeing with you ? I also found your comments about spastics disgusting [ maybe you ought to have one as a son eh ? ] Who gives a rubbish about John Lennon ? And i can't understand ANYONE who professes to have an interest in Speedway wanting to see anyone get hurt.I'll steer well clear of your posts in future, thank yow viry muuuuuch :? -

Rolling starts in Grand Prix

What a daft idea, sorry. It would just be open season, a lottery, and an invite for the cheats to prosper. ' Let me see now, lets see if i can jump and pull so and so through the tapes - then i'll have more room to drop it on rider x into the first corner - jobs a good un !!!! ' Someone else suggested the start marshals should make the riders sit nearer the tapes and if anyone rolls back then they are OUT.This is a much better idea.Cut the cheating out. -

I've already posted my thoughts on the crash but i'd just like to say something on the Addict,Kevin Hammond theme. These are two of the most sensible thoughtful and respected posters on here.If one or two others had posted in this context i think you could look at it in a different light, but to me it just shows one thing. We are all different and everyone deals with circumstances differently. One example of this was the pit shot just after the crash. You had Matty Zagar looking very concerned ,pretty horrified in fact then behind him Tomasz Bajerski is laughng and cracking jokes with someone, as is England U 21 boss Graham Reeve further to the left. Now i was pretty mad at this and a few choice words were thrown at the telly at the time. But i'm sure of one thing,we ALL wanted to see that Lukas is allright, and thankfully he relatively is. -

Well i can't state enough how grave i thought the situation was tonight.I was at Odsal a few feet away when Erik Gundersen had his career ending accident and i've seen a few other bad ones. When i saw the crash and saw his legs twitching like that i thought he was in pain from a broken leg or something, but when i saw the replay and saw how he went in face first over the handlebars,i was sickened.I was even more worried when i saw the track guys frantic efforts,i think he was trying to turn him on his side, then when they put him in the ambulance so quickly and whisked him off like that i was REALLY worried. After that i wasn't at all interested who won the GP to be honest, but it was great when they told us the extent of his injuries, thanks for that Sky.On the cause of the crash,it's pretty obvious he got the footrest caught in the airfence.I for the life of me can not understand why the hell they cant attach an 18 inch high kickboard of plywood or something just down the main straights, that way riders can still catch it but not get snagged in but brush or bounce off it.Tonight should serve as a warning. All that matters for now though is that we are not looking at another tragedy and Lukas is going to be ok. -

I don't know what your both whinging at.I for one would certainly listen to someone with an opinion [ and someone thats been there done it and got the t shirt ] than someone who's just a yes man and sits on the fence all the time.Chris Louis does this a bit as does Kelvin Tatum. -
Wondered where the hell everybody was and why no updates for Sky Sports Extra less folks. All in the flippin chatroom are ya ?

I didn't know where else to post this so i thought i'd start a new thread for the result but all hopes and prayers for Lukas Dryml after that horrific crash.I hope to god he's going to be ok but i didn't like the look of it.

I think SCB has summed it all up brilliantly for me.Thats exactly how i feel about EL or PL. Steve i have seen Elite League meetings around the country both live and on sky and some meetings were pretty good but there is no way that it is this wonderful product that you profess, with what did you say, races you can only imagine.Come off it.The main thing i can't understand about your point is you make it sound like we have to watch the GP stars to see great and exciting racing or super skill. We see some unbelievable races at times at Owlerton at Premier level, races that make the hairs stand on the back of your neck, then i think back to when we've had EL guys down. The Elite League Riders Final and World Team Cup and frankly most races were quite boring, with riders strung out on rocket ship bikes 30 yards apart.I wouldn't cross the road to watch that. There are plenty of exciting riders and riders with raw talent too to watch at Premier Level.I love my speedway on a thursday night, and i can't wait till the next meeting every week but i can honestly say with hand on heart if Sheffield were to move up as the Elite League is now i'd be gutted.Where else could you see someone like Carlos Villar too,i can't wait till he comes back

For me relegation and promotion has an important part of a competitive and healthy league structure, at least as far as the top two divisions are concerned. But the deal has to be right unlike in most sports including Rugby. There has to be a proper commitment to and financial support for the 2nd division, Sky money has to be invested in the sports strength and infrastructure. I agree, this is why i said the Elite League needs to be watered down so that there isn't as massive a gulf between the leagues.Promotion and relegation would be great. It would give teams in the PL not invited in the first place a chance to gain entry on merit, and the leagues would be more interesting than i can ever remember. But it would all take a massive shake up in the sport and it just wont happen. As Racer X points out so well, if the best they can come up with is the farcical KOC [up] rules, then thats it we may as well forget it.Rob says it won't work because people wont invest in a team that may be in Div 2 the next year, but it works the other way too.A bright, positive forward thinking promotion, that gets off it's ass and actually promotes the sport in Div 2 should have less trouble attracting a sponsor if theres a good chance of being in with the big boys in a year or two.

Well as it happens FD i found this pukka site last night called www. southerncalifornian........., oh well never mind, i don't want to get in serious trouble -
I Notice you have added a team that haven't built there track yet..but eluded a team that are building theres as we speak! Arrrrgh. Ok ok. It was only done quickly off the top of my head.Nothing set in concrete, honest.I wondered how long it would be though before someone said ' Why haven't you put my team in the EL, not good enough eh ?' Who's this team that are building their track anyway :?:

Good fair points Heathcote. Let em coose i say,we'd soon see which riders wanted to ride in the league that pays their bread and butter earnings, and if they want to bugger off then fair enough.Same for any fans who only want to watch the ' best riders in the world' they can save their money and go to all the GP's instead. But i know which i'd prefer over the course of a season. The League setup isn't working as it is though.

Yes Dekker, i suppose Ole Olsen jumping on the phone every two minutes doesn't help the cause. -
Is it just me or is anyone else getting sick and tired of seeing riders cheat in the GP's ? Now i know that the GP's are run under different rules to league matches regarding certain things such as races not being awarded on the last lap but the creeping and moving at the starts is getting beyond a joke now. It's always the same riders getting away with it too.Much as i like him as a rider Billy Hamill did it for years. On saturday Lukas Dryml was moving all over the place in every one of his races and in the final itself Crump moved in the original start [ but i don't think this affected Pedersen's tape breaking as he was looking the other way] then in the re-run he got a classic rolling start. No wonder he got such a good gate. It's beggining to really p**s me off now and i can't enjoy a meeting when it comes down to a cheating lottery. What exactly are the rules regarding starts in the GP's.I would have thought they are the same as any other meeting but then again we are talking Speedway here, right ? Maybe it was just referee Tony Steele not doing his job on the night, but as i said it's happened for so long now.I thought Steele was a blimp in the box anyway. Some of his first bend calls were really inconsistent.Povazhny was hard done by,but then again he's not a big name [ oh cynical me !! ]
