Chris Harris
Philip Addison replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Egg on faces of all who criticised him after one GP or even his inclusion in the first place. Oh how quick they will change their tune and it's starting already. Well done Chris. Totally deserving of a rostrum place. Now if only all the tracks in the GP's had lines you could chase and pass on. Sadly some are slick bore fests. If every track was like Wroclaw tonight then Harris would be the most entertaining rider in the GP's this season. Maybe wouldn't win it but would be a real star. -
Thanks Stuart Road and Neil Watson for clarifying the tie breaks. I was aware of the system for the traditional individual meeting, heat wins, seconds etc, but wondered how they sorted who went into which semi. If it isnt 1st, 4th,6th and 7th and 2nd,3rd,5th and 8th in the next GP i'll be totally confused !!

Can someone please explain to me how they decide the riding order for the semi's when riders tie on points ? The only way i can work it out on what happened tonight was that a rider with a lower race jacket number gets placed higher. Is a lottery drawn that we don't see before the riders pick gate positions ? To my logic semi one would have 1st 3rd 5th and 7th and semi two would have 2nd 4th 6th and 8th. But semi one had 1st 4th 6th and 7th. While semi two had 2nd 3rd 5th and 8th. Spoilt it a bit for me as i was rubbing my hands at a first semi lineup of Pedersen,Adams,Crump and Andersen !!! Jagus had a better tally than Crump as he had 3 wins to Crumps 2 and beat him when they met yet had the harder semi on the night. Can anyone explain how they arrange the order ?

Hans Andersen
Philip Addison replied to pirate paul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Oh at last among the petty insults and nonsense is this post. Totally agree with it [ except i think he's a good rider not a great rider quite yet ] On a personal level i won't be sorry the day i see Hans Andersen and Nicki Pedersen retire. Pedersen seems to have calmed his riding antics down this year but his antics with Olsen were bad. What did the Danes expect him to do ??? And in reply to SCB saying people are twisting Andersens words regarding calling Harris a CL rider i suggest you wind the tape back and listen and watch it all again. As the Danes start to throw their teddies out of the pram, you hear Nicki Pedersen say in the background ' f*****g conference rider ' I dont care who said it.It just showed a total lack of respect AND arrogance like i've never seen in watching speedway 30 years. It's a shame the Danes won i was hoping the Aussies would win it at the end if GB couldn't. True the Australians showed HOW to behave and no one can question THEIR will to win. The Danes ? I'm finding it hard to give em respect today. Poor show. -
A Riders Reputation Preceeeding Him

This is a good point, would it have made a difference in the end ? Who knows ?, but still an interesting point. -

" What are you laughing at you bloomin bacon head ? " Scott likes to say ' bloomin ' on the heat of the moment on tv, unlike Mr Andersen Just why do they keep interviewing him like 8 times a meeting ? It's getting like when they used to interview Stoney every two minutes when Suzi Perry was doing the job * And to anyone taking this post too seriously, i don't know what he said in actual fact, but i'd like to too Shirls -

Most telling bit here is in the thread's title. REPUTATION. A reputation is earned on past history and previous incidents and he's had plenty. -
Yes Crump was superb. To go almost the entire World Cup unbeaten against the best riders in the world would have been some feat. I can't remember seeing Leigh Adams look so poor for ages. He was so subdued. Sullivan ? Doesn't seem to do it when the pressure is on. Cracking speedway meeting though.

Tips For The Swedish Gp
Philip Addison replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Had £ 5 on Nicki Pedersen at 7/2 at Done's [ Betfred ] the price had come down from 5/1 and £2 on Greg Hancock at 20/1. -
Wroclaw Gp Track
Philip Addison replied to sjw ministerofport's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well if it was Olsen's hand in there again tonight he made a right pig's ear of it. How many times do we hear riders say ' the track is totally different to how it was at practice, just slick now ' ??? -
The first GP in Slovenia was a great advert for the sport.Tonight was the opposite and fuel for the people that put speedway down saying ' first out the gate wins ' Most of the dirt seemed to be in a 12 inch deep slope stuck up to the air fence which you could see in Nicki Pedersen's fall. I found the whole thing boring. Oh and the sight of Olsen waving his clipboard at Gollob to hurry up and make his gate choice. What a prat. I'd love to have seen someone shove that clipboard up his jacksie. At least that would have livened procedings up.

The mini match was abandoned after heat 5 after a bad crash. George Jarvis slid off on the first turn of the [ second ? ] lap and unfortunately Joe Haynes and Ben Hopwood came down too.One of the lads ran right over George. He was on the track receiving medical attention for several minutes and as the ambulance would be leaving and it was almost the 10 pm curfew it was decided to call a halt. The last we heard on leaving, the announcer said he had a suspected broken leg but it was not 100% confirmed. The other two lads walked away ok.Best wishes to George for a speedy recovery. There were several programme changes and the PA system was abysmal.I didnt get the Buffalos number 5 it sounded like Jamie Pickard or even Pickles.Apologies. Swc The Final

It was quie a coincidence though that it came down to the last race and again it was Nicholls and Andersen. All it needed was PK too , lol. -

It's ok Rabbit i was just reacting to your earlier post where you said [ to subedei ] ' that's exactly how i saw it too ' . No hard feelings. I do agree with you both that no one should have been excluded for any of the incidents. Just racing. I just want to say Congratulations to Poland. They thoroughly deserved the win as they were the best team in the competition. I was also proud of team GB especially last sunday. Lee Richardson, Simon Stead and Chris Harris rode out of their socks.I also enjoyed seeing Scott Nicholls keep Andersen at the back in the last race. Some measure of sweet revenge for last year, i wondered if the commentators would pick up on it [ as Heuwen did ! ] -
Swc The Final
Philip Addison replied to tarabanko's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Theres no way anyone can attach any blame to Stead for the Gollob incident. One or two people on here [ you and Rabbit ] seem to think it happened coming out of the second bend.It didnt. It was at the end of the [ long ] straight going into the third bend. How can people NOT notice this when Gollob was actually broadsiding into the corner the wrong way at first. It was the most stunning recovery i've ever seen in watching speedway 30 years. Theres no way he should have been able to stay on.What a fantastic rider Gollob is, a gifted individual.Saying that i think the incident happend when he changed his mind and went to cut back inside but ran up the back of Stead, as one of the rider commentators said [ cant remember who ] -
The thing that made it most boring last night wasn't the format but the concrete hard track with no outside line until a few late races. Give this new format a chance people !!! If we have a great race track with lots of racing actually going on in the heats you might change your opinions. I personally think this format is a lot better. For the riders it gives them 5 rides at least and you don't trek half way across Europe for two rides. But for me what i HATED about the old format it didn't encourage racing. If you were in second why risk it going to pass for first ??? All you had to do was finish in the top 2 each time you went out.Whats that all about ? Garbage. Plus we saw riders giving race wins up for second for a better race draw next time out.How credible does that make speedway look to the outsider then ? No this format is 100 % better than last years IMHO. Not sure yet about the final points system but the format itself is better.

This Gp Track Is Rubbish
Philip Addison replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What a load of rubbish. The difference is Rickardsson nver touched Lindback in the final whereas Pedersen clattered into the side of 3 riders as he always does. Not same old bias, same old Pedersen, same old supporters sticking up for him too. -

Well Done Hans Andersen
Philip Addison replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No and if he got Ove Fundin to stand in front of you and tell you to your face you'd probably say " Why should i believe him ? That could be anyone who just happens to look like him " No wonder governments find it so easy to pull spin stunts on the general public.Half of them can't see the wood for the trees,or they don't want to.Thats meant at all people Garf not just Danes i mean people in the UK. -
Well Done Hans Andersen
Philip Addison replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You Hansi fans all need to chill out.If we don't want to like him,we won't.Simple.Too hard to understand ? It's not Xenophobia at all.We just don't like what he did in heat 25 of the world cup.Personally for me i disliked him before then due to several instances of ' dubious ' riding this season. But for others it's simply what happened in Poole. That choice is up to them,it doesn't make anyone else more superior or holier than thou because they chose to ' move on ' Everyone is different and entitled to their own opinion. Also just because i don't want him to win races doesn't mean it's eating away at me inside, blimey. For what it's worth i don't believe he cost us the World Cup anyway. There were other things that contributed too, but i and others including a former world champion no less know exactly what he did,and that was to make sure Nicholls wasn't going to win that race.Notions of a brown envelope are pathetic. The Swedes are entirely blameless in all this.Personally the rest of the Danish team are too.I put it all down solely to a silly young man who had a grudge with Nicholls,Richardson and Norris all from recent incidents. He has shown his immaturity in his interviews on Sky.First time on tv at Wolverhampton 'F*****g hell i didn't realise the track was this small'. On Norris ' well he's a w****r ' and the ' Spinning my ** off ' to Sophie after the stitch up.Oh yes and then the obvious lies about not seeing PK. So if form is anything to go on am i to be castigated for believing he did what he did ?As i said, different opinions. -
Crumpy what a legend!

Looking at the title of this thread, in this case should it be what a legend or what a leg - end ????
