this is most unexpected based upon what I read in the star's stoke column recently..

Best meeting I've seen at Berwick in half a dozen visits ... its not exactly a regular track for me! Shame that with the crowd all round the track the atmosphere compared to Newcastle the following night wasn't as good. Maybe the fans on the home straight made a lot of noise which we didn't hear on back straight. Otherwise very enjoyable.

The 4 Hours Speedway Meeting....
Mike.Butler replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The vast majority of fans want 15 heat meetings to last between 90-105 minutes. All those involved in the meeting who dilly-dally/insist on intervals/overdo/fail to plan properly for breaks that result in this elapse time being exceeded do so at their own peril and do the sport a disservice generally. I do feel that some promotions now 'get it'..but by no means all. REFEREES / RIDERS / TRACK STAFF / PROMOTERS / MANAGERS listen to your audience. A few mins here and there add up so easily and the frustration of watching NOTHING for no good reason is driving even us old-timers away.. We left Newcastle for the drive back to Sussex on Sunday very grateful that the meeting was over in less than 2 hours meaning I got home an hour earlier than I possibly could have done. So thank you so much to all for that. -
Speedway Star Back Cover Photos In 1976 And 1977
Mike.Butler replied to PElford's topic in Years Gone By
I started getting speedway star in 1976 and to my knowledge it has not been published on a Saturday. The only change I can think of is that more recently Monday's results have been included in the Thursday edition of the same week. -
I agree, this winter has been best ever for SS.

Why Did Kent Resign From The Bl Div 3 In 1994?

and the good news I read is that some official matches may take place there this season...be good to visit again... -
is that anything like Hors d'oeuvres?
-
0X0NE is actually a word (but I've never recorded this against any rider in a meet to date.
-
it could be just 1/2 a point wins a meeting outright if no rider finished in 19 races, and the riders in the other race placed 1st, 2nd and joint 3rd were all subsequently disqualified, leaving one rider with a joint 3rd the only scorer.

could be in a domestic individual somewhere..though I don't recall it in my time...

I bumped into Kevin Jolly at football recently.....he certainly has high hopes for Jordan Jenkins..

...an individual race ending in a dead heat (for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place (2.5, 1.5 or 0.5)). NB In league matches I have seen 2 dead heats , (1 for 1st place and 1 for 2nd place, never for 3rd)

has there ever been a dead heat in an individual meet?

Why Did Kent Resign From The Bl Div 3 In 1994?

from my prog: "Iwade Speedway - Home of the Kent Crusaders" -
It was the inaugural season for the 3rd tier. I attended an early season challenge at Iwade where the programme talks about their keenness to get actual league fixtures scheduled, yet the records show they then withdrew after just 1 official meeting. can anyone recall the exact reaosns why they withdrew? thx

how many midlands tracks are there?

The NJL is a poor spectacle for spectators. same 4 riders against each other all the time. Much prefer 6 x 500cc heats.

doesn't get much milder or dry in February than this I'd have thought....I've even repaired my fence without a coat on....

I know I have been critical of the Stoke promotion on here in the past, but in relation to this thread, it's not the fault of Stoke or Buxton that other teams have signed up the best young talent in an effort to be successful thus meaning that the less well off teams have to compete in any way they can. I think it better they track competitive teams irrespective of age until/unless all teams in this development league agree to have standard pay and allocate the best youngsters across all clubs.
