  1. I have to say the Star has been very interesting during the pandemic. An exceptional effort in my view.
  2. I have been looking at Eastbourne's 70th anniversary meeting programme from 3rd October 1999 in which Bob Dugard states Arlington is "The longest running Speedway in the Country and perhaps the world". Is there any legitimacy to this claim?
  3. i everyone, anyone confirm the (advertised) official start time of Mildenhall meetings that year please? Just have a sneaking feeling that late in the year they would have started a bit earlier than 4.30.... (no indication in prog) thanx mike
  4. Assuming Sheffield are ultimately able to make the sums add up this is the best news of the winter (so far...)
  5. Simon Tillman has just fixed my en-suite shower....
  6. jumper only weather at Leicester last night...
  7. i''m afraid that the british weather is so unpredictable...your suggestion means that for teams not in the play-offs then their season ends in august.. I've seen enough people complain on here when that happens to their side.... as long as all done by end of oct...next year the early October weather will be dry I expect...
  8. in my (recent painful) experience the 'forecast' one day proves far from accurate 24 hours later!
  9. I was parked directly outside the gates ion Saturday at 5.30 and saw people walking in. I got out of my car and as I went to pay the news broke. 5 mins later I saw a Somerset family getting back into their car. .I felt for them..
  10. can I ask why Georgie Wood is riding for Eastbourne but not it seems for the isle of wight?
  11. National Development League....develop as just a rider or as a person too..?...15 year olds / duty of care..etc etc
  12. I have tried to talk Dan Holt out of retirement......
  13. if one reads Backtrack it appears a lot of the 'shenanigans' of old were 'staged' ….
  14. Cook was totally out of order but situation was then inflamed by home promotion and announcer over the mike....rarely have I been at a meeting with such ill-feeling.. from what I saw perhaps the ref should have thrown cook out of the meeting... and from what I heard the Eastbourne presenter should be censored for provoking the situation when a wiser head was called for.
  15. they will be more likely to cue for bar billiards...
  16. Anyone believe that a whole £1 (c. 6%) off admission is likely to have any effect on the attendance? I recall Eastbourne being hauled up for knocking 50% off the admission price for a previous visit of Scunny when the visitors complained ! Not sure how I spent that 50p! Great that I'll have double that this time to invest elewhere, but will Will Rob G take this as another insult re his teams likely performance? Surely their score won't be lower than Berwick's…
  17. it was a bloody good spot by the ref!!. Howarth had already been excluded for 2 mins so was attempting to start off 15m when the he was excluded for 'no gloves'. I believe this will count as 'ride' for Howarth in the averages as he was under starters orders... m
  18. ...and that John Terry was waiting outside in his isle of wight bib should the islanders have won....
  19. I heard talk of an open top bus tour through Sittingbourne....
  20. I enjoyed it. Not a bad crowd and some interesting races (albeit often 2 in the same heat!), I was half expecting a run-off for the trophy but then again where would Wimbledon put it!
  21. glad to see you've perked up a bit Tony.... 1. .
  22. well it was over by 8.00...don't think 2 hours is excessive..
