Sound. I have always enjoyed my visits to Loomer Road..So get some local supporters on board, spruce it up as best one can at cheap cost and then importantly get the track right. It's a central location and ideal for me when returning from footy up north on a Saturday during the spring/autumn.

British Speedway Promoters Meeting
Mike.Butler replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
20 years ago I had Navy 'National League' (now PL) Fleece which I wore a lot. It wasn't a garish 'in-your-face' club jacket one sees around; but instead had a smallish union flag and an understated speedway monikor on one side of the front (and nothing on the back). It's exactly the kind of thing I would buy again. either EL or PL. (The original eventually got nicked when my car it was in was stolen). there are many of us wh don't have a particular affiliation for a club but would love to advertise the sport as a whole in this manner to friends and others who see me whilst I'm out and about.. -
If Peterborough go into PL I hope having the 4TT finals there isn't being touted as an incentive to potential suitors, as I seriously hope this will be staged on a neutral track. Seen Peterbrough win it at home too often for my liking.

Bbc Sports Personality Of The Year
Mike.Butler replied to Grand Central's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
what is the point of this discussion.?. we all know the BBC has its own agenda. I never watch the thing...it was rigged for year after year and now transparency only goes so far as the actual public voting. can't believe football fans bother to watch either..if a top clubs player is included its pretty certain they will poll loads of votes just cos of their sports fan base.. Find something else to watch and let this farce go uncommented on..best way of discrediting it. -
my local fish 'n chips shop only cooks fish on fridays and saturdays these days. No demand other days. Lots of sausages cos they're much cheaper.

I'm afraid not gustix. My project isn't of much interest to anyone else i'm afraid. Although i do have stats coming out of my ears they only apply to meetings i have seen since 1974....sorry. keep up the good work. m -

I reference the site quite a lot and find it useful...., However...as my lifetime reporting project has only reached 1990 (ie before the 3rd tier existed), it hasn't been an issue for me to date. When it becomes an issue should I a) start a new thread, b. re-invoke this one to complain or c), or send personal messages askiing what the f+++ is going on? thanx in advance. -

amateur speedway at arlington on summer sundays in 10 years time..i'm actually looking forward to it! (hope to still be around) -
this was the format in the BL in 1990: 1/2 v 1/2 6/7 v 6/7 5/4 v 5/4 3/6 v 3/7 5/4 v 1/2 1/2 v 3/6 3/6 v 5/4 2/7 v 2/7 5/4 v 3/6 1/2 v 5/4 3/7 v 1/2 1/4 v 3/5 3/5 v 1/4 6/7 v 6/7 nominated in other words the old 13 heat formula + an extra reserve heat + hig scorers. can't see much wrong with this tbh.

best ask Smiths to put on top shelf in a cellophane wrapper with just a glimpse of Tai's thigh showing...that should shift 'em -

i suppose things could be worse. We might only have 20 odd competitors, b**gger all overtaking / excitement with the same German winning time after time after time after time... -
totally embarrassing. How clubs who fail so dismally to fulfill their basic requirements are allowed back in again year after year without the governing body taking some sort of action is baffling...In most other sports you'd have your license put on hold if you can't cough up money for a meaningful fine ...just shows how desperate things are... how many league matches were they supposed to run???! let's face it - there aren't enough british riders able to cut it at EL/PL standard around at the moment for the no. of teams we have....surely brits will be getting as many rides as they could posssibly want this year..there must NOT be any rules in the way of this... -

Mike.Butler replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
i know we're all dumbstruck but at least 1. NL riders surely can only benefit with more rides can't they?, it can't be right that we have foreigners at reserve... and 2. it's better than doing nothing. thats the key i think, i've said for ages paying more than £1 per heat is too much -

Over 2013format it is poss that a 2014 PL team could beat a 2014 EL team. I like the idea of bringing the leagues closer together, but we should be calling them the Central league and the less Central league -

Centre Green Parking At Blunsdon
Mike.Butler replied to Adder's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
personally i'd like to see the centre greens used for this sort of thing. It is very entertaining watching frustrated motorists trying to exit car parks all trying to move the next 5 mm before the next car grabs the space..a cheap interval attraction imv.
