  1. sems to me the answer is for all clubs to abide by the agreed maximum £ per point so that it is a more competitive league...and cradley should be saving money for future track rather than squandering it now on riders to win the NL...if the fan base is as solid as is being made out then not winning the league isn't going to affect it. In the long run I'd have thought it far better to have a competitive match for £10 maybe with a few off the gate but less outgoings to riders who really should be using this as a training league for experience, not to make a living.
  2. I'll say it again.. Cradley continuing to race in the NL with a side as strong as this is not sustainable....Keep on winning the NL year after year but how long will the crowd watch thrashings week after week?
  3. No matches are 'meaningless'...the riders are there to score points to get paid. Stuart Robson was worth the admission money on his own. Also, thanx to the Newcastle promotion for the promotional £12 entry for the football ground-hoppers. Much appreciated by all and some were at their first meeting ever, so you never know one or two may return to their local track.
  4. It might be for the best tbh..let the riders go elsewhere to get some meetings..
  5. Not sure last time i saw the same two riders concede two 5-0's in a row (and due to 4 exclusions rather than ef's or anything else!)
  6. i was at the meeting. One of the worst reffing displays I have ever witnessed.. believe Dave Dowling is 65 ish?...Is it time the retirement age for refs is looked at?
  7. the concept is ok...its the riders included that some may have a problem with..and thats fixable in future years i'd have thought
  8. Its a great way to level out the teams in EL /PL. Promotion/Relegation back on the agenda?
  9. Perhaps that aside from normal PL tracks that normally operate on fridays, the EL should ride on Good friday and the give way to the premier on the other Bank hols..
  10. it's was formed as a development league...there have always been stronger and weaker teams with different agendas..ok so at the start of this season it is more pronounced I concede, but there is no minimum points limit so if clubs at this level are relying on putting out winning teams (and using their budgets to attract riders on attractive avarages) to support their business model, then they have to expect some results like this. This is the problem with Cradley (in particular) being the wrong sort of club to be in this league... It probably doesn't bother Coventtry and King's Lynn that the scores above have happened since their primary income is from their BL sides...I see this as a Cradley problem that will remain until they move up (track or no track notwithstanding).. Nothing against them whatsoever but history shows that sides repeatedly winning leagues at levels other than the top one isn't sustainable.. (ie Eastbourne in the late 70's)
  11. i hope they can sort out but why on earth wasn't this recognised at the end of last season when they called off meetings?. Surely there must be someone in the wider speedway community who can at least advise them of what to do...?
  12. Vanessa Purchase thought the world of him..
  13. I believe at least 4 of the 5 Collins brothers rode as a team in a 4TT at Crayford.
  14. this is a devlopment league. I'd say Cradley were more at fault for the lopsided scoreline than Scunthorpe. If the stand-alone clubs didn't have the likes of Scunny to race against there would hardly be a league at all..Winning the damn thing shouldn't be the aim IMV... I won't be going to Cradley this season as they are too strong.
  15. Brandon one of the few stadiums to have staged speedway continuously since I started in '76...it's demise will mean even fewer remain..and i'm not counting Arlington in the ever decreasing list since they closed for half a seaon before Wimbledon bailed out there...If Brandon can go then anywhere can
  16. A lot of 'Open' meetings don't get rescheduled...Could be intetesting at end of season if a NL draft rider has the highest average in an EL team and thereby 'qualify'...
  17. that's not even a PL side Birmingham!...it's a side built on a budget..and it shows..they would be much betterr off in the PL IMV..
  18. Isn't it inevitable that having so many riders riding in two (or three) divisions is going to cause problems throughout the season?..and that's before injuries.. I'm all for british youngsters getting as many rides as possible but this a consequence.
  19. Maybe. but cancelled again I see....so we await the next challenge..meanwhile other clubs are racing competitive fixtures...
  20. see my post in other thread. They should be told 'No challenges' until all official matches completed. I'm afraid that between them and Coventry they are robbing our sport of any credibiity it may still have.. The governance of speedway is an absolute joke.. and to think that the Football Association gets criticised!!
  21. sorry but here we go again..stoke staging a challenge when they have failed to fulfill their fixtures for 2 years in a row..they should have been told to stage official fixtures only until completed in my view....what odds another incomplete league table come October?
  22. Hmm. as usual i'm afraid very little pasing during an Arlington meeting. Having watched 2 really good meetings so far at Peterborough and Plymouth (large and small) i'm not sure what the probem with the Eastbourne track is..i've read many times it's a 'trick track'..but why exactly?
  23. Pl racing is what suits peterborough best. I was genuinely excited at the prospect of seeing Rye House there...seems many locals agree judging by the turnout...beats an invitation select EL team turning up some ad-hoc day of the week for the nth time..
