  1. fingers crossed then... Once some work gets underway I'll be up to see for myself... i'm sure won't take much to get this forum 100% behind it.
  2. the play-offs should be scrapped. full-stop. Artificially ending the season early when at least 6 weeks remains as contingency for league matches, feels like we are entering an indian summer but some clubs are shutting up shop already.
  3. Danny Phillips in the nil-nil at Kent this season....Leading the race but decided to ride straight into the pits believing the race had been stopped when it hadn't.
  4. the 15 year old singer/guitarist was excellent and was well received I thought given the normal apathy towards this type of thing. The sound system was excellent. Well done to her and whoever booked her.
  5. I have long thought that R/R in NL should only be available to away teams. Home teams required to promote from within.
  6. i am going to this. My only other visit to Blunsdon this year was for the Wolves 'A' match. I deliberately avoid reading about teams line-ups in advance so am looking forward to another close meeting.
  7. \realistically I can only see one savior even if it means riders are all part-time. No foreigners. One league. All brits who only ride in UK. Weekly meetings for £10..riders split pay out of gate money.
  8. another nail in the coffin...instead of 20+ heats for one's money it's now apparently acceptable for 10 heats to be deemed a nights entertainment. £1.50 a heat!... talk about taking the p**s...I can see no future with the current model and total lack of governance...my heart bleeds for our sport
  9. Eastbourne Elite League champions..what a way to go out that will be for Uncle Bob!..and bet sky will just love having to transmit 2 meetings from arlington!
  10. i would forget about practice...previous day takes riders away from a UK meet they could otherwise do whilst on the day hinders good track prep
  11. where's Everton, Aston, Chester-le-Street, Belle Vue even... ? It's the sports team that puts the place on the map in the first place. King's Lynn and Poole must help project the town's profile in the conciousness of the regional public, more so than Birmingham which doesn't convey where the club is based in that metropolis. Unlike Cradley, Wimbledon, Belle Vue which are far more identifiable with a particular part of an urban area. Could this be why London, Birmingham and Liverpool haven't survived?
  12. And he aks us to 'show our appreciation' non-stop throughout the meeting...mix it up a bit fella!
  13. It's a challenge meeting with some select sides included. No more than that. Winners may call themselves European Champions but will have arguably less credibility than the elite league champs who finish 4th in the 'regular' season.
  14. its a more difficult job in some ways than say football since if 4 riders are following each other round without any passing what is there to comment upon? Also, they have to fill 90% of the time talking when there is no race actually taking place. Can't be easy.
  15. A rider clearly shouldn't have to fall in order that another rider be excluded for unfair riding. Same goes for a footballer staying on his feet even though fouled; It should still be a pen. Personally I thought it was harsh, but the principle is right.
  16. I think he has kicked off a very interesting discussion.. I too was a little disappointed in KL on Sat. However, Eastbourne is by cmmon concensus a technical track but its no better there. The modern machinery is to blame. If only we could go back to uprights...technology has a lot to answer for.... Wonder if it would be poss for a promoter to stage a meeting with current riders riding uprights and see how it goes. I would attend for one.
  17. can you imagine another business treating customers this way.
  18. maybe they got used to 'having a fall' when young and it doesnt affect them so much in later years
  19. If Australia make it and Holder is fit they are the strongest team...Gb's best hope of a medal is if Sweden win the race-off
  20. think it will be close throughout...i just hope that whichever country wins tonight won't have used a TS
