25th June 2006 : Mildenhall 'B' 40 Scunthorpe 53 (CL) followed by Mildenhall 41 Scunthorpe 52 (PLKOC) In between the two matches we adjourned to the bar to watch football: England 1 Ecuador 0 (world cup). First match started at 12 noon and the second at 18.00. Some might argue this was in fact 2 meetings as first was reffed by Barbara Horley and second by Christina Turnbull. I believe time-wise this may have exceeded the 48 heats I saw at Wolverhampton as mentioned above (I do not recall the elapse time for that).

He did crash actually. he then came out in his next ride and got to final bend on final lap and it popped out.

Cradley V Birmingham Ch 7/10/14

the shock made porky come over all religous-like..lost the plot a bit.. -
the midlands has always been a hotbed with top-flight local derbies aplenty but with coventry now seemingly on borrowed time it might be that Leicester v Wolves will be the only 'derby' left. Well they can't be any further apart than the south coast 'derby' between poole and eastbourne. There's no east anglian derby any longer; Belle Vue have been marooned for a while and Swindon lost Oxford and Reading, so actually there may not be any if things continue like they are...

The Decline Of British Speedway

the spectacle has diminished because of technology. 1. Cost:Only a select few can afford top machinery. 2. Bikes are too fast for the tracks they are on. -

Eastbourne should be another Mildenhall and pull in similar crowds.

Been going to Arlington every year since 1976. Track has gradually got worse and worse - entertainment likewise...It's sad but unless the track is ripped up and re-laid I can't see any level of the sport being a goer at Arlington. Sometimes its best to remember the good times and turn off the life support machine. RIP. -
wondered why there was a police car outside the entrance when we left? they didn't seem bothered about all the cars parked on double yellows...maybe they were there to keep the protestors and fans apart..?
