He's signed for Coventry!! what's going on?

Personally I don't think its good for business for teams to win the league at 1st attempt..

Probably been covered elsewhere but on Sunday 15th Aug 1999 at Saddlebow Road we saw Luke Clifton have a total of 14 rides for K.Lynn vs Rye House (L40-48) in the Conference Lge, and Club Cradley Heath (W50-40) in a challenge. He scored 32 pts + 1 bonus Clifton surprisingly had the slowest winning time of the night clocking 71.9 in the 12th heat whilst Mark Steel set the fastest time of 65.5 in the 23rd heat (out of 31), Ref was Mick Bates. Anyone seen a rider have more starts (other than amateur meets?)

One should regard this as a 'draft'. Aside from tv schedules affecting many sports, british speedway is the absolute worst in tinkering with the fixture list. The days of away fans planning trips and booking b&B's in advance are long gone with changes affecting and costing supporters having been routinely dismissed as unimportant for years. And they wonder why there are so few away fans..they can't blame the cost of fuel this season.... What makes a good atmosphere? - erm Away fans. What has driven many fans away? - erm a lack of atmosphere...

Looking Back On The Elite League
Mike.Butler replied to weatherwatcher's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The fall in quality of entertainment is more to do with the riders machines becoming less suitable for the tracks rather than the top riders not being here. -
i'm going to make an effort to get up there this season.

Likes And Dislikes
Mike.Butler replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have been converted to the GP's. I like the fact riders can qualify and in theory would like any rider to be able to with more qualifying rounds but i realize they are not profitable for tracks to stage. I do not like the play-offs to find the champions - This is a league FFS! A separate comp for top 4 is fine. I do like 15 heats rather than 13 but request that every programme contains at least 21 heats. So that's either a junior match OR a 2nd half. 15 heats represents totally crap VFM. thank you. -
why not give them an electric shock whilst we're at it?

oh Christ, we're not having twins are we?

its not THAT important, but indicative of the back-of-a-fag-packet approach all too prevalent

Premier League 2015 Predictions
Mike.Butler replied to cambpanther's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
the play-off final will be in the last week of October. -
it was stated it would be different. probably find out on march 15th

if I was a ref I would try to raise tapes when they were rolling backwards. Also, if a rider is moving at tapes but misses gate why can't refs let the race continue. Footy refs now wait quite a while to see if an advantage has been gained. Don't hit the red lights immediately in a fit of pique, wait until after the first bend please.
-
my view is quite the opposite. far too many races are re-started. creepers in the nl are often the most inexperienced. let them go..

Very few Scottish junior football clubs have either floodlights or seats. I wonder if the owners are contemplating Ashfield FC moving into the seniors set-up...

Because over a period of time the promoters have alienated much of the potential speedway going public who are left with just one remaining meeting that still appeals. However the Cardiff 40K will tail off as fewer younger faces attend bread and butter meets.

its not all about winning for me. I want to be entertained as no.1 priority.

Belle Vue National Stadium
Mike.Butler replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I suggest we all get behind those trying to deliver this as it can only be good for the sport. Those wishing to try and de-rail it through negativity, or are simply critical of progress as a result of understandable frustration, should perhaps hold fire and look forward to basking in the glow of 'I told you so' if it fails. I know from having waited for exactly a year since brentford fc gained full planning permission for our new stadium that time just passes without anything apparently happening... It's just the way it is in this country.. -
Speedway Star - Can I Have My Money Back?
Mike.Butler replied to Rob Lee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
seems to me those buying the mag are happy with it (and in fact view that it is getting better); whilst those who don't/no longer buy it are probably unlikely to be influenced by any positive feedback they read on here...personally, I just hope enough keep buying it to make it viable. -

Birmingham Brummies 2015
Mike.Butler replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
both teams riders' CMA's be artificially boosted by riding an away match at home..not sure two teams in same div have ever shared before have they? -
blimey, I thought we left the gimmicks to the promoters!
