  1. It was 100% the right decision. As far as future finals are concerned maybe they could make it best out of 3 races..
  2. i think the speedway team were called Holland in those uninformed days weren't they?
  3. As one of the record low Coventry 1st team fixture 'crowd' on Monday I feel a free programme offer would be appropriate if I present my re-admission ticket (well the little bit they gave me back after it was ripped in 2) the next time I visit. Least they can do for me being a 'hero' in attending.. Pike! don't tell them I was actually just passing by that way anyway so sort of attended by accident...
  4. thought ref awarded a couple of races when he could have re-run. think we were short changed by 8 laps or so... enjoyable meeting otherwise..closer up to heat 13 than I expected.
  5. I know I attended well aware of the weather forecast but I was passing anyway. However, am I going to be reimbursed for only seeing 9 actual races involving both teams?
  6. i heard several mutterings on the way out last night from disillusioned Coventry fans who said sky/promoters insisting on running meetings when the weather forecast clearly suggests a meeting will not run its course is short-changing fans. Another example of driving fans away.. what an awful damp squib that was. Personally I think the promotion owes us some money as we only saw 9 races with both side competing.
  7. Rob Godfrey was critical of his Scunny team on Monday saying he had put loads of dirt on the outside but only the Somerset team were using it pass. Riding the kerb at Normanby Road is not the quickest way around.
  8. talk about trying to run before you can walk! and anyway, joining an EL that is shrinking doesn't sound like a good idea to me... the future is an amalgamation at PL level..so best to be in t when t happens
  9. the bsp web site has the exeter and belle vue scores the wrong way around. 31 heats and 2nd meeting finished by 6.15... a couple of riders on show were out of their depth but otherwise an enjoyable 4TT
  10. ok, i'm pleased this is good news but............ 1. what on earth is the break even crowd figure going to be for a) NL and PL? 2. how much is the ferry fare going to be for a) riders and mainland spectators? 3. will meetings run with the return ferry in mind a) transport so we can alwsys see the whole meeting? I'd hate this exercise to result in false hope for all concerned, but when looking at crowds when I was there before it closed I estimate that on occasions it was only just into 3 figures.. If they pull this off I will be as knocked out as I was when visiting Ashfield last week. damn good luck to you guys
  11. Even the very professional set-up at Glasgow suffered a very late postponement despite giving assurances it would be on.. If it can happen to them.....shrug
  12. anyone thinking Leicester should have stayed in the PL?
  13. well, what an enjoyable evening. I am so glad I may the effort to get up to Ashfield. As soon as you enter through the new entrance lobby you are struck by how professional it all seems. Really encouraging to be on a packed terrace close to the action and a good atmosphere. Recommend you al try and get there this season.
  14. most exciting meeting of season for me so far.. a draw would have been fair result.
  15. if manchester city are at home at 5.30 on the tele that sat evening mightn't this meeting actually not take place when stated??
  16. good racing on a well prepared track. ...trouble is my wife doesn't believe i actually went to rye house tonight as back early and don't smell of shale...
  17. sounds like we could have been looking at 30 pieces of silver
  18. rust = the colour of my bathwater last night.
  19. well I thoroughly enjoyed this meeting... but then I always like some incidents to enliven things..
  20. most enjoyable meeting so far this season. Eagles deserved a point. I'd say crowd tonight was on a par with Brummies last week. c. 1,000..total guess.. The guy on the door was counting us all in and van Stratten twice asked him for running total. CVS seemed happy enough.. didn't hear the answer though from over the fence... also, can't remember the last time heat 2 of a league meeting produced the fastest time of the night!
  21. Crowd were very subdued from the first heat when Zagar tailed off... The chap on the mike did absolutely nothing to help the atmosphere one jot. Cringed every time he opened his mouth, especially re his faux pas with Natalie...Why do promotions ask people who aren't speedway savvy to do this?.. Memories of Leicester's opening night came flooding back..
