As the rider of his era I'd like to see him learn English and do more meetings outside of Poland to promote the sport internationally or there'll only be Speedway left in Poland. World Champions in the past have generally had a responsibility to promote the sport through their position. You don't have to commit to a league, just show up once in a while in various open meetings across the world.

Is one of them "The Briggo Bone Dome"? -
Nobody is doubting his ability on a Speedway bike... it's just as a 5 x World Champion he must be one of the worst ambassador's for Speedway ever, generally won't leave Poland, doesn't have the greatest command of the English (world) language etc. You have to wonder how many titles Adams could have won if he was in the same circumstances as Zmarzlik i.e. not having to do 100+ meetings a year to make it pay, no Tony Rickardsson, Jason Crump & Nicki Pedersen at the top of their games, a high proportion of GP's run in his home country. Edit: Having said that if you look at Adams GP record it's not exactly littered with medals, a single Silver (2007) and one Bronze (2005)... it took him 6 years and 42 GP's until he finally won a GP. During his peak years 2000-2008 (?) he was headed by Tony Rickardsson, Nicki Pedersen, Jason Crump, Greg Hancock, Andreas Jonsson, Tomasz Gollob, Hans Andersen, Marl Loram, Billy Hamill & Ryan Sullivan... a mere 19 World Championships between them!! Pick the bones out of that!

Add in Emil and TK... it's a long standing debate. You could argue (and I am) that Leigh Adams was a better ambassador for Speedway than the current 5 x World Champion!

As I've said before, £30.99 pm over 6 months compares quite well to BSN per meeting and bear in mind the higher quality of Speedway and the extra sport you get. It's just we've had it too cheap while it's been on Eurosport & Discovery+ -

Speedways relationship with the media

I don't think the explosion of TV channels has helped. Everything seems to have its own niche channel these days, BSN being speedway's example. Back in the day you just had 3 or 4 TV channels and if you were fortunate enough to be on one of them you were quids in. Then satellite TV came along and the whole entertainment industry was carved up into its different categories, and everybody now watches stuff in their own bubble. In the era of 3/4 channel TV if you were a "celebrity" you were a national celebrity, these days you could walk past most of the modern day "celebrities" in the street unaware as they're generally not known outside of their bubble. Add in the demise of the print media for anybody over 40 and it's really hard to get your message across without some kind of "on brand" message. Speedway with its very white, very male audience and participants will just get overlooked, having said that it does have the youth of the participants on its side that really could be exploited more. The old codgers in the crowd will not like crowds of hooded yoofs roaming the stadiums in gangs playing their awful music though 😂 -
Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024

It maybe worth seeing where else the Speedway is covered and subscribing to that country's provider using a no fee credit card and a VPN. https://www.fimspeedway.com/where-to-watch Looking at the US it says MavTV... which possibly looks to be free, whether it actually covers all the Speedway live though is another matter. -
Get this... So, I contacted Virgin Media yesterday, to ask where Eurosport had gone (playing dumb). I was initially offered TNT for £18pm with the first 3 months free, after a bit of moaning I got 5 months free and told to call back at the end of July to renegotiate. So, half a result. I then went to see if I could access the Discovery+ app and to my astonishment as a VM customer I can't! So this means I should be okay for British Speedway and the SGP until July. What I probably won't be able to watch is the SGP2, SON2, SGP3 and the must see Sprint Races (😂)... unless I pay another £30.99 pm, assuming they're not going to be shown on TNT, as they weren't shown previously on Eurosport. So if you're a VM customer it maybe better just to go for the Discovery+ app option rather than adding TNT to your VM package. What a buggers muddle!

I'm going to give Virgin Media a call later this week to see if we can agree on something, I've got a year to go on my contact though, having said that I am getting TV, 400mb Broadband, Telephone & Sky Sports all for £60p/m... and I got £167 cash back, kerching 🤑 Still looking for an IPTV recommendation though just in case... anybody? DM me 🤞🙏 -
There's a circumcision joke in there somewhere... but I'm going to leave it alone!

It took you 7 years to come up with that joke? 😂

I think the best idea with the streamers (Disney, Apple, Paramount, Discovery etc) is to hop from one to the other and just binge what you want to watch then move to the next, you then free up some money for the channels that carry live sports, Sky, TNT and to a lesser extent Amazon. It's a bit of admin, but no point continuously paying out for stuff that's always going to be available.
