Message To The Leicester Promotor
IainB replied to robert72's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I've been attending speedway for over 35 years, started at Blackbird Road, switched to Brandon when Leicester closed and also followed Long Eaton when they were invading. I live only a mile away from BP and I could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times I've been... and purely because of the lack of racing on track. My last visit was to the match vs Young Aussie last summer and it was one of the worst (non weather effected) matches I've ever been to, I left during the interval after heat 10. I vowed never to return after that until changes had been made to the track, although changes have been made... it doesn't sound promising. To those that say "at least you have speedway", I reply... that ain't speedway! -
Sky's Additions To It's Speedway Coverage.

it's only because they have no GP filler to use anymore -
I'm not sure what's wrong with the rest of the track... but bend 2 goes uphill

Well that's me and Beaumont Park through! I said I'd never go again but got tempted by this one... What a mistake! Young lions were for the most part pathetic, racing almost non existent... Don't know what it was like after the interval as I left... With a load of others! The last match I went to was in the KOC vs Workington... Have I just been unlucky or is this the type of rubbish that is served up every week?

Most of the Riders in the game today seem, to me, to be uneducated morons. I agree, stick a camera in front of a rider straight after an incident and don't be surprised to hear a bit of language but you only have to take a look at a number of high profile riders' Twitter feeds to see the language that is used... some of them even asking for sponsorship on the same feed... unbelievable! Michael Lee and Kenny Carter, 2 of the most volatile riders of the TV past always managed to curb their language, the worst I can remember either of them saying was "bloody"... compare this to the current World Champion saying B@stards live on national radio prior to the Cardiff GP, and he's supposedly the best the sport has to offer!

Leicester V Workington (koc) 19/08/12

It's not a matter of getting home 5-10 minutes earlier, for me it's the flow of the meeting and keeping punters interested. If I wanted to stand around and look at an empty track or tractor racing I'd go to the countryside and look at a field... It's a hell of a lot cheaper!! -

Made my first visit to Leicester this season last night and what a load of rubbish! The 2 and a half hours it took to run this meeting made even Coventry's presentation look slick. Numerous restarts, riders heading straight to the pits after each, boring racing, all the dirt being scraped off the track (twice!), R/R, two riders on the trot, Interval, riders messing about at the start line for an eternity... I could go on about how to put all this right... but why bother? Nobody listens or does anything about it... So I just won't go again, as simple as that And I only live a mile down the road. Cardiff will probably be my last Speedway meeting this year -

well done Trumpy... it takes a big man to apologise, especially when what he said was bang on the mark. I imagine the hairdresser is mincing about his salon waving it about with glee -

British Final And Semi Finals
IainB replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I hope Ben Barker doesn't qualify for cardiff as It's more entertaining reading about his antics in the crowd on the forums -
Well what a surprise! It was actually a very entertaining meeting with some good tussles on track. A prize worth winning and in my opinion a million times better than the PLRC last weekend which really was quite boring. Perhaps the BSPA can now build on tonights meeting and put the ELRC back at the top of the domestic calendar where it belongs. Also perhaps the BSPA ought to think about barring any rider that drops out of this meeting without a genuine reason from having a testamonial/benefit/farewell meeting when the time comes as they'll expect riders and fans to turn up to support that. Well done to Leigh Adams who has always been a good servant to the British Leagues

I did that myself a few weeks back when the poole arena match overran... all I got was the overrun bit instead of the whole thing, even though I had recorded the whole thing. As soon as it started to overrun into the next program it over wrote the original recording -
Sullivan Out...shields In
IainB replied to Sir Josten's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
quote from Sully's website Ryan said: "Boyce told me Crump wanted me off the team because my face didn't fit. So I agreed to stay home to keep the team happy and I wished them luck! Boyce also admitted he gave me the worst draw in Peterborough with twice gate 3 every track grade. I don't think if they want me to ride in the final, but if they do, I'am ready to race for Australia!"
