  1. Nothing new here though is there... I remember many years ago Cov turning up at KL with Lee Coleman (where is he now?) replacing Hans Nielsen, the only thing was that this was in the days before the internet so nobody was aware of this until the parade! At least now we're all well informed enough to stay away and save some money, that's about the only positive I can draw from the whole sorry shambles
  2. It says a lot about the quality of racing these days that this thread is mostly about rulebook technicalities and helmets touching tapes, yes there was 1 marginally good race but this was over after a lap really. The sport ain't what it used to be! On a positive note, good to see Nicholls looking the most competitive he has done in years, must have bought a rocket for the British Final!
  3. They should do what they do in the GP and have a clock on the centre showing how much of the 2 mins is left, if a rider isn't ready, he's out. It works brilliantly in the GP, a few riders got excluded once and it never happened again. Generally speedway is run in such a slap dash way that (perhaps it should be renamed to this, slapdashway) that the 2 mins can easily end up being 3, yes I have timed it in the past (anorak!)
  4. Any ideas when we can expect the results of the inquest that was going to take place? it's been a few months now and I've not seen anything? #JustSaying
  5. I don't believe this is the case for one moment, surely every right thinking speedway fan wants this to happen. It's just that the tease of this thread was for some concrete news and quite frankly it's no further forward from happening today as it was at the beginning of the week/month/year.
  6. I wish the Leicester track had been based on Blackbird Road, never mind. Good luck though
  7. And while we're being all negative, I don't know why Gordon/Morton keep going off to have a look at Torun, if the artist impression is anything to go by they'd be better off going to the East of England Showground
  8. erm No! I go to the speedway to be entertained by the racing, and not to bother other people around me.
  9. Because I'd like to know who's in the race Yes the well being of the riders has priority, this doesn't mean you have to ignore the punters for over an hour, only in the last 10 minutes or so was anything done to break the boredom. If it's tractors and diesel fumes that do it for you, then... I suppose, why not?
  10. As a Cov fan this was pretty much a shambles from start to finish. Car Park - swamp Turnstiles - A Joke Howarth - Should have stayed in Sheffield Garrity - look at the white line Bomber - What happened in his first race? Announcer - Only 2 riders in every race Delay - 1 Hour, 2 Tractors
  11. At last! Must have read my tweet, took em long enough though
  12. 40 mins of tractor racing! How about some rider interviews?
  13. Bomber obviously knows how to ride a bike, pass riders and is fast enough to win races... when he gates When he gates! It's his obvious weak point. I've spent years watching him in the grand prix and he's nearly always a bike length down before the race is 1 second in. That's far too much to give away at that level and he's not much better at league level. It's there for all to see. What I'd like to know is, what has he done to solve that problem in the last 10 years? Because as far as I can see that's the ONLY problem he's got I know if I were in his position with such an obvious major flaw in my game and I had aspirations of being world class and not just a journey man I would be working hard on this particular aspect of my game, he's got everything else. From an outsiders point of view it seems to me he's labelled himself as a bad starter and that's it. Surely in 2014, sports science is sophisticated enough with the right mentoring for this weakness to be eradicated from his game
  14. It's not even as though it's a one off, look at last years ERC and 4's... there's probably others, I've lost count
  15. The only shower in the Coventry area today was the shower of sh!t that runs British Speedway... when is somebody going to take responsibility and resign?
  16. I blame the fans, yes those of you that attended should know that the Coventry track becomes unrideable after even a little bit of rain, this is why I stay away if there's been any rain on it on the afternoon of a meeting, it's been the same for the last 10 or 15 years. This kind of thing usually happens at least once a season and people still go and are still surprised. I'm afraid you only have yourself to blame
