  1. Maybe run a "masters series" as a 2nd half to bring some old punters back, all riding standard equipment supplied by the club?
  2. They'll just concentrate on the leader like they always do Speedway brought in a points system so complex I need to take my laptop with me to work out who's got how ever many points
  3. you forgot to mention "family sport"
  4. Let's not be too quick to write Scott off, especially at CL level. He captained the side to the Championship and finished top of the averages, he may not be as competitive as he used to be at the highest level but he is one of a handful of riders (in the CL) that have mastered BP and I would pay to watch. The place will be poorer without him.
  5. How about the winner of the GP is awarded (or deducted?) enough points by winning the race to place them 1 point above the 2nd placed rider in the meeting... I can't work out whether I'm joking or not
  6. Didn't Prince Albert () attend the first Cardiff GP with a view of holding one in Monaco? Obviously never happened. How about a GP on the Isle of Man during TT Week?
  7. Castanga says “The main thinking for us is to harmonise our championship scoring system with other big sports events so that the winner always comes away with the most points, which will help attract and retain a wider audience for our sport.” I can't think of any other World Championship series that has 2 semis and a final, although no doubt somebody will correct me. So if you want to harmonise with "other big sports" (and that's a whole different argument as to whether Speedway is a "big sport") then award the points after 20 heats... other wise leave well alone
  8. If it's anything like the relationship with the fans it won't last long
  9. Reading the OP, it's almost as if I've watched the show myself anyway
  10. I used to follow Leicester Speedway on Twitter... until they blocked me, turns out they didn't want to hear my opinions during one of the debacles that were run at BP this year. So perhaps that is buzzing? I'll never know. It's easier than ever before for somebody to interview somebody or take video using a mobile phone and upload it to a website... yet still nothing
  11. Come on the club are responsible for who they partner with. In fact I'm not particularly interested in who to blame... it just needs putting right
  12. When live Speedway was first televised a lot of people thought and were saying that it's the perfect sport for TV with it's natural advert breaks. The trouble is that the production has never evolved since the early days of the Sky contract, in fact it's possibly devolved and is very much the same today as it was 20 odd years ago. The coverage is kept very much at a high level, with the usual questions of "what's the track like?", "are you going to make any changes to your bike?" and the trouble with that is that if the answer is anything other than "slick, patchy" or "yes" 20 years after it first being televised I still have no idea about the finer aspects of the sport because instead of digging down into this the TV producers seem more intent on plugging what's coming up in the next few weeks instead of concentrating on what's going on at the particular match they are televising, it's something that particularly annoys me when after heat 1 or 2 they're already turning their sights on to what's coming up in the future
  13. I've got to say that whoever is in charge of Leicester's media really does need replacing... I expected to return from Glasgow to catch up on all of the reaction, not particularly in the media, but quite certainly on the website, pictures, interviews with riders and management, video of Ellis Perks clinching the final in that fantastic heat 14 and the celebrations afterwards. Only there's nothing, just a bog standard match report "GLASGOW 50 LIONS 40 (AGG: 89-91)", that's the only clue on the website that Lions have done anything at all on a Tuesday night in October, and they lost. It's a bit of an insult to the fans that have been supporting the club all year long and had the 2nd leg taken away from them. Is it any wonder that it's not in the local paper when the club can't even be bothered to do media for their fans on their own website... just another match on a Tuesday night in October. The fans won't get to see this team again, the team that won the league title for the first time in 50 years! See you in March... and oh yes if you don't come in enough numbers we'll close down. DISGRACEFUL!!
  14. Great... There is at least some hope then
  15. Given the choice between the Faccennas or Buster Chapman buying up all the clubs in a league I know which one I'd prefer
  16. I saw something on TV a while back and it said that Polish was 2nd only to Japanese in it's difficulty to learn for foreigners Do Eurosport produce/air any other magazine style programmes of other sports?
  17. Glasgow pretty much pressed the self destruct button in the final over the 2 legs right from the start (of both meetings) with countless points thrown away which in hindsight could have seen them as comfortable winners. I'm not saying Leicester were lucky as there's no luck in touching the tapes or falling off or knocking your team mates off and some may argue in engine failures also... but Leicester have such a solid side with a great blend of youth and experience that any dropped points prove almost impossible to claw back. It was my first visit to Ashfield and I have to say the whole place oozes professionalism from the moment you turn up at the stadium you can tell that promotion have put in so much effort. This should be the model that all other clubs aspire to... if only they could find a way to make it pay! Watching the 2 legs of the final reminded me how good the sport of Speedway can be and why I love it.
  18. You should try and keep the fans you've got before trying to attract new one... In all honesty British Speedway and Eurosport is probably a good fit... You get the broadcast partner you deserve
  19. And a person to edit it and rose significantly when the meeting was promoted with reduced admission
  20. All this talk of highlights shows... history shows that Eurosport put zero effort into compiling highlights
  21. Unless there's a get out clause like when sky binned us off
  22. Highly unlikely... Cycling is a global sport, with at least one major global event happening every year for 3 weeks and millions participating worldwide... Speedway on the other hand, well I'll let you fill in the blanks... I do hope you're right though
