  1. I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss was about? Visibility seems a bit of a red herring to me, it was barely raining, a light drizzle/heavy mist, the track certainly wasn't what I'd call "wet", just a bit heavy... In fact I'd say it was perfect, easily providing the best racing so far this year at the EoEA(S)
  2. Saw this round the back of turn 4... are the promotion trying to send a message to Chris?
  3. I'm not sure you're comparing apples with apples there There's a reason the British F1 GP is not being run on a Monday night... I've been staggered by the lack of self promotion by Leicester after winning their Championship, I've mentioned it a few times on some of the recent Leicester threads and have mostly been shutdown by people close to the club. What is the point of paying to go along to watch a "team" try and win a Championship and when they do it almost gets ignored! Leicester regularly run matches around 1 hour 50 minutes, for me that's 20 minutes too long... the other week they even managed to cram 15 races into 2 and a half hours, admittedly due to inadequate medical cover. I'm pretty sure that back in the day at Leicester (Blackbird Road) they used to allow free entry to the stadium after the main match was done, not sure if they did that at all tracks? And I'm pretty sure that's how I and probably many others started going down regularly, I went to a few "freebies" liked what I saw and then started paying to watch the main match. I wouldn't want a meeting to be over in 45 mins, equally I don't expect to be stood on the terraces for 2 and a half hours, 90 mins seems to be a happy medium with some kind of "2nd half". Perhaps 90 mins should be the target and like in Cricket with slow over rates, some kind of penalty introduced for those that can't. I don't go to the Speedway to watch you having banter with your mates, I'm there to watch the Speedway racing on the track. I suggest you meet with your mates before or after the meeting
  4. It is the re-staging from the 24th of May... found out at the turnstiles
  5. Is this match the restaging of the rained off fixture from 24/05/21? I've got tickets to the A & B matches... not sure which one to use... I'll take them both just in case!
  6. He's not going to get his confidence back when he's on his @rse all the time, I don't think a spell at reserve is going to cure that chink in his armour
  7. It was but they also mentioned concern about the ticket sales for the Redcar match in the same press release
  8. I've thought the same for all of the matches I've been to this season, so I was quite surprised when the promotion came out voicing their concerns at ticket numbers. As they don't publish attendance numbers I suppose we'll never know
  9. Do they even still exist? Or have they gone the same way as The Golden Hammer?
  10. Yeah, I get what you're saying about them being lower down the pecking order due to inexperience, I just wondered whether they were involved in the boot camp things that GB Speedway run. So far I think they've been the shining light of Leicester's season... long may it continue!
  11. Are the twins involved in the young Lions (national level) at all does anybody know? All I ever hear about are the Kemp, Palin, Rowe, Flint etc. I've never seen the twins wearing national garb
  12. Thanks for your comments, it's good to have a fair a reasonable debate and I totally take on board what you're saying about covid retrictions etc. Not knowing exactly what's going on behind the scenes I'm not fully aware of what the extra issues are with putting a match on. And I thank you for your invitation to club social events but I like many punters just want to pay my £17 have a good evenings entertainment watching my team win, lose or draw. I make my comments on here and often seem to be stonewalled by seeming club "insiders" telling me that if I did want to see the league trophy paraded I should have gone to watch a cubs match, attended the end of season do or gone to a darts match and that because I didn't I've missed my chance and that the team that won that championship has been disbanded now so tough. I'm told that the riders didn't do a lap of victory after the Scunny match because they wanted to go home because they were at Newcastle the next day and it looked like it was going to rain... Come on! I've been following Leicester since the late 70's so I'm pretty hardened to being taking for granted by Speedway promotions by now, it's just that these things are easy wins at little or no cost and imo go a long way to building up a relationship and rapport with fans. If I'm honest, like I said I was at Glasgow on the night and have seen the trophy but I know the vast majority of fans probably haven't and it's not like we're habitual winners lol I just want to see Leicester Speedway thrive and for the place to be packed with fans and for it to be around for many years to come
  13. Sorry, if I came across as a bit rude. I feel quite strongly about it that's all. The promotion have been vocal about the crowd numbers and yet seem to do little to promote the success the club have achieved. Why would you not, a lot of people are attracted by success, the likes of me and you and probably most on here will turn up week after week, win lose or draw. Look at the website... you really have to dig to see that we achieved anything. We should be cashing in on that success
  14. OK... I get it, you obviously have to be an insider to be allowed to enjoy the victory. What was the attendance at the darts nights? Many kids there? Any riders there? I just don't get why the fans that go along every week to support the Leicester Lions and aren't members of the supporters club seem to be ignored. The trophy has been paraded in front of Cubs fans and darts fans lol I'll shut up about it now... why would we want to try and attract anybody to come along and promote the team? why would you try and encourage people to come along every week to watch a team try and win a competition that you then don't really celebrate when you do win.
  15. Jealous! There speaks the fan of a team that has never won a professional league title
  16. Lenny Lion, Yeah, there were some good tussles on track but as a contest between 2 teams it was a non event really, you can only beat what is there though I suppose. I must admit I don't hang on the announcer's every word, what I'm getting at is the fan experience, now I don't know if you're on the paid/volunteer staff but as a punter paying £17 you have to ask if you're made to feel as if you're watching something special. Because winning the Championship title is something special, double special if you're a Leicester fan I would say. Rather than it being mentioned by chance by the announcer where is the big banner on the entrance to the stadium "YOU ARE ENTERING THE LIONS DEN - LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!", where is the parade music, Queen - We Are The Champions... cliched I know, but it does what it says on the tin, so cliched it's not a cliche... Why isn't Ryan Douglas coming round on parade every week holding the trophy aloft? As for the parading of the trophy... Are you referring to the cubs match the night after Glasgow? Now if I'm honest, I saw the lads get presented with the trophy at Glasgow as I was fortunate enough to be there, if you're really trying to suggest that showing and sharing with the Cubs fans a trophy that was won by the Leicester Lions is reward enough for the Lions fans... you're sounding a bit like a politician caught with his trousers down lol. Judging by the crowd numbers there are a lot of fans that don't attend both teams matches. Where is the opportunity to have your picture taken with the trophy? All of that costs nothing, except maybe the banner, which you could get sponsored. Where's the self promotion? We seem to be ashamed that we won the damn thing!
  17. Yes, I noticed that... was watching the grader going round during the interval and there wasn't much to grade... And I assume that the unholy noise coming from the grader was it scraping the base of the track. It's not been the same since Glyn Taylor went, whatever happened to him I wonder? ... but surprisingly there were some good on track tussles
  18. Pretty much a no contest last night with the Newcastle team being woefully understrength... took me back to watching the Invaders in the mid 80's. Both the twins really impressed with Joe being a bit more on the pace this week and both of them showing a real knack with the Leicester track. Presentation was better this week with the riders leaving their helmets in the pits for the opening parade and although there was no victory lap at least the riders came out to the centre green for a chat to the fans... All they've got to do now is acknowledge that we're actually the reigning League Champions, wasn't mentioned once last night, perhaps some of the smoke that is blown up the special one's bottom every week could be spared for the club that won the championship. Maybe with the return of the 2019 skipper next week it may be the ideal opportunity to show the fans the trophy that they paid for the club to win?
  19. It's Ben Barker, the original rider being replaced, right?
  20. It wouldn't be so bad if there was something else on that "trumped" Speedway... even then there's enough free airtime to show a delayed transmission
  21. I take it he didn't sustain any long term injury and is fit to ride then?
  22. I know the last one was... didn't realise the whole series was... they can get stuffed.
