  1. The athletics comparison can be compared to the old knock out style of GP, the way it is run now is a series of races within a series of GP's with knock out style points being awarded, it just doesn't make sense to me They got the positioning wrong after the 20 heats again! Vaculik and Zagar the wrong way around https://www.speedwaygp.com/results/206 Not a chance... unless racers and royals is there
  2. Last time there was tyre trouble... Overseas Final, can't remember the year... Rider revolt!
  3. may as well dish the points out before the event if nobody cares how they get them
  4. This is what was posted on Twitter, a grab of the scorecard shown on TV, as long as the ref and meeting secretary know what's going on... stuff the fans and viewers
  5. You have to be an anorak to understand the new points system... and I'm not talking about the final, the whole bloody lot! Perhaps we should be running 1 70 lap race then? To bring us in line I can't wait for the last GP when we're all waiting for some "anorak" feeding details into a spreadsheet to work out who has just become world champion, because somebody's finished level on points and rider x beat rider y in heat z but then rider a finished 2nd to rider b in heat c etc. etc. Thankfully it'll all be over in 5 weeks and we won't be going on about it for 5 months like we could have been
  6. I haven't filled a programme in for about 20 years... The point is you shouldn't need to. Perhaps it's why they've changed the scoring system to boost programme sales, it's the only logical reason.
  7. Also, looking at the lower scorers, 2 finished on 6 and 3 riders on 5... Yet I have to put all those heat details into a super computer to work out the championship points... It's absolutely BARMY!
  8. Well, according SGP's own Twitter feed they must have got the Semi-Final line-ups wrong... join the confused club
  9. Who took your uncle though? I agree, I think possibly most folk start doing stuff, especially from an earlier age, because an adult in their life takes them, maybe when you get older because a mate goes. I've never really seen something on TV and thought I'm going to start to go to that
  10. I think the only way this points system works is if it's used in the old style "knock-out" system, when riders progressed through the meeting by coming 1st or 2nd, 2 3rd or 4th's and you were gone, anything other than that and you need to be using standard cumulative 3,2,1,0 and maybe double points for a final appearance
  11. ... a bit like getting 2 points in a league meeting for "drawing" away from home!
  12. Not aimed at you... but I've kind of lost interest already, which is my general point. Why is it so damn complicated?
  13. I watch the GP's to try and relax... not as a brain trainer lol So the points you score in the qualifiers determine how many GP points you get in the Semi's, positions 5th to 8th... but not in the Final 1st to 4th I'll watch tonight's with an Excel spreadsheet open on my laptop
  14. I'll say it's unfair... how can the 3rd and 4th of each semi get different points? Nothing fair about that
  15. I'll enjoy the racing, as I always have, and live with it as it ain't gonna change anytime soon, you got to admit it does open the sport up to ridicule when put under scrutiny though.
  16. You don't stop learning once you leave school... I've learnt many things since I left school
  17. What seems to have escaped everybody's attention is the quali system for the semis? Can anybody explain it to me? Semi 1: 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th Semi 2: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th So for the 4 losing semi finalists Semi 1: 3rd = 11pts, 4th = 10pts Semi 2: 3rd = 12pts, 4th = 9pts Confused!?! He'll probably remind you of KK tonight though Made me feel sick that did... also, and it's a real bug bear of mine and has been the same for ever... when you're actually at a Speedway meeting, remember those days, after a rider won an event or race, did you fix your gaze on the guy waving the flag? No? Perhaps you started looking around the crowd for somebody that was waving a flag of the nation of the victor? No? Maybe you stopped looking at what was going on in a rush to fill your programme in? No? Maybe just maybe you were looking at what was going on, on the track!!! Arrrrggghhh! A great GP last night after all of the dross served up so far in the Ekstraliga and great to have 2 commentators who inject some excitement and enthusiasm into proceedings, Didn't think the crowd was anywhere near 50% capacity and one thing I thought was noticeable by their absence were the start girls, was this down to pc reasons?
