Leicester vs Birmingham 25/06/2022 CL
IainB replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That will be a tough choice for young Max Perry then, Peterborough mascot but a Lion Cub, the decision might be made for him by the time he hits 16 anyway with the latest news about the Showground -

Is Max Perry the lad from Peterborough? A Peterborough asset? Not sure who Max James is signed to? Maybe Leicester? I don't know why we're developing other teams riders -

Leicester binned Rowe off (or was it the other way around) on June the 2nd, Scunny signed Connor Coles on June the 8th, so it is a slap in the face for Connor Coles and the people that turn up to watch the Cubs under the misapprehension that it's a feeder system for the senior team. There was no Cubs team before the Thompson Twins and you begin to wonder if there'll be a Cubs after the Thompson Twins, they can't ride in that team forever (can they?) -
I've often come away from the Speedway looking like an Indian when they've not put enough water on the track!

Peterborough V Ipswich 20th June
IainB replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Basso said after the match, was just racing (British Speedway Podcast) -
Div 1: Belle Vue Ipswich Kings Lynn Peterborough Sheffield Wolverhampton Poole Leicester Glasgow Oxford Div 2: Berwick Birmingham Plymouth Scunthorpe Kent Mildenhall Redcar IOW ANY new team coming in/back 7,6,5 or 4 rider teams, what ever is needed to run without doubling up All clubs to run a 3/4 rider junior team as a 2nd half

You get the feeling that the "promoters" don't want to run meetings, any excuse to postpone and the gradual destruction of fixture staples through the years
-
I really hope so too... but if it's anything like the Coventry fiasco they had years of warning yet did absolutely nothing about getting a new home. I fear Edinburgh & Peterborough will go the same way, although there is a dog track in Peterborough I understand
-
The Edinburgh derbies will be a thing of the past at the end of this season... except for early season challenges against a Monarchs team made up of riders with very tenuous links to the club
-
Surely there will come a point where running 2 6 team leagues just won't be sustainable? I'm sick of going through these threads every year reading the same old comments, you can probably copy and past last years Eastbourne thread into this one and Rye House before that... etc.
-
maybe not... but if it ain't next year, it'll be coming soon, it's just putting off the inevitable unless there are BIG changes to address the problems we can all see
-
There's so many reasons... and we've all discussed them ad infinitum and still nobody does anything to address any of the problems. Likelihood next year will be (must be) one league with reduced team numbers, which of course will be launched with great fanfare, a new era etc. etc. 5 year plan blah blah blah
-
I think Peterborough are on borrowed time also
-
Happy days! People will be telling us soon that nobody liked the 4's least of all the riders
-
If you remember before the pandemic struck it was going to be on the day after the British GP at Leicester... and everybody was up in arms about that
-
If the promoter's can't take it seriously, why should the riders... and if the riders can't why would the fans This will probably be the last one... which is a bloody travesty!
-
PLAY-OFF PICTURE – HOW IT WORKS– Winner of each group to 3 team final held at neutral track (Sheffield on a Sunday in November) over a 6 rider 18 heat format.
-
So the current state of British Speedway... British Final on a Monday night, CLRC on a Wednesday night, No Fours, No PLRC, No Test Matches, No point
-
Miss National League?
-
Do you get the feeling they don't want fans attending this one?
-
You're lucky it's in the UK... next year it'll be subbed out to Poland
