  1. Yeah... there's a load riding in the U24 league though that seem to have bypassed British Speedway altogether.
  2. You'll be worrying about it when we beat you in the Pay Off final by 2 points because Cleggy has beaten your reserve in heat 2
  3. Great crowd at Oxford last week for the Leicester match... was as good as it used to be on the Good Friday visits I used to make back in the late 80's / early 90's
  4. IR35 could be an issue then ... that would just about finish the sport off in the country
  5. Are they self employed sub contractors in Poland? Or salaried employees? Either way it wouldn't stop you starting a union/ riders association
  6. That's why I mentioned a riders union... Unity is Strength, comrade
  7. So 2 leagues, GP's, SEC, Longtrack, SoN, SGP Qualifiers, SEC Qualifiers, open meetings is OK but not 3 leagues? The restriction of trade law... i.e. Bosman
  8. I thought Keleher was a kid lol... turns out he's finished before he's started. Where has he been all his career?
  9. Disappointing? It's total madness, it's a shame there's no riders union to stand up to the Polish league restrictions which surely break European law!
  10. Dunno... What was the name of that Aussie bloke, Keleher or something, people were tipping him, there's loads of young Aussie's riding in Poland. Or somebody from an NDL team. Or a young Dane, a la Jonas Knudsen at Berwick I'm not complaining, nothing against Cleggy, just not a name that gets me fizzing and not really an investment in a rider for the future of the club like Knudsen should be for Berwick
  11. Yes, I think he mentioned it during the GP, also Robert Lambert may also fancy it. It would be good to hear something from Tai, managed to ride in the Peter Craven Memorial. Am I right in thinking that generally riders from other nations are "encouraged" to ride in their national championships or risk losing their licence?
  12. The most gutting incident of the night was the start marshal trying to get his gut between Drew Kemp and Chris Harris in heat 11!
  13. There's just been a 50 minute delay with Rafa's match on Centre Court while they put the lid on... does anybody have the address for the British Tennis Forum? I'm absolutely livid
  14. What a great night last night, nice weather, big crowd, a sprinkling of good racing... and a Leicester win! A big congratulations to everybody that has made Oxford come back... the stadium was looking the best I have ever seen it, it's a great little race track as well with its straight and bends being in good proportions. That's the positives, things that still need working on... While the track proportions are good for Speedway racing, the surface was a bit dry and dusty, but that's not a problem unique to Oxford, the "music" before the start of each race got a bit tedious after about heat 6... too much tractor racing and for the love of god SEND THE RIDERS ROUND AFTER THEY'VE WON A RACE! Big crowd in, most to watch Oxford, but all to watch the riders and they disappear back into the pits as soon as they've won a race! No geeing the crowd up in such a close match. Great meeting though, it's matches like this that keep you going through all the crap
  15. You would hope that this freak incident has been fed back to the air fence manufactures and that they are working on designing in some kind of non-return valve fix so it doesn't happen again in the future
  16. I was at Oxford last night (vs Leicester), first of all I'll say what a great match it was and a bit emotional to be back after 15 years... If Cov ever came back it may destroy me lol But I must comment on the meeting presentation, Oxford had 8 race winners... yet only 2 riders came around for a victory lap! I'm not saying it would but if they'd come round an geed the crowd up a bit more they may have just squeaked it in the end, the crowd can sometimes be your 8th man, the riders really need to engage with the fans more... and what a crowd it was! It was like watching a match from the late 80's and 90's! Also the "music" played just before the race stats grated on me a bit... 90's club anthem! Also too much tractor racing! Oxford are still in their honeymoon period and it was great to be a part of it last night and well done to everybody that has made it happen, but that honeymoon period will eventually wear off and the crowds will level off also. Great night with a Leicester win though
  17. Maybe, he crashed in heat 3 though, and rode 3 more times
  18. It's bringing back many happy memories for me, last time I was here I had my old man in tow, it's at times like this standing here on the 3rd turn that I miss the old bugger more than usual. I went into autopilot when i got here climbing up the terraces on the 4th turn to get to the 3rd... but of course the pits have moved to the back straight now and you can walk around the bottom of the terraces
  19. If it's the crash against Ippo he rode on for the rest of the night, I'm confused
  20. Why no Nicholls? Something to do with concussion? Is that from his spill for Peterborough against Ipswich? Or did he knock his head after that?
  21. There's a one metre perimeter fence around the safety fence at Peterborough, where in theory you could stand... if you had a death wish, If a bike don't get you the shale spray will
  22. Brilliant and much welcome news! As long as there's a track in place and bare minimum spectator facilities that's all that really matters for 2023, continuity is essential... well done to all involved, I really thought it'd be curtains for the Monarchs. We've all heard so much crap before down the years from various homeless promotions, I really hope this one comes to fruition
