MORE POLISH LEAGUE INTERFERENCE
IainB replied to Gunner85's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Looks like Robert got a fair crack of the whip then, but obviously he was scoring the points. Compare that to Dan Bewley in the season just gone, straight into the top league, totally out of his depth, dropped brought back due to injuries on loaned equipment... I wonder if Wroclaw will have him back next season -

Thanks Fromafar, yeah, I know that but I think the discussion is about British youth signing up to Polish clubs. I know Lambert shone in a pretty p155 poor Rybnik team last year, I genuinely don't know what he's done in Poland before this though -

Which Polish club did Robert ride for and from what age? Genuine question -

We have training facilities in this country, I can always hear the bikes going round Leicester... even this summer. The point that has been raised here is that Poland will be good for the development our "youngest and best talent". The reality is they'll need to outlay thousands in equipment, totally commit themselves to putting Poland first and then not be given the opportunity to ride if they run a last place, they'd be far better off in the UK getting track time imo. It's only when they are nearing the top of the UK averages that they should even be thinking about Poland -

This is exactly the point though, unless you are regularly scoring the points or Polish you won't regularly be in the team -
Yes there is... don't call me Shirley

Lee Richardson would never have made it if he'd been Polish, he was absolutely rubbish in his first couple of years riding Speedway, could hardly score a point, was persevered with in this country and went on to become an exceptional rider -

1 ride, 1 last place, that's it no more rides... see you next week, same again a couple of times, see you at the end of the season when we're struggling for riders. That's no way to bring on British youth. In the UK you are guaranteed 3 rides in a match and it's very very rare that a rider wouldn't be given at least a month to prove themselves due to average restrictions -

Great... unless they're treated like Batch, Kurtz, KK and to a lesser extent Bewley -
Antonio Lindbäck has decided to retire

Seems a bit premature to me, I fancy he'll be back at some stage in the future. I think he's always struggled to handle the pressure at the highest level but I do think he could make a decent living riding in the Swedish, British and Danish Leagues and open meetings around Europe without the pressures of the GP and Polish Leagues and he'd probably enjoy it a hell of a lot more too. -

... If only James Sarjeant was riding in those days, he could have, erm... cleaned up -
If you sign up to a VPN service then they'll provide some software to install, once installed it just sits open on your PC and you can choose which country you want to connect through. So if you choose a country where the SGP have not sold their rights to, I don't know Canada for example, your PC will appear as if it's in Canada when connected to the internet. Then you'd head over to the SGP website and follow the link to watch the world feed, it's carried through YouTube. I use NordVPN paid about £50 I think for 3 years after cashback (TopCasBack or Quidco) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/surfshark-vpn-black-friday-deal-ps168mo-75-cb-at-quidco-3584443 Not so sure about the MotoGP's I'm not really interested in that so have never looked into it
-
Ideal opportunity for Speedway to introduce a cost cap next season and I'm not talking about what the riders get paid but what they're allowed to spend
-
Buy a cheap VPN and watch the world feed live for "free"
-
How many doses have the Germans bought? We got 40m initially... mind you we've still got to balls up the distribution of it yet
-
I remember when some GP's were tucked away on the red button in SD when Sky covered it
-
I thought the GP coverage by Eurosport was pretty much in line with what Sky and BT provided, studio based with a presenter and an "expert" and taking the world feed, can't remember if they were actually at the venue for Cardiff but I guess they were?
-
I think there maybe a Window Cleaning world championship and it's being televised on Eurosport next year
-
I quite enjoy Dave Rowe and Sam as a double act now... wouldn't want to see them on anything more mainstream than Eurosport though

As is always the case the power sits with the riders, if they choose to use it collectively. Poland seem to try something like this every year but always have to bow to the strength of the riders, they maybe able to make the rule attractive for the big polish hitters like Zmarzlik, Janowski, Dudek etc. But as we've seen this last season if your face doesn't fit for whatever reason you're very quickly thrown on the scrap heap, Batch, Bewley, KK, Kurtz etc. Can't see the riders of this class signing up to these rules unless they're guaranteed a fixed income retainer -
Have you been?

I don't want to turn this into a Covid argument and this is probably one for the nutjob Covid thread but New Zealand, 2 Islands, are "living with the virus" just fine, sport being played to full stadiums
-
Tidiest I've ever seen it though...

Speedway is not a reflection of society though is it and that's part of it's problem imo. You can count the number of "BAME" people involved in the sport on one hand, Women? Can anybody name more than 5? Nobody in Speedway is Gay? The crowd is, in the majority, aging and male
