You're perhaps not as surprised at their progress as I am then... I've only really seen the twins mascoting at Coventry and Leicester, which is why I'm so surprised to see all these kids "burst" onto my scene at once

Witches v wolves 28th June, TV meeting

me neither tbh lol -
I don't think anybody is under the illusion that clubs wouldn't hesitate to drop any of these riders at the drop of a hat if their averages didn't fit. Yes there are issues within the sport, we all know that. I don't claim to know the complete history of these riders and how they've come to be at the standard that they are... but somebody is doing something right somewhere as I've not seen a crop of youngster like this since the days of Loram, Louis, Screen, Dugard, Barker, Norris, Havelock, Silver, Stonehewer who were all BU21 rostrum placed in late 80's / early 90's. You can only develop a young rider to a certain point and at that point they have to "go it alone" and build a career on the development they have been given to that point. Have you been to watch any of these riders?

I'm a bit of a doom monger myself... only because I want things to drastically improve and see the sport succeed and I'd be the first to be on here mongering doom if these riders were young wobblers totally out of their depth... but for once they're actually not! Now not all of them are going to go on and become world champions, or even be world class, some will undoubtedly drop by the wayside but at the moment, for me, I think the future looks quite bright for these kids. If anybody hasn't seen these kids yet I suggest you get yourself along to have a look at them, you may be surprised... I was

Witches v wolves 28th June, TV meeting

Maybe time to reintroduce tape touching? Except for the drone! Or 1 minute for an unsatisfactory start? As indeed were you! You should, it was one of the better televised matches Now that is an excellent series... wouldn't stop watching live Speedway to watch an on demand programme though -
Since the post pandemic return of the Swedish League both last season and this the crowds that I've seen on the Premier Sports TV matches have been absolutely woeful, from what I can see from the camera angles, with seemingly more people in the pits than on the terraces. They're still tracking a number of the big names from around the world... How on earth are they managing to fund this? I assume government restrictions are still in place? Are they being funded by the government or have they got a platinum plated TV deal?

As for anybody losing interest, I suggest you get out there and watch some of the young talent that is out there this season. It's been a breath of fresh air watching the likes of Rowe, Palin, Brennan, Flint, Thompson Twins and the others scoring well, being on the pace and getting stuck in and scoring quite well. I know the leagues have been weakened so they may be flattering to deceive a bit but the for long term future of the sport in this country this is a massive positive... all it needs is for the tracks to still be around for them to make a career on, and for those losing interest to go along and have a look at them

Don't know if I'm the only one but I actually thought the back wheel change for Sam Masters before heat 15's last heat decider on Monday night's TV match was quite exciting. It was like watching an action movie with the timer going down on the ticking time bomb only for the hero to cut the red wire with 1 second to spare! Maybe that's the way to go for every heat

Together? Kinky!

Any more duplicates I wonder?
-
That's what I was thinking, the numbers are protected in the SGP & SEC then?
-
What's the score with rider numbers? I assume riders can just choose their own regardless of whether anybody else already has that number? I've noticed Craig Cook, Grigori Laguta and Anders Rowe all running 111

Don't mention league titles... I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it

Cat Fight. P'boro v Sheffield 28 June
IainB replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Probably has cataracts -
Pretty sure there's not enough riders for 1BL, unless you went to 5 man teams. Maybe a more sensible solution would be 2 regional leagues, riders could maybe still double up and fans maybe encouraged to travel to away matches more

Cat Fight. P'boro v Sheffield 28 June

I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss was about? Visibility seems a bit of a red herring to me, it was barely raining, a light drizzle/heavy mist, the track certainly wasn't what I'd call "wet", just a bit heavy... In fact I'd say it was perfect, easily providing the best racing so far this year at the EoEA(S) -

Saw this round the back of turn 4... are the promotion trying to send a message to Chris? -
I'm not sure you're comparing apples with apples there There's a reason the British F1 GP is not being run on a Monday night... I've been staggered by the lack of self promotion by Leicester after winning their Championship, I've mentioned it a few times on some of the recent Leicester threads and have mostly been shutdown by people close to the club. What is the point of paying to go along to watch a "team" try and win a Championship and when they do it almost gets ignored! Leicester regularly run matches around 1 hour 50 minutes, for me that's 20 minutes too long... the other week they even managed to cram 15 races into 2 and a half hours, admittedly due to inadequate medical cover. I'm pretty sure that back in the day at Leicester (Blackbird Road) they used to allow free entry to the stadium after the main match was done, not sure if they did that at all tracks? And I'm pretty sure that's how I and probably many others started going down regularly, I went to a few "freebies" liked what I saw and then started paying to watch the main match. I wouldn't want a meeting to be over in 45 mins, equally I don't expect to be stood on the terraces for 2 and a half hours, 90 mins seems to be a happy medium with some kind of "2nd half". Perhaps 90 mins should be the target and like in Cricket with slow over rates, some kind of penalty introduced for those that can't. I don't go to the Speedway to watch you having banter with your mates, I'm there to watch the Speedway racing on the track. I suggest you meet with your mates before or after the meeting

Is this match the restaging of the rained off fixture from 24/05/21? I've got tickets to the A & B matches... not sure which one to use... I'll take them both just in case! -
He's not going to get his confidence back when he's on his @rse all the time, I don't think a spell at reserve is going to cure that chink in his armour
-
It was but they also mentioned concern about the ticket sales for the Redcar match in the same press release
-
I've thought the same for all of the matches I've been to this season, so I was quite surprised when the promotion came out voicing their concerns at ticket numbers. As they don't publish attendance numbers I suppose we'll never know

Shhhhh!
