Surely you should replace them not when they become a certain age but when they become unsafe... seems like a terrible waste, what happens to the old ones? Perhaps they should be recycled into track covers
-
No problem... so it is self imposed by the speedway authorities then, that's all I was asking

Leicester vs Plymouth 28 August 2021

Yes, you're right it was obviously Jason Edwards that they were paying too much that's why he had to go, but it was too late Eastbourne could never recover from his wage demands... mean while Lawson was sat in the pits refusing to take his rides because he couldn't afford to take to the track -
Yes, that's exactly right, it's just what I said in my post, I distinctly said all tracks should have unsafe air bag panels all the way around the track... smh So, by your logic they should be replaced with brand new ones for every match
-
Yes, I also take your point, there are 2 ways of looking at it. Lawson has already closed one club down this season with his wage demands and Plymouth already have Jason Crump and Bjarne Pedersen on their payroll. The club went bust only 5 years ago and found their level at NDL, now they're breaking the bank and probably won't even make the pay-offs (play offs)
-
I'll be going to watch the Speedway, not argue the toss over safety certificates, thank you very much. All I'm thinking is if it's a self imposed rule by the speedway authorities they're not doing themselves any favours by requiring a whole tracks worth of fencing panels to be changed in one go. It's like chucking a pair of socks away when when develops a hole in it.

There are many arguments... that is just one of them. Lawson has already closed 1 club down this season with his wage demands, now he's gone to a club that already have Crump and Pedersen on their payroll and are unlikely to make the pay-offs (play-offs) -

"Rising Star" Jason Edwards gets binned off again! For somebody that already has a job at Kings Lynn -
Who issues the safety certificate?

Like a fine wine I get better with age. I protect myself in the bad weather... by sitting in a shed
-
Or £25k every 6 years? This is a ticking time bomb for many clubs then!

1 month ago today, I took the time and trouble to write a very polite 860 word email to the Leicester "promotion", asking some of the questions I have asked on here and in the Leicester thread and putting forward some of the ideas I have had and voiced on this forum to help try and improve the visibility of Leicester Speedway as a club and reigning Champions. I'm still waiting for a reply and none of the basic simple things (cost free) I suggested have been acted upon. Not even a courtesy "thank you for your email" (we've put it straight in the bin) reply! Nothing, blanked! So there you have it Leicester fans... you're all being mugged off by a promotion that have absolutely no idea in the meaning of the word... But I'll continue to go... until the next call to arms is issued telling us all that the crowd levels aren't big enough. Don't kid yourselves as soon as the success stops, the crowds WILL drop, but I'll still be there.

Seems a bit excessive to have to buy a whole new fence in one go... why don't clubs buy a few panels a year to spread the cost or even lease them like companies do with other high cost assets?
-
Oh, OK... they don't take them down and store them in a shed then?
-
Why? What happens to them?
-
Probably been asked already... but why do Eastbourne need a new airfence?
-
I still don't get the club asset system, Gordon Pairman kindly explained it on the Club Asstes thread a few weeks ago... but why are riders "assets" of clubs? Do they sell their soul to the devil by accepting a big bung to become a club asset? Back in the day some riders used to own their own contracts and even buy their contracts back from clubs. The riders are self employed, I assume they run limited companies and in effect do contract work. I am a contractor myself but I've never sold my career away to a single employer who then goes on to charge other companies for the use of my services. I just don't get it. Surely the only way you could be an "asset" is if you were on PAYE, like footballers... but I suspect that may be illegal if ever tested properly.
-
...enough to keep them running

Been thinking about the Eastbourne closure... why was it different to what's happened at Birmingham & Newcastle? Both of those were given opportunities to continue, fixtures rearranged to bring forward attractive opposition and go fund me pages setup. Eastboune, fixtures cancelled, press blackout and then closure!

Long Eaton & Bradford 3 years before that
