Belle Vue Win Top Manchester Sports Award
IainB replied to PotteringAround's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Was that Lemo's minder entering stage right at the end? Who is he? Kept seeing him on the TV coverage -
Sounds like the best thing to do is hold all of the GP's in Poland then

Let's get him in the GP then . Can only comment on what I've seen of him and I've not been impressed, the tracks in this country are very different to those in Poland. -

From what I've seen of him he's more of a number 9... I may come to "rew" those words -
What really affects clubs is bums on seats
-
So what you're really saying is that there's nobody in charge, which would explain everything really. As usual with speedway the management setup is really neither one thing or another. If it was a proper limited company there would be a chief executive officer answerable to the board of directors and/or shareholders. But the board only consists of Godfrey, Louis, Ford & Bates... and as far as I know their club assets are not part of BSPL... So what exactly is BSPL?
-
What's the point of the leader then? I don't think riders being on guarantees has affected crowds much do you?
-
Specifically, the year on year decline of the sport in this country, probably the most tracks closing down in shortest amount of time and culminating in last season, the worst in the sports history imo all under his watch. Look, if you think he's doing a great job, that's fair enough, can you specifically point out any improvements he's made to the sport in this country?
-
I can only go by his track record and not by his words, words are cheap. His track record is appalling
-
The sport in this country is doomed then
-
Yes, totally agree... I'll admit I've not read his interview in the SS, I can only go by what has been put out on socials and websites, but what has he said about any of this? Why hasn't he been transparent about what's going on? As a leader he should be calling these clubs out instead he's complicit in his silence. If he can't control the clubs, which must be like herding cats, then he should stand down and allow somebody else to lead while there are still clubs around to be led
-
That may very well be the case and I'm sure he does a perfectly good enough job for your club, but... I'm afraid they are the facts, 11 clubs gone to the wall under his stewardship and while not directly his fault it is his job to provide inspiration, ideas and leadership, like any leader of any organisation... and what do we get? The most shambolic season in the history of the sport!

He's like the next Bomber Harris with all his guesting... was he declared in 3 teams at the same time though. I thought the powers that be stopped the 3 league merchants, happy to be wrong though -

If i bought a season ticket... i wonder if they'd unblock me from Twitter Even Elon Musk has granted an amnesty -
Back in the day when it used to be Speeway Star vs Speedway Mail the 2 headline photographers used to be Mike Patrick for SS and Ken Carpenter (I think) for SMI. For me even though SS was a magazine and SMI a newspaper the photo's from Ken Carpenter were far superior in clarity than Mike Patricks and even more so when SMI went to a magazine format. For some reason though it was Mike Patrick that got the notoriety... just shows what a silly pair of trousers and a bit of showmanship can do!

Is this the same Rob Godfrey that has been at the helm since 2019 and for whatever reason has seen the demise of Rye House, Somerset, Swindon, Lakeside, Newcastle, Workington, Buxton, Cradley Heath, Eastbourne, Isle of Wight & Stoke since the end of the 2018 season... surely the most disastrous chairmanship of anybody in the history of sport. I'm not sure he's the man for the job personally
-
Can't see Chris Harris being too impressed with this... not only has Schlein come back and stolen his team place but he'll also be taking a lot of his guest bookings which Bomber almost single handedly took on last season

Don't worry they might get to see him as a "home" rider in the pay off final... if this year was anything to go by -
I think if there's asbestos present it's not just a case pf taking a wrecking ball to things. It has to be disposed of in a controlled manner... which will cost

Because generally it was all a bit crap. Long drawn out meetings, sun delays, tractor racing, a crap track and a p1ss poor team. While much of that still applies, the team has been successful on track since the arrival of the special one, and the track has improved immeasurably -

I could see quite a competitive league of Wolves, Ippo, KL, Peterborough, Leicester, Poole & Glasgow... not much between that lot imo -

I was genuinely asking, I don't know the exact answer, the point is, for me, it seems too many. I think Leicester and Poole would have given Peterborough and Lynn a run for their money last season
