  1. If Andersen had only been there 3 times and dropped 1 point to the opposition... what excuse do our top 3 have who have been there loads of times and could only win 1 race between them?
  2. I don't get why loads of people keep criticising the twins away form when it's the top 3 that have been letting us down away from home. Morris has looked a million dollars at home, a proper No 1, but away he's been woeful
  3. Impossible I would say... for what Nigel gave Speedway, the sport probably got him on the cheap. To be fair British Speedway gave him the opportunity 20 or so years ago and mined a gem and he put the graft in and made himself irreplaceable, they'd have to pay out many many thousands of pounds to get the kind of exposure that he gave the sport. SGP also benefited from this.
  4. I don't... and even though he's nothing to do with Speedway presentation anymore, I haven't missed him at all. Nigel has left a massive hole in Speedway
  5. Are we supposed to know who you are?
  6. Are Start Marshals still required to wear the "neutral" stripey tops? Our SM at Leicester has broken ranks and now wears Lions merch. ... and are SM's in communication with the ref using an ear piece and mic?
  7. I'm pretty sure I saw him wearing an ear piece and a mic and was clearly communicating with somebody
  8. Did the start marshal draw her attention to it? Isn't he in radio communication with the ref? He went back and had to release the inside of the tapes so could/ should have done something maybe?
  9. I particularly liked that you were playing I Surrender by Rainbow prior to heat one... good job your lads couldn't hear it
  10. ... and I thought that the announcer had supposed to sound like that
  11. tribute section on talkSport tonight from 9pm
  12. A clip up of the tributes paid to Nigel Pearson on talkSport on Saturday, from 16:30 https://podfollow.com/1476734813/episode/80a94b4bfce3743a0ecf96a702608d23621c712a/view
  13. Was announced during the season launch that there will be extra analysis this season during the Eurosport ad breaks on Discovery+
  14. I think the special one mentioned that the tractor had broken down during the afternoon or something... I think they had trouble with the tractor last season, but it couldn't have been predicted
  15. Good point, the track had dried out and slickened off by that point, probably more to do with it than any handbags
  16. I assume that this pathetic promotion of tonight's meeting against the current league Champions is down to the tragic death of Nigel Pearson http://www.leicesterspeedway.com/news.php?extend.31896.1 "LEICESTER host reigning champions Poole at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena on Easter Saturday with a 7pm start. Team news is as follows: LEICESTER: Nick Morris, Connor Mountain, Kyle Howarth, Dan Thompson, Richie Worrall, Anders Rowe, Joe Thompson. POOLE: Steve Worrall, Zach Cook, Richard Lawson, Ben Cook, Danny King, Drew Kemp, Nathan Ablitt." It just shows what a huge loss he's going to be to the sport that nobody else involved with the club can come up with any words to promote the meeting on their own website!
  17. The problem yesterday was not the twins, it was the capitulation of the top order
  18. There's just been a lovely tribute to Nigel on Talksport by Ian Danter. https://talksport.com/radio/schedule/ 10:50 am
  19. I was genuinely shocked by the news when I heard it announced on TalkSport last night while travelling back from Scunny. While obviously tragic for his family and friends, it's a pretty dark day for Speedway also. Nigel Pearson had Speedway running through his veins, fan, announcer, presenter, journalist, promoter and most notably commentator and press officer/agent, he'd pretty much done it all on "our side of the fence". He never passed up an opportunity to promote our sport... I was listening to one of his latest projects the other day, the British Speedway podcast and it was coverage of him compering the British Speedway season launch at Belle Vue and he was so positive and I was thinking to myself why are you so bloody positive all the time! But of course that was his job, he knew not everything in the sport was rosy but never really dwelt on it too much. You only have to do a scroll through Twitter to see how highly thought of he was throughout sport in general with some pretty high profile people and organisations expressing their shock and sadness, not so many from the Speedway fraternity I notice, hopefully that'll change when people get to hear this tragic news. The Darts community seem to have been hit pretty hard by it. Obviously most of us on here will remember Nigel for his Speedway commentary, while not everybody's cup of tea, I absolutely loved his commentary style and the "double act" he built with Kelvin Tatum. He was able to inject some enthusiasm and entertainment into even the dullest of races and meetings and let's face it there were a lot of them. He was the modern day "voice of Speedway" with his modern day commentary style and the natural successor to Dave Lanning. For me he'd done the most to promote and elevate our sport in the last 20 years, is irreplaceable and will be deeply missed.
