  1. It was strange, because as a layman the track looked in the best condition it has done all season... just didn't produce any real close Speedway racing (except 10 and 14) with riders generally strung out 20 yards between them
  2. Good effort from our boys... well done Aussie. We can all take a year off next year as it's back to Poland to give them a home victory to keep them interested. It looks as though their fans have finally cottoned on to their "foreign" exploits as in previous years there was always more of a travelling support.
  3. You should see the ASF!! I think there in lies the difference between a "professional" commentator and a co-commentator... the pro would do their research beforehand and have a sheet full of stats to call upon during commentary, not sure if KT does, he may very well do.
  4. In an word No... London may as well be a different country to the rest of us who don't live there, it's a completely different demographic to the rest of the country
  5. It was really quite unremarkable, a bit of a FTGfest with only 2 races of any note
  6. That's why I'm wondering if BSPL clubs have refused to release riders, no manager worth their salt would want to defend a world title without a full compliment of riders especially after what has happened to them before
  7. According to the press release his kit and mechanics will be at Vojens to help/ be used if needed
  8. The way Tai was trapping the other night though he'll be a BIG miss around Vojens
  9. I wonder who has final say on whether Brennan, Flint & Kemp should ride in the SoN or return to the UK to ride for their clubs? Even then, no excuse for Kemp not to be there
  10. Don't they learn from their mistakes... we had no cover a few years back when Lambert and Cook crashed into each other in the first race. If Tai was injured yesterday why aren't Brennan, Kemp, Flint or anybody replacing him?
  11. Good solid rider was Shane, never realised his full potential for me. Interesting that they've given Britain a swerve.
  12. Again at the risk of upsetting "The Grump" ()... Is Fraser Bowes any relation to Shane?
  13. I think it would have been wise of the management to have issued a statement prior to the event of why they weren't there, team building activities etc. As they were very conspicuous by their absence. I've never really heard Woffy say it's just a job to him... I have heard him speak numerous times about how Speedway GB should be run and how he wants it to be a success. It doesn't really bother me whether they were there or not but I do think it's a case of poor management in this media age where everything is always in full view, the fact that they weren't there when most other senior riders were (Pol, Den, Aus) people were always going to ask questions.
  14. A 5th consecutive medal for GB at under 21 level, so while it wasn't a brilliant gold, it certainly isn't bad and "off the pace". I agree with most others on here that Flint should have at least been given 1 ride to see how he was going, he's at a comparable level to Kemp, on paper at least, so what was there to lose? He may have just have nailed the setup and gone through the card... we will never know. The senior team were very conspicuous by their absence, one can only hope they were away plotting a way to victory tonight... and whoever was responsible for the Team GB clothing needs to turn their washing machine down a bit. I thought it was interesting to watch the different ways in which the countries went about their Speedway, the uber serious Poles, Danes and Brits, with all their people and team clothing and serious looks on their faces and then the Czechs... laughing and giggling their way through it, with one particular rider larking about waving at the camera like a crazed loon! And really the Czechs should have won it... was it their "unprofessionalism" that ultimately went on to be their downfall? I wouldn't take too much notice of the results of this competition as an indicator of who goes on to be a great team or rider in the future, the history books tells us that if you're a great U21 rider it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to go on to be a decent senior rider.
  15. It's not been a great day for British Speedway... all the best to Zaine
  16. Bringing it back to Speedway, I think the Polish U24 league has drained a lot of riders that would normally have been riding in the UK... even some of the British riders! I commented that this would happen when the league was announced but nobody really picked up on it
  17. If people want to blame Brexit for the rider shortage how would they explain all of the European riders that are riding in this country with no problems at all? I think the issues may very well be elsewhere, with one country in particular
  18. I'm surprised Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II hasn't disowned the competition! Does she know about this I wonder? If somebody tells her it may just finish her off!
  19. Fair enough about Middlo's testimonial, but really this match should not be going ahead tonight (as an "official" fixture), it makes a complete mockery of the sport and i think, correct me if I'm wrong, sets a new precedent on how many riders is acceptable to make a team
  20. They should make tonight's match the Middlo testimonial it has about a much relevance
  21. The Birmingham team are not riding on the 31st and neither are the Poole team... or there's the Bank Holiday
  22. Or postponed it? What's the rush anyway? We all know the final of the Summer Trophy won't be until the autumn and since when did Poole ride on a Friday? They've been going on for the last few seasons how it had to be Wednesday's... and there'll be no clash with Birmingham being the other Wednesday track as their last match is August the 10th
