Leicester vs Redcar 30/07/22 Summer Jubilee League Trophy
IainB replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was strange, because as a layman the track looked in the best condition it has done all season... just didn't produce any real close Speedway racing (except 10 and 14) with riders generally strung out 20 yards between them -
Good effort from our boys... well done Aussie. We can all take a year off next year as it's back to Poland to give them a home victory to keep them interested. It looks as though their fans have finally cottoned on to their "foreign" exploits as in previous years there was always more of a travelling support.

Do You Think Speedway might do in London in Future??.
IainB replied to speed29's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
In an word No... London may as well be a different country to the rest of us who don't live there, it's a completely different demographic to the rest of the country -
Leicester vs Redcar 30/07/22 Summer Jubilee League Trophy

It was really quite unremarkable, a bit of a FTGfest with only 2 races of any note -
I think it would have been wise of the management to have issued a statement prior to the event of why they weren't there, team building activities etc. As they were very conspicuous by their absence. I've never really heard Woffy say it's just a job to him... I have heard him speak numerous times about how Speedway GB should be run and how he wants it to be a success. It doesn't really bother me whether they were there or not but I do think it's a case of poor management in this media age where everything is always in full view, the fact that they weren't there when most other senior riders were (Pol, Den, Aus) people were always going to ask questions.

A 5th consecutive medal for GB at under 21 level, so while it wasn't a brilliant gold, it certainly isn't bad and "off the pace". I agree with most others on here that Flint should have at least been given 1 ride to see how he was going, he's at a comparable level to Kemp, on paper at least, so what was there to lose? He may have just have nailed the setup and gone through the card... we will never know. The senior team were very conspicuous by their absence, one can only hope they were away plotting a way to victory tonight... and whoever was responsible for the Team GB clothing needs to turn their washing machine down a bit. I thought it was interesting to watch the different ways in which the countries went about their Speedway, the uber serious Poles, Danes and Brits, with all their people and team clothing and serious looks on their faces and then the Czechs... laughing and giggling their way through it, with one particular rider larking about waving at the camera like a crazed loon! And really the Czechs should have won it... was it their "unprofessionalism" that ultimately went on to be their downfall? I wouldn't take too much notice of the results of this competition as an indicator of who goes on to be a great team or rider in the future, the history books tells us that if you're a great U21 rider it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to go on to be a decent senior rider.

Or postponed it? What's the rush anyway? We all know the final of the Summer Trophy won't be until the autumn and since when did Poole ride on a Friday? They've been going on for the last few seasons how it had to be Wednesday's... and there'll be no clash with Birmingham being the other Wednesday track as their last match is August the 10th
