Wednesday 7th September - play off - Poole v Plymouth
IainB replied to TrainDave's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Nothing! BSPL should step in and either give Poole a bye or order a postponement due to understrength team. It maybe in the interests of Poole to run tonight but it's not in the interests of the sport imo -

It's made a mockery of the WHOLE league season for Plymouth! As if it wasn't farcical enough with the Ed Kennett situation. What's the incentive for the fan to turn out week in week out to qualify for a play off... then this? -

about 2 or 3 weeks ago on a Twitter poll about the CL points scoring system

I saw at least 2, wearing Anlas coats at least, unless they brought some free "merch" over with them
-
It did look like there were a few people from Anlas in the pits on Monday night with a lot of scrutiny of tyres going on in between races
-
Will still be a drawn out affair thanks to TV... I'll probably make the trip though, it'll be like the good old days at Cov
-
To be fair I do like and prefer the Live experience... but I must say that the way televised matches draaaaaag on with no regard for the attending spectator doesn't encourage people along

Belle Vue produces consistently the best racing week in week out on possibly the best Speedway race track in the world yet can't get anywhere near filling the place. Not surprising really when they stage their event on a night when most people can't get to it.

I think the Birmingham head said they were getting 300-500

British Final 2022

They'll be in for a shock when they turn up and find out they're out in heat 1! -
If the super heat is to stay I'd like to see the format changed so you can't use the same riders as used in heat 15, makes it more of a team effort
-
Somebody ought to have told the ref!
-
Think he was checking his tyre was still on!
-
I thought there was a maximum allowable time for riders taking 2 on the trot?

PL Football is the only sport big enough to call the shots, knowing that if the TV companies don't like it there are loads of others queuing up to sign a silly money deal. Every other (team) sport bows to TV demands... even football does regards fixtures but that's about the only concession they make

Play offs are OK, IF... the league is big enough and they're completed in a timely manner, neither of which happens in Speedway. This season we have a 6 team top league and 4 play off places, which makes the whole league programme more or less a waste of time especially when you have the top 4 spots pretty much concreted by June! Then in the CL we have clubs who have not qualified seasons over by the end of August and those in the top 2 waiting around for everybody else to complete their fixtures and get their play offs done and a 6 week hole in their season. We seem to have the worst of both worlds

I'd like to see staggered restarts but only after the ref has excluded a rider. It's almost a discussion for a different thread. But I'd like to see riders rerun a race in the positions they were in at the time of the stoppage to disincline riders from committing the "professional foul"

Scunthorpe vs Leicester 02/09/22
IainB replied to False dawn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Seems to happen with most brothers in Speedway, they seem to come as a job lot, probably to do with support resources I would have thought -
"Peterborough Speedway would like to thank supporters for their patience whilst the discussions were ongoing prior to the abandonment. The meeting is declared as a result with ten races having been completed, with Sheffield 32-28 winners, and as a club we will do all we can to help supporters who attended the meeting." ... Still waiting

I went to the semi and final at Peterborough last year and there was no increase in admission price for either
-
But we've entered a "new era"... of poor promotion and low crowds
