  1. I don't know how or why but I think that's just a problem with British society today a general apathy to everything... you only have to look at the news agenda to see that, there's so much to protest about (I'm not going to name specifics as everybody will have their own particular thing that gets their goat). Why the masses are not on the street protesting, like the French, I will never know... we seem to have been beaten down so much in this country that generally it seems pointless in protesting about anything... it's too much trouble, nothing will ever get done, money will out... what's the point... and I include myself in that. Hats off to the Coventry team are like a dog with a bone trying to "save" Coventry Speedway, but, it's been 6 years now and the team are, in reality, no nearer to returning today than they were 6 years ago... and it maybe another 6 and they may be in the same position.
  2. Nope, he was clearly sat in his pit bay on his phone with both bikes in front of him just prior to the heat 14 rerun
  3. I get it... the whole sport is in a mess, seeing any club go out of business through non attendance surely can't be the answer though, not if you really want to see Speedway survive and flourish. We all have our own ideas on what should be done but unfortunately as none of us are club owners there's very little we can do about it short of some kind of fan petition/demonstration
  4. I think there's a third base, and I've just referenced it in my previous post... supporters of the club, which is different to the team, the club, it's history, the volunteer staff that make it all happen, it's just a shame that some of the mercenaries that ride for the club don't share the same passion as some of the clubs followers
  5. I'm not throwing anything at KL fans I'm specifically addressing @Bagpuss and fans like him who clearly bleed green & gold () that at this moment if they don't support their club... not team... there will be no club. I'm currently catching up with last nights meeting, I'm at heat 7, track seems perfectly fine, there's been a couple of good races, the stars are just getting stuffed due to a poor team being put together
  6. I'm specifically addressing those fans that don't attend because their team ain't winning. If every fan took that stance the team finishing bottom of the league every year would close
  7. It's alright to hold this view if you are prepared to kiss goodbye to speedway and not miss it. I would say you shouldn't hold this position if you are planning on attending again once a team starts winning. Speedway changes the rules so often that a club is not in the doldrums for that long and things can change very quickly when the right people are in the right positions on both sides of the fence. You only have to look at clubs that have won things in any league in speedway and then compare that to other sports... the only serial winners in speedway had been Poole
  8. I wonder if this latest crisis is the way the KL promotion are going to announce to the Speedway world that Laguta won't be riding away matches?
  9. What would you spend 22 quid plus petrol on? A winning team and poor racing? A losing team and great racing? You can't just support a team when they're winning and leave everybody else to support them when they're losing to keep that club alive for you to attend when they start winning again... that's just not right for me. As a follower of Leicester & Long Eaton (in the bad old days), I've had my fair share of losing. Normally I'd agree with you but this seems to be pretty existential stuff for Lynn
  10. Just watching last night's BSN show... Looked like Ben Barker was very happy to see Ian Brannan on the track walk... he's going to have somebody's eye out with that thing if he's not careful
  11. Well... looking at the official SCB score card it looks like heat 6 wasn't called an unsatisfactory start as if it was, the rules state: "The Referee will give a warning to any rider deemed to have been the cause of or contributed to the unsatisfactory start. This will be communicated verbally by the Referee to the rider concerned via the start marshal or clerk of course before the race is started." According to the SCB card there were 3 starting offences 2 x Worrall & 1 x NKI. So if it wasn't an unsatisfactory start somebody should have been disqualified for being the primary cause of the stoppage. ... just trying to understand the rules
  12. So if it was an unsatisfactory start, Tarasenko should have been excluded for leaving the track as he returned into the pits, if it wasn't Sedgmen should have gone for being the primary cause of the stoppage
  13. Why don't you want a clock on the centre that everybody can see?
  14. You may make light of it... but it is important and in a way it is part of the biggest weakness with British Speedway and that is integrity. Can you imagine Tennis being played in 2023 without Hawkeye or Cricket without Snicko etc? All very high tech, Speedway? Can't (or won't) afford a bloody clock! When is 2 minutes not 2 minutes? When it's in Speedway. A clock at the start line removes any doubt as to whether a rider is ready to start, whether he's on track, under power, proceeding without stopping etc etc blah blah blah. It's like what is an unsatisfactory start? There should be a line on the track and if an incident happens beyond that line an unsatisfactory start can't be called. These are the lackadaisically written rules that can tie a sport up in knots... look at the mess F1 got itself into last weekend with track limits!
  15. I know what the rules are and I know the difference between SCB and FIM/SGP... I'm saying they should be the same, why aren't they the same? Because not every track will buy a clock? That the Start Marshal can start if the Ref can't? If that's the reason then it's quite frankly ridiculous! Why does British Speedway tie itself up in unnecessary rules that are left open to interpretation? If there had been a clock there last night NKI would have been at the tapes when it counted down to zero... but no, the paying public were deprived of a race containing the oppositions main man on the night because he couldn't see the stop watch on your wrist! Unbelievable!
  16. That does not sound simpler than having a clock on the centre green that everybody can see and when that clock ticks down to zero and a rider is not at the tapes ready to start that rider is excluded, like in the GP's to be honest
  17. The point is, when the ref puts the 2 mins on, he's the only one that can see when the time is up... how does having a stop watch on your wrist help the rider know exactly when the 2 mins are up? Or the crowd for that matter? There's a perfectly simple solution available... but as usual Speedway ties itself up in knots about the minutiae of the current situation instead of putting in place new simple solutions
  18. So that's it then... for all time, for ever! May as well use a bloody egg timer!
  19. it's remote controlled... all it needs is for somebody (start marshal?) to start the countdown when the 2 mins is put on by the ref, this is not rocket science
  20. If only Leicesters budget extended to a clock... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jhering-Timing-Running-Countdown-Digital/dp/B09LHW5P2R/ref=sr_1_117?crid=1ABHH8MZTQQ1V&keywords=large+timer+for+classroom&qid=1688720484&sprefix=large+timer%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-117
  21. No... do it on the centre green at the end of the night in a Crystal Maze style dome with a giant fan blowing the money around and 7 riders grabbing what they can
  22. also less mistakes made on a smoother track with no bumps and holes
  23. The Leicester track seems have taken quite a step backwards this year in my opinion. It's not been the same since the "improvements" over the close season and more often than not this season I have gone home covered in dust!
  24. Sedgy hit the deck coming out of turn 2 lap one, ran out of space. Tarasenko went back into the pits while Sedgy was receiving attention, the other 2 stayed on the track. Then the ref put all 4 back in. Can you declare an unsatisfactory start when riders are coming out of bend 2?
