  1. And going back to No 2... clubs can effectively do this at the moment with a call off on a dodgy forecast, no medical cover, a broken power line, a broken water pipe, a football match on the telly... take your pick and then restage the match after the play off cut off
  2. You just can't do that in modern Speedway, it's not just this season, it's every season and it's getting worse with forecast offs... and now they're planning to increase league fixtures! After the season we've just had! It beggars belief!
  3. Hmm... we'll see if the BSPL get greedy and try and cash in on the success of BSN. They've got some money to make back on the one man and his dog crowd that turned out to watch the "Grand" Final!
  4. In a world where meetings can be abandoned for any number of reasons and easily called off based on inaccurate weather forecasts we can't go on trying to accommodate rearranged fixtures. Clubs should not be allowed to call matches of on a whim, only an official independent body should... we are trying to run a credible sport in a professional manner after all
  5. I can only hope that BSN did nicely out of the CL pay offs... because if the BSPL saw anything out of BSN's no doubt inflated numbers it might make them more prone to pulling off stunts like they did with the 2nd leg in the future... and that must NEVER happen again!
  6. 1) Not really an issue, refund ticket holders, offer transfer to next year or even structure the season ticket in a different way, maybe membership that gets you discounts etc... Cricket must have a similar issue, how do they model their season tickets? 2) 1 point each, only a Referee can call a match off while they are in attendance any call off prior is done by the SCB. 3) Riders and clubs will be more willing to get matches on 4) They run filler fixtures after the League programme to fulfil any obligations, the League must not be held up because of 1 club
  7. I can see why they think twice home and away will extend the league programme beyond mid July/August... but they couldn't complete once home and away and 5 play off ties in one of the driest summer's on record... only in Speedway would they think this is the solution. The ONLY way it is going to work is if they get away from this ridiculous idea that rained off meetings HAVE to be restaged, they don't in Cricket, they shouldn't in Speedway.
  8. "Official confirmation of SCB rulebook issues such as the points limit, league scoring system and play-off structure, and details of other competitions, will follow after the AGM later this month."
  9. I would think investing in British Speedway is a bad investment! But you're right, despite the terrible Poole bias last night, generally they have done an excellent job this season!
  10. Was a shame that Shovlar seemed to have got to the commentators first though and mention that the Cook's had never ridden Lynn before! And boy didn't they let us all know. Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around my eyes, look into my eyes...
  11. I've seen nothing on the BSPL website or socials... somebody said it had been mentioned in the SS but not in what context and by who
  12. OK, I'm checking out now. I've quite enjoyed the, on the whole good natured, banter with you Pesky Pirates... I'll miss all the weather chat but I'm gonna leave the next 100 pages to the Pesky Pirates telling us how they was robbed if they lose it or how it was a mighty victory if they win it. I was going to sign off with let's hope that Speedway is the winner... but it's been a massive loser in this whole sorry shambles!
  13. There used to be a rule back in the day about a minimum team strength, I take it there is no such rule anymore?
  14. AFAIK it still hasn't been mentioned by the BSPL that it has been cancelled, they're just pretending that it never existed. It's so disrespectful to everybody that supported these meetings!
  15. ... And the Ed Kennett situation, the team Birmingham sent to Poole and the closure of Newcastle
  16. Don't forget the British Final, Jubilee Trophy & Prem Pairs rules debacles
  17. I haven't been to Lynn in years... in fact I think the last time was when Leicester were there in 2018 and the meeting was abandoned because Buster didn't have enough medical cover and there was curfew and it finished so late that all the late night road maintenance had started and I had to make a 50 mile detour to get home! I vowed I would never return and have never been since. It used to be a fantastic race track before Buster changed the surface
  18. It doesn't matter how much you try and kid yourself that this is Leicester's "home" track... it is not! It is King's Lynn's home track. There is absolutely no home track advantage at all. The Thompson's were potential match winners at BP as they have mastered the peculiarities of their actual HOME track. King's Lynn is widely regarded as one of the fairest tracks in the world and I've never really heard any riders have a bad word to say about it, despite the racing often being quite dull these days, but they are two different subjects.
  19. And it was handicap racing, last, from the line first, from the handicap last, from the line first, from the handicap last
