  1. What is the point of the British Youth setup? Is it to produce world class riders or is it to produce local talent to sustain league Speedway? Or is it a vehicle for well meaning individuals to be involved in the sport in some way? This year more than any I can remember has seen the young talent in British Speedway being sh@t on with the Thompson's bearing the brunt of it with their transfer merry go round (and it's only June!). We see increasing amounts of our youngsters now "concentrating" on the Polish U24 league... this is no good for the sustainability of British Speedway. I've just had a look at the riders who appeared in a BU19 Championship between 2011-2020 and are no longer riding because of the lack of opportunities for British youngsters. This list isn't very scientific and my knowledge of the lower leagues isn't great so some of these may actually still be riding but they were named in the BU19 line-ups during this period, had all the kit and must have had some ability and interest in a career in British Speedway: Danny Phillips, Tom Stokes, Dan Greenwood, Joe Jacobs, Oliver Greenwood, Darryl Ritchings, James Sarjeant, Michael Neale, Liam Carr, Conor Dwyer, Ashley Morris, Tom Perry, Nathan Greaves, Adam Kirby, Josh Bates, Ryan Terry-Daley, Daniel Spiller, Sean Phillips, Scooter Webster, Layne Cupitt, Jack Kingston, Adam Portwood, Luke Harris, Danno Verge, Tyler Govier, Kelsey Dugard, Luke Ruddick, Josh Bailey, David Morgan, Ben Basford, Keiran Douglas, Ellis Perks, Alex Wilson, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, Lewis Miller, Luke McKenna, Stephen Whitehouse, Taylor Hampshire, Ryan Kinsley, Jamie Halder, Luke Harris, Connor Locke, Callum Walker, Ben Woodhull, Joe Lawlor, Zach Wajtknecht, William O'Keefe, Matt Marson, Charlie Brooks, Kyle Bickley, Alex Spooner, Charlie Brooks, Elliot Kelly, Sheldon Davies, Corban Pavitt, Kean Dicken, Archie Freeman, Oliver Rayson, Brendan Johnson, Richard Franklin, Richard Andrews, Shane Hazelden, Jake Knight, Marc Owen. British Speedway would be in a far healthier position if this talent had not just been abandoned after they'd hit the age of 19 or 21
  2. What a match! First time I've been to Sheffield in about 10 years and to be honest I was expecting a bit of a dull affair as it's not the track it used to be... Wrong! Lions were electric from the gate with the only real opposition coming from Jack Holder and Musielak who was always dangerous when behind if a little wild at times. One thing I can't understand... Bomber was clearly the slowest rider out there, riding slower than a slow thing yet unbelievably he was passing people and then managing to stay in front... when he wasn't clipping the fence and falling off, it was quite amazing to watch. Track probably just needed a tiny bit more water on it and it would have been perfect and I wouldn't have come home with a Tiger tan! Any advice on parking as it was the usual bore getting out of the car park... which I didn't mind so much in the past but now I'm paying £3 for that privilige it's not so much fun, even after an away win
  3. yes... looking at the Met Office radar and the rain that is about looks to be fizzling out and hopefully heading south of Sheffield
  4. weather might win this one by the look of the rainfall radar!
  5. Great win for the Lions 'B'... at the risk of being a keyboard warrior, it's hard to imagine your previous manager making those team changes and also pulling Bowtell from his 2nd ride for a tac sub... play offs here we come
  6. What's the big 'B' on the race jackets... Leicester Lions 'B' team?
  7. Let's hope he brings a friend along Has Troy Batchelor been riding at all this season?
  8. Yes Christina But he did have 5 minutes to change his bike setup and then went out and won it FTG
  9. They had completed 2 full laps... the reds didn't come on until bend 2 of lap 2... are you Christina in disguise Plus... there was no way Artem was going to catch and pass our boys, especially with the way the track was in heat 1
  10. Doesn't really matter whether he did or not really, ref should have awarded it
  11. I don't know that he threw it down and deliberately stayed down... but the ref should definitely awarded it
  12. Right... just read so many negative comments on here tonight for what was a perfectly good speedway meeting, with some good racing once the track settled, some questionable refereeing decisions and very nearly another super heat. Eurosport is what it has always been... it ain't never gong to change and the sooner people realise this the better for all of us that have to read the same old crap on every televised thread. Apologies to @arnieg
  13. Great win for the Lions! A really good comeback from Christina and the boys though full credit to them
  14. Ah, the caption on the screen said it was IRR... is it not allowed after a certain heat?
  15. I must say i don't think I've ever read so much crap on one thread... and I've seen the Peterborough 2023 thread!
  16. Some decent racing now the track has dried out a little. TJ working hard for his points
