Sheffield v Peterborough Monday 3rd July
IainB replied to 4BenMoran's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You've not seen the guy at Oxford with his leaf blower then? I remember when the budget used to extend to bags of sawdust being thrown around to soak up the water. Sadly zero effort went into getting this meeting to continue which is what we've come to expect these days -
... and also their only opportunity to see F1 in this country this year. I love my F1 but I've only been to Silverstone a couple of times, for the experience. Personally I think that F1 is a sport better watched on TV

And if they do... I doubt there'll be a single (real) fan that says I'm not going to that because it's not BSPL

It was very different times and well before my time... but wasn't Speedway in the UK on it's arse before back in the late 50's early 60's after a period of huge post war crowds? Weren't they down to about 10 or 12 clubs and some Lord carried out a report into the problems and the whole sport was reset and restructured and this led to the boom of the 70's. Now all of that could be completely wrong, others on here will know exactly what happened, I'm just piecing together bits I've remembered from reading the SS from years ago that I wasn't really that interested in, but I do believe there has been some kind of reset before, but like I said very different times

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024
IainB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It is a lighthearted comedy show though, they never talk seriously about anything other than Football or Cricket... so unless you want Speedway mentioned in the comedy slot, you're never going to hear about it on that show unless Tai is in plugging the British GP. Didn't talkSport(2) used to have a motorsport show hosted by Andy Jaye (the guy that used to present the SGP on Eurosport) and Scott Nicholls on for a short run? -
I believe he lives in/near Long Eaton

How would we ever have managed.
IainB replied to Cast1rn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I went to Ully's farewell today... 4 full teams, no guests, no R/R and all on a Sunday afternoon... it's the future (and the past ) -
How would we ever have managed.

Easy... Get your money back at the end of the season or roll it over to the next season -
How would we ever have managed.
IainB replied to Cast1rn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Easy... you award 1 point each and move onto the next fixture -
Surprised anybody hung about... I was in the car park before I could hear them being announced over the PA. Why they don't come straight round after the final like in the GP's I will never understand
-
CotC should have grown a pair then and grabbed them back!
-
Terrible wasn't it, just when things should be building up to a big exciting climax... bring the tractors out to kill it all dead!
-
Holder had a superb race in heat 13! The Worrall's had a good scrap in 17 and then there was Fricke vs Sheffield in 21... other than that it was pretty turgid stuff
-
No... it was Cook, with Worrall
-
I think it must have been a Just Stop Racing protestor driving the tractor!
-
Should have gone to Kwik-Fit
-
They're changing tyres
-
Only heat 23... everyone over to Lynn
-
It'll be fun reading the Peterborough thread to see them take the negative out of this performance
-
Track just not wet enough to produce enough grip... although heat 21 was a bit good!
-
Tonight's event has been badly let down by the track prep (and the non appearances) it was obvious after the first few races that there wasn't enough moisture in the track and nobody did anything about it until it was far too late. They've just spent about a quarter of an hour on it only for it to be exactly the same as it was before after 4 laps of "racing", it's been a theme here for most of the year.

Do you wanna do a swapsy for Bomber?
