  1. I can't completely agree or disagree with you either as I'm not technically minded at all when it comes to machinery, we can agree that today's 500cc machines are too powerful though. Not so sure about the size of the rider though, Mikkel Andersen was bigger than his dad! Take your point though... I know I've seen the last 2 SGP3 meetings, last years was the best speedway racing olIb think I've ever seen anywhere, and the performance of the bikes was a lot closer to those of the 70's & 80's where they appeared to be operating at max performance for the size of the track, you get the feeling that today's machines would be more suited to the long tracks.
  2. If he's suspended from British Speedway only at the moment, what would happen if he's found to be guilty of whatever charge is being made against him, would any ban imposed be worldwide or just for the UK?
  3. Have you seen the 250cc racing? I truly believe this is the way the sport in the UK should be heading. The bikes look a hell of a lot more rideable, watching the kids ride them yesterday they were having no bother at all, imagine what the experienced riders could do on them and they're not that much slower than the 500's
  4. Rumour has also said that Laguta was going to Leicester and Hans Andersen had left Peterborough
  5. I wonder what the haters will have to say about this? @chrismorton I may end my KL ban for KL's next home match
  6. It's a statement isn't it, it's saying look we're big time, don't look at the events we hold in forests in the middle of nowhere, this is big event, big stadium stuff, get the fans into this and they may be more inclined to travel to the arse end of Germany to have a look at what's going on there... it's basic marketing stuff
  7. Major event? Held on a Friday afternoon in a forest somewhere in Sweden... in front of a meagre crowd? I agree it's good move to have this meeting broadcast but let's not kid ourselves it's a major event. I don't quite get how WBD seem to be promoting SGP3/4 as feeder events, do they really think that riding in one meeting 1 or 2 meetings a year will get you into SGP?
  8. I don't know the ins and outs of the bidding process but I assume that any other parties IMG and or One Sport were simply out bid by the might of WBD on their spending spree to pick up sports to fill air time (when they choose to) on their new TNT Sports channels.
  9. You mean something like this? http://www.birmingham-speedway.com/news.php?extend.3330
  10. It was a very strange reaction from Andersen wasn't it, one moment he was doing wheelies then he looked suicidal then he was smiling spraying the champagne then he looked suicidal again... I think a lot of it was an act on how he thought he should have been seen to react We mustn't forget these are children, i found some of it quite uncomfortable viewing especially the crash between Pedersen and Miller, do we really need to see these kids in tears with TV cameras thrust into their faces? It's borderline child exploitation... just show me the racing

  12. It wasn't on the captions at the end of SGP3... but then Tatum said please try and catch up with SGP4 on Saturday morning! Not quite sure how he expects us to do that? How long have WBD got the Speedway contract for? The sooner they're out of our sport the better!
  13. The more I see of the 250cc engines the more i think 500cc engines are not the future for Speedway. Quite why WBD decided to hold this on a Friday afternoon I'm not quite sure? Also a shame they couldn't be arsed to change the captions as I wasn't quite sure if there was going to be 2 semis and a final like the captions said or 20 heats as the commentators said, also wasn't sure if it was a one off meeting as the caption said it was SGP3 Round 1. Is SGP4 being shown tomorrow?
  14. Never mind all that... does anybody know what @chrismorton was doing last night? I've checked Speedway updates and it's not mentioned anywhere
  15. It's funny isn't it that a rider has to provide a medical certificate when missing a match through illness/injury but, as far as I know, don't have to produce one when returning from injury
  16. Totally agree what you're saying... but there's a comparison to be drawn there with riders riding injured, the most recent example being Erik Riss riding with blurred vision and "brain fog". There's the mandatory concussion rule but riders have ridden down the years with broken legs and collar bones etc. which must impair their ability on a bike
  17. I know... but why no facility allowed but as soon as the rider is officially suspended there is, the paying punter gets short changed... again!
  18. I'm pretty sure visually impaired athletes also have to abide by a banned substance list, probably provided in Braille... but I take your point
  19. Didn't Michael Lee have to pay an outstanding fine when he wanted to return to Poole back in the late 80's or early 90's?
  20. Full marks to the Ipswich promotion in carrying out the remedial work to the track to get the meeting restarted again, and it looked as though the racing actually improved after the work for those riders that wanted to mix it. Listening to Adam Roynon on the BSN stream it's easy to see how some riders can talk themselves out of wanting to continue, he was doing this even from the commentary box and then when the racing restarted Keynan Rew immediately raced his way past Brady Kurtz. I hope the Sheffield promotion were watching last night on what to do after a rain shower and not just pull the plug and go home!
  21. They mentioned during commentary during one of the GP's this season that they're used in the GP's don't know about elsewhere though
