Time to sack Phil Morris?
IainB replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm not sure he should be sacked... but if I were him I would seriously consider resigning as trying to run British Speedway is like trying to herd a bunch of cats! 😹 -
Ipswich vs Leicester play off Semi-final 9th Sept
IainB replied to ShanoXtra's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My thoughts are... Sheffield are currently top and should be playing 4th place Ipswich in the pay off semi-finals 😕- 966 replies

Kings Lynn v Sheffield 29/8/24
IainB replied to Manifesto's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When is an interval not an interval, when it's at King's Lynn 😁, the rules (yes, those silly old things) state: "Except when the Referee considers that there are valid reasons for delaying the start of an ensuing heat, the interval between the finish of one heat and the start of the next shall not exceed 4 minutes including the 2 minute allowance." -
Interesting... Quite a positive reaction for a rider whose average has dropped by a point this season and 2 points from his last stint on our shores! I've quite often had a pretty negative opinion of a rider that calls himself "Magic" while his performances on the world stage have often fitted into the Tragic category! Negative opinion mainly because his performances on the track have not lived up to his immense talent on a Speedway bike and that really annoys me, he's a bit Bewley like in that respect, you see him at his best and you think nobody will beat him ever again and then just goes missing for periods of time. I've got to say that my mind has been turned this season, after the initial disappointment of him not being the world class number one that, I think, most people, including the Oxford promotion, expected to see, I really expected to see him binned off as Oxford chased for honours... didn't happen though and I for one am glad it didn't. There was no pishing the fans and club about from him like some of the other foreign imports, he just stuck at it, kept turning up, riding his Speedway, putting in the effort and gradually got better as the year went on. Every time I saw him, there was 100% effort in all of his races, none of this quitting after a couple of laps and trundling around at the back or pulling off onto the centre... and that's all you can ask for as a fan. He is on a tempting average for next season, lowish considering his late season purple patch and who knows he may revert to type next season... but I'd have him back, first name on the team sheet if I were a Spires fan, a class act!

Kings Lynn v Sheffield 29/8/24
IainB replied to Manifesto's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I know Buster is a law into himself but last night, no 2 mins clock on the centre green... transponders? But a clear beach of the rules, no interval to be held in a 15 heat match before heat 10, interval was after heat 9... who cares for the rules though? Good win for Lynn -

Sheffield vs Ipswich 2024 Cup Final Sept 2nd

Have you not heard... we've abandoned the rules for this season! -
Question for Spires fans: Would you have Magic back next season, has he been a success?

Oxford vs Leicester 29/08/2024 PL R2
IainB replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
To be fair, apart from the incitement of the crowd, he was pretty good. He probably needs to be made aware that even though he's the presenter, there are still rules to abide by. As for the Speedway, another enjoyable trip to Cowley, although the victory did seem a little hollow as it appeared that even though the riders were trying to win, the management obviously were not. -

For some reason he's the Presenter this evening, after Kileen locked up and fell causing Craig Cook to also come off there was a murmur in the crowd when Killeen was excluded... Blair comes on the mic asking the crowd if they think the ref has got the decision right, to roars, then asks if they think the ref should view a replay, again to roars, the ref then views a replay, decision unchanged. It's not the presenters job to incite the crowd, as the rules state.... I consider that the riders job, but they're too busy disappearing back to the pits as soon as every race is over. -

Rules seem to have gone out of the window this season! It truly is just a circus now. 02.2.1 Announcer / Presenter To provide spectators in a strictly impartial manner with information, including Referee’s racing decisions, instructions or statements, required to understand and enjoy a Meeting. Under no circumstances should they make comment that incites any section of the crowd, or on any matter that is sub-judice or gives the impression a protest has been/is being made against a Referees decision. They are responsible for the comments of anyone being interviewed who does not hold an SCB Licence or Registration. -

Will Tungate's points be expunged from the records after the event? -
He's certainly been our rider of the year imo

Hands off!

The statement from the SCB relates to Kurtz's further shenanigans after his initial offences were committed (end of May/ early June), the ones I provided you the dates and venues for after you called me a troll. The SCB statement also makes no mention of FIM events, it does say "if Mr Kurtz competes in any other events " As you seem to be living in your own reality, some time in the 1970's, I'm going to draw a line under it now as far as you're concerned. Enjoy your Speedway

Never once cast doubt on Brady's injuries. Not interested in what happened in a different century, I'm interested in the application of the rules in 2024. I'm questioning why Kurtz, Tungate & Lampart have not been suspended
-
Do the rules make exception for FIM meetings?
-
As far as the rules are concerned, it is the same, there is no distinction between riding for a team or individually. Covatti didn't ride in a foreign league match, it was an open meeting, the Totalizator ZZ MO Krsko Open meeting in Slovenia for which he received a 28 day suspension. Didn't comment on Brady's injuries from Monday... just wanted to know why he wasn't riding in the evening when he was in the morning, not too much to ask I don't think.
-
It's got nothing to do with Kurtz being a Belle Vue rider. The exact same offence has been committed by numerous riders this season and the same sanction has not been meted out to the riders. Covatti, Musielak, Basso & Pawlicki receive 28 day suspensions Meanwhile Kurtz, Tungate & Lampart have received no suspension... yet in the case of the last 2 I may have missed some riders is been so prevalent this season. And then there's the Doyle & Tungate "travel issues" debacle. There's just no consistency
-
Totally agree, unfortunately there is no nuance in the rules, so there should be a 28 day suspension like for all of the other riders... except for Kurtz & Tungate (so far) of course. Having said that, this one does seem to be slightly different as there is specific mention of "the seven day illness rule". So he's been signed off under that rule meaning he can't ride for his British club but can turn out for his other clubs... it seems that a bit of rule manipulation has gone on here... you just couldn't make this stuff up! Mr Morris is being very quiet with regards to all these shenanigans after a bright start it looks like it's going to be very much the same old...
