  1. First of all well done to both sets of riders for putting on a good show in difficult conditions. Regarding Robert Lambert the man is obviously very talented , one only has to have seen his great pass on the outside of Hansen on bend 3/4 in 5 to realise this. Some of the negative comments from Workington fans about Lambert are petty and un called for (i agree its all about personal opinion though), yes his gating is not very good at times but the guy certainly has talent in abundance and his performaces on the whole cannot be gauged against two meetings at Derwent Park. EL average 8.00 PL average 9.19 (Speedway Star) On another point i did see Kenneth Hansen go over the white line in heat 3 but not on the heat he was excluded for but then again i had moved in to the back straight by then! The times for the heats were getting progressively slower as the rain kept falling throughout the meeting but this only added to the entertainment which just shows that speed is not the be all and end all when it comes to a good Speedway race. Looking at the League table this morning the top five look pretty well secure to qualify for the play offs, which leaves Berwick Newcastle and Workington to fight it out for the last place.......my bet is for Newcastle to grab it !!
  2. Weather forecast is good for Saturday, think it will be close Newcastle looking strong for the last few months of the season must be one of the strong contenders for the League.
  3. Agree, can only see the Poles winning tonight, Fricke lucky not to be excluded he seemed to be freewheeling in to the corner.
  4. US teams choice about the team but it does not seem right to me, would rather see the Germans there now.
  5. The Comets take on the Panthers on a rare Sunday evening meeting and with the play off date now being extended Workington should be able to complete all their outstanding fixtures....hopefully no more rain offs!
  6. Hopefully Worky can keep the score line respectable
  7. I think it will be Woffinden, Cook, King and Lambert.
  8. Four of us travelled down on Thursday and had a stopover in Walsall in the Vilage Hotel, after breakfast had a leisurely drive in to Cardiff and checked in to our hotel . Went for lunch then went to the practice at the stadium for half an hour. Back to the hotel to freshen up then out for a meal and drinks with ten other people. Saturday morning pleasant walk in the Park then on to the Fanzone (not that impressed really ?), back to the Stadium for a Pit walk then time for lunch and a couple of pints! Into the Stadium at about 16:30 hrs, great action and presentation, left the stadium about 20:20 hrs to go for a couple of pints.....said i would never go back in Walkabout but ended up back there but i did refuse to pay to get in!! Up early Sunday morning for breakfast had headed back north at 10:00hrs. Great weekend but expensive, will i be back next year.....undecided at the moment.
  9. Can only see home win but Scunny have some decent racers who could cause some problems. Hope our reserves can get a good pay day , some tough meetings ahead with Newcastle and Peterborough.
  10. Plymouth select team kept the scores quite close until heat 11 then the Comets eased away for a comfortable win, not too many notable races but heat 11 was the stand out one with Vissing, Roynon and Barker having a great scrap with Roynon just edging out Barker on the line but it was very close!! A very accomplished 15pt max for Ricky Wells who was backed up well by Vissing, Hansen and a rejuvenated Adam Roynon.
  11. If you are going to referee a meeting badly at least be consistent!!
  12. Well done to Somerset , the better team won on the night, not a good start by the Comets, 2-4, 2-4 then 1-5! Not helped by two engine failures in heat 3. Yes bit of a stop start season regarding fixtures which is not very good for fans or riders, seems to be the way with a lot of teams though? Not helped by a few rain offs too. Not sure if the late organisation of a pairs meeting will attract many casual fans though? Still better than no Speedway at all thougth.
  13. Paid for BT sport recently....may stop sky sports next year its all getting a bit much and GPs usually much better than EL.
  14. Which team could make the change....
  15. Finally bit the bullet and got bt sport Paid far too much hey but im a Speedway punter and im used to getting ripped off.
  16. Apologies but going over old ground again.... Personally speaking, no long drawn out meetings, no TR rule, stop ripping the fans off with rained off meetings and keeping the entrance money!!!! Better presentation. Already this season we have the Belle Vue saga, the WSL postponement, Redcar v Workington cancellation......just to name a few. I have virtually given up on away meetings now.
  17. I do not know if this has been posted before on the forum but a prediction for the winners of the GP, SWC, EL and PL. Apologies to the National League in advance..... GP. A tough one but out on a limb, Peter Kildemand. SWC. Denmark but quite open this year i believe. EL. Poole. PL. Peterborough.
  18. I agree with SCB but i still get downhearted (?) with the politics of the sport and the way some promoters treat the fans, i know quite a few people who do not attend anymore because of this....and some promoters are still confused why people are staying away. Some people will only put up with so much. The GPs and the SWC usually are very good and professional (Joker aside) and a good League match can also be very entertaining if two teams are evenly matched and given a decent track to race on.
  19. Some of the Moaners posts are hilarious, just imagine if they had beat Glasgow.......
  20. Just scrap the chuffing TR rule for every competition.
