  1. Usually enjoy the Star but think they wasted to much time and expense on this trash.
  2. After last weeks home defeat by Ipswich Workington will want to get back to winning ways against their old rivals the Berwick Bandits. The Comets should be at full strength apart from having to use a guest reserve in place of Rob Shuttleworth. Let's hope for an entertaining meeting to help bring some of the feel good factor back to Derwent Park.
  3. Has Speedway had a worse year....well we still have plenty more meetings to get through!! Annus horribilis Annus horribilis is a Latin phrase, meaning “horrible year”. It is complementary to annus mirabilis, which means “wonderful year”; however, annus mirabilis is a traditional term, while annus horribilis is of recent coinage.
  4. Adam Roynon meeting now postponed until 2018.
  5. Latest weather forecast is for showers this moring and this afternoon but due to clear by 5 or 6 pm.
  6. Crazy situation when riders not able to ride on their own bikes, they may have their own engines but still not right.
  7. Too true its like a funeral at Some Speedway meetings.
  8. Agree about the view from most parts of the stadium as for the chips and hostile fans....probably the chips are more hostile , the fans having a few too many beers or just silly boys.
  9. Ouch that's not many for a GP....smallest yet or maybe the New Zealand GP of a few years ago.
  10. Agree goes some way in the answer to riders saying they cannot afford to ride in just one league.
  11. Well that was a LONG meeting, over two and a half hours for 15 heats of Speedway, some delays were obviously un avoidable but still far to long for a meeting. (Probably not as long as the match at Glasgow though!) Delays included. Blue Light fault in Heat 1 Crash in Heat 2. Tapes fault Paramedic attending to a rider Re starts Riders missing two minute warnings Rider getting warned then excluded in the same heat Sun break. Apologies if I have missed any.....back to the meeting, looking at the Redcar line up in the programme I thought they would take all the points last night but the Comets hung in and grabbed a much needed win to boost the confidence in the camp. Cook was superb only being beaten in ht 15 by Barker, team riding superbly in heats 10 and 13 to grab 5-1s on both occasions, oh and a super fast track record in heat 1! All the team rode well and chipped in with some good points, especially pleasing to see Matt Williamson getting some much needed points on the board. Hopefully James Sarjeant can cure his starting problem because its losing points money for him and the Comets. On another note the crowd numbers were very low tonight, maybe just peak holiday time, but worrying all the same.
  12. Redcar have a solid side and two decent reserves... another tough night on the way ....45-45!!
  13. Not sure yet if Craig Cook is riding, will also need a NL guest at reserve , hope we can re group and get a win after last weeks home defeat against Scunthorpe. Workington Comets v Redcar Bears 12/08/2017 7:00pm Championship. Things in the Speedway world on a bit of a downer at the moment.....Speedway when its good can be one of the best sporting occasions to attend...but can also be just as likely to shoot its self in the foot on too many occasions too. Lets hope we have an exciting meeting like the one recently against Glasgow.
  14. Seems to be a new craze in warnings and re starts . Spoiling meetings.
  15. Yep big score from Tero at reserve, probably gave them the edge , Tero loves it around Worky!
  16. Better team won on the night....obvious statement I know !!
  17. After last Saturday nights thrilling win over Glasgow Workington will be looking for a more comfortable victory over Scunthorpe if possible. Workington should be at full strength but there may be a doubt over James Sarjeant?
