Can see your thinking but meetings cost money to promote/run and whilst riders will gladly turn up for this event I am sure they will need some costs to be met , plus this field of riders looks like being one of the best so far in the history of the event. The UK is going through a cost of living crisis and while there is not much difference between £20 and £23 the effect over a few thousand people is massive and will go a long way in helping riders now and in the future.

“I decided I did not want to do the Championship in the UK in 2024 as the travelling is too much between here and Poland every weekend, but I did want to do the Premiership still. I guess because of my illness last year I underperformed so no one made an offer or wanted to take a chance but I am willing and able to come back if needed. So with the quality in the line-up for the Ben Fund meeting I can hopefully remind a few promotors what a fully fit Erik Riss is capable of.

A lot down to costs , cost money to run a meeting like this. I can accept not everyone can afford to attend meetings at this price in tough economic times .

Will Worky sign a rider on maybe a 4.5-5.0 average on a possible short term deal and then maybe make team changes if necessary .

Slightly off topic , I started watching at Workington in the late 70,s but struggle to remember too much , apart from the smell, the speed, walking round to the wee pie hut for pie and oxo. The sparse crowds of three to four hundred, the battering at home , happy days Worky riders , the great Brian Havelock, Rob Maxfield, Andy Margarson, Mark Dickinson etc.
