  3. Can see your thinking but meetings cost money to promote/run and whilst riders will gladly turn up for this event I am sure they will need some costs to be met , plus this field of riders looks like being one of the best so far in the history of the event. The UK is going through a cost of living crisis and while there is not much difference between £20 and £23 the effect over a few thousand people is massive and will go a long way in helping riders now and in the future.
  4. In talks with a rider for the past two weeks to check the feasibility of a deal. Speedway Star.
  5. Three more riders confirmed, Simon Lambert, Sam Masters and Justin Sedgmen.
  6. That might be the reason , another. Aussie ?
  7. “I decided I did not want to do the Championship in the UK in 2024 as the travelling is too much between here and Poland every weekend, but I did want to do the Premiership still. I guess because of my illness last year I underperformed so no one made an offer or wanted to take a chance but I am willing and able to come back if needed. So with the quality in the line-up for the Ben Fund meeting I can hopefully remind a few promotors what a fully fit Erik Riss is capable of.
  8. In his latest interview Riss says he is not racing in the Championship this year.
  9. Workington Comets have a stand at the Classic Dirt bike show.
  10. A lot down to costs , cost money to run a meeting like this. I can accept not everyone can afford to attend meetings at this price in tough economic times .
  11. I assume from that you are not happy? GP riders in the field , a good cause to help injured riders now and in the future.
  12. Admission : ADULTS: £23 CONCESSION: £20 STUDENTS (Age 16-18) £10 KIDS (Age 8-16): £6 Under 8s: FREE
  13. Will Worky sign a rider on maybe a 4.5-5.0 average on a possible short term deal and then maybe make team changes if necessary .
  14. The Championship points limit will increase by 0.5 each month from May 1, taking the limit up to 40 – ie. May 1, 38.50; June 1, 39.00; July 1, 39.50; August 1, 40.00.
  15. John Walsh interview with Dan Bewley , Cumbria Crack. LISTEN: West Cumbrian speedway star Dan Bewley talks about his career and upcoming season - cumbriacrack.com
  16. I think at this stage if Claus Vissing was available and within the budget he would have been signed , so cannot see why we would break the bank to sign him now.
  17. Slightly off topic , I started watching at Workington in the late 70,s but struggle to remember too much , apart from the smell, the speed, walking round to the wee pie hut for pie and oxo. The sparse crowds of three to four hundred, the battering at home , happy days Worky riders , the great Brian Havelock, Rob Maxfield, Andy Margarson, Mark Dickinson etc.
