  1. Yes we had a war cry after the defeat, i too remember the home defeats at Workington in the 70s/80s week after week but kept going unlike some fickle Speedway fans today.
  2. Tough one tonight if it goes ahead, weather clear and warm at the moment but the forecast is for heavy rain all day and night.
  3. The ref made it very clear in a interview in the Speedway Star this week......not that he needed to! Strange, fans want rules to be clear ....then moan when it does not go their way?
  4. My post from the Birmingham thread: Sad to hear of Birminghams demise, really feel for the Brummies fans ...it seems incredible that a major city cannot support Speedway, about three years ago i visited the stadium for the first time to see a Cradley meeting and the crowd was bigger tha most PL/EL teams can muster!! I usually feel quite optimistic about the future of Speedway in this country but with Birmingham closing and the future of Eastbourne looking very doubtful for next year things do not look good. With many clubs struggling to encourage fans to attend it seems that only Poole and Lakeside are maintaining good attendances, im sure someone will put me right if im wrong. Things fans are not happy with include double uppers/downers (many teams missing riders virtually every week) no continuity with fixtures (maybe we need to have fortnightly matches instead of every week?), long drawn out meetings, i know crashes cannot be accounted for but sometimes this is no excuse for matches taking nearly three hours for 15 hts of Speedway..... Also many promoters taking supporters for a ride with rained off meetings and no monies being paid back......not really legal...oh and the dreaded Joker/double point rule....get rid of it!
  5. Good to see a post from Halifax tiger , expected that score from Edinburgh last night probably not many Comets fans travelled up North..... The Monarchs looking strong favourites for the League......but things can change in the play offs!!
  6. Well done Glasgow, im sure Paulco had a few to celebrate.
  7. Not sure if Simon Lambert is riding, crashed in ht 14 at Redcar after a superb display, well done Simon. Might be one or two Comets fans going......
  8. Well done Worky all the lads give it their all tonight and were bitterly dissapointed to lose, great support from the Comets fans, get well soon Luke Crang who crashed in ht one and left Worky with only five riders. Good win however for the Bears, must be a good feeling for their fans having been so far behind to come back and win.

Sorry for ....no im not!!
  10. Jim Mcgregor was the referee at Workington last night and he warned and excluded riders for delaying the dtart, although he did make one decision that i did disagree with!
  11. Well done Peterborough who consistently outgated the Comets last night with some especially good displays from Barret and Blackbird. The only controversial deciscion was when Campton was excluded for unfair riding when the Panthers rider Joe Jacobs crashed, from where i stood it looked like Campton was in front and Jacobs went for a gap that was not there.....but the ref calledit the other way.. Hope the Comets can bounce back on Thursday and bring some points back from Redcar.
  12. The ref made the right call. I think Phil was making a point about the scoring system in the final not the whole meet.
  13. Didnt go this year but watched it on the tv and enjoyed it even if the racing was not that good but as someone pointed out in another post its not all about passing! The crowd seemed to be up on previous years but it can be decieving watching on the tv, the whole show did look good though. A big well done to Greg for winning the GP, how the guy can still be so enthusiastic and competitive at his age is a tribute to him. May have to go back next year............. Stockholm for me in September
  14. Good luck to the Comets this weekend at Somerset and Rye House, hope the weather is kind!! Safe journey to the travelling Worky fans.
  15. First it was Birmingham tonight its Coventrys turn to put out a virtual PL side.
  16. I know a few from Worky who just read the forum and do not post, usually have a good laugh at the cr*p posted.
  17. Speedway news on Border TV tonight, news of Berwicks draw at Sheffield with clip of racing and interview with Ian Rae, Workington take on Plymouth on Saturday with a clip from last year and one from two years ago!!
  18. Enjoyed it , good camera work and production, think he will regret having the tattoos later in life but its his choice.
  19. Wow what a meeting...the Comets were staring at a big defeat and going into the last few heats 8pts down things were looking dire but what a comeback!! A big well done to all the Comets and guests, who would have thought Lambo and Jorgensen would get two 5-1s in the last few heats and then a massive 5-1 in heat 15 from Josh and Rene. I did think Rene would be out of the match when he had a big crash but he got back on the bike after some medical attention and gave it a go....then fell again in ht 13!! when trying for 2nd place. Ipswich were good value in the first two thirds of the match but fell away in the last few heats when they should really have put the meeting to bed but full credit to Worky for a great fighting display.
