  1. Sorry Steve i was not there last night only going off updates..... I lied i was there the riders flew passed Rene on the second bend, as i said could have been very nasty, ref at fault!!
  2. Surprised no one has mentioned heat 9 when Rene Bach fell and the race continued .......Rene and bike marooned on the second bend as three riders sped passed him!! Could have been very nasty , may be the ref should be fined?
  3. The Comets take on the Diamonds in this rearranged meet after last Saturdays rain off, weather forecast looks good for tomorrow. Hopefully all the Comets riders will come back from Plymouth tonight unscathed and get a vital home win..... are the Play offs a bridge to far now...
  4. Reading the Richie Worrall interview in this weeks Speedway Star he has revealed he is on the verge of packing in Speedway saying he needs more time on track and needs to double up and it was strange that he did not get the place at Belle Vue (his parent club) that Josh Grajczonek got. So what does the future hold, some riders cannot make it pay without doubling up but Speedway cannot pay the riders wages with crowd levels diminishing. Some of the foreign riders in the PL are riding in the Danish, Polish or Swedish Leagues so have multiple incomes, but there are not that many British riders riding on the continent, this includes EL riders. Harris, Nicholls and Lambert are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head, not forgetting Woffinden who does not ride in the British Leagues. Worralls final comment in the Star "Speedway still is a massive passion but i have to sit down at some point and ask how long do i keep going at this with no reward"
  5. A few home truths from the Rob Godfrey interview in last weeks SS ...... "Maybe its things like too many guests, r/r all the time, rule changes, stuff like that" "as promoters we all need to wake up and smell the coffee because that coffee is going stale" "The product has got more expensive to put on and the revenues from it are just depleting away" The guy is working very hard to make Scunthorpe Speedway viable but is not getting the numbers through the gates....best of luck to the man but does not look good!
  6. I expect there are quite a few other clubs in a similar situation as Scunthorpe and are losing money year on year, unfortunatley well attended meetings such as Play offs , Cardiff GP,s SWC and the British final do not make up for the losses in the bread and butter meetings in the league. Radical changes should have been made years ago to reduce costs, if that means losing big name riders then so be it, fans just want good racing on a well prepared track with the minimum of delays.
  7. Change the points limit and tweak a few rules that should do it.
  8. Agree Halifaxtiger, some people just like a good moan! Cardiff is what it is some good races some ok, its no Torun but Torun is not Cardiff! Welll done NKI a very good racerand looks like a nice chap too.
  9. Should be ok if arriving at 18:45, usually dont get started until after 7:00, take it easy, oh any news if Rene Bach is riding tonight? Oh just read he is riding tonight.
  10. All going well 7pts down after heat 10 then totally battered!!
  11. Were all doomed, still we can watch the GPs on Saturday nights.
  12. A four man Rye House team got within 8pts of Worky last week, could have snatched a draw in ht15.
  13. After a long break from Speedway the Comets are up against Rye House who kept the scores fairly close when the were last at Derwent Park in May (koc) only going down by 12 pts. It looks as if super reserve Kasper Lykke wil be missing for the Rockets with a broken collarbone and Anders Mellgren will also be missing from the side with broken ribs and a punctured lung! For the Comets it could be a full side although if the Great Britain side qualified for the WTC final there may be a doubt with Kyle Howarth who is the current team GB reserve.
  14. So who is the favourite.....Kings Lynn/Leicester.....Lakeside...fourth team Wolves?
  15. Ok for what its worth here are my thoughts.... I,m sure there are some promoters out there who work very hard and try to promote the sport but whatever they are not doing or doing its clearly not working when even the hardcore supporters are becoming dissilusioned with the sport. My main bugbears are: 1. TR rule, i hate it (but i still attend) 2. Fans being ripped off when meetings are rained off either when meetings have started or fans are let into grounds and only to be told its off and no monies returned!! 3. Dissjointed fixture list, going for two to three weeks without a home meeting. 4. Hypocritical decisions on rider safety, ok during the season to cancel a meeting but at the end of the season its "get the meet over with regardless of conditions". 5. Teams made up of r/r , guests etc due to injuries , riding for teams abroad, riding in the EL........etc. 6. Meetings that drag on for hours..... 7. Poor presentation and music. I have been attending Speedway meets since i was 15yrs old and its only this year that i have started to become less passionate about the sport, i think i sometimes go because its a habit.....wonder if there is a cure to kick it!! Oh i forgot to add start times....sometimes 15-20 mins after the advertised start time!
  16. Its the Comets v the Bandits in this League cup encounter at Derwent Park, a pay day for the riders and hopefully some entertaing races between these Border rivals with the League cup places sorted now...i think! Should be pretty close 46-44.
  17. Looks like we will be in for a night of stormy weather and with no plane in sight we could be in for a bumpy ride, with all three Danes back in the side i,m sure the Comets can have a handsome victory at Derwent Park, how on earth will it all turn out, im sure it will be a case of "Alls well that ends well".
  18. Workiingtons first League match of 2015 sees them take on Plymouth Devils with a much changed side. Again its rider replacment for the injured Rusty Harrison and three guests because of the Danish Championchips, filling in for the Comets are Josh Grajczonek, Justin Sedgmen and Simon Nielsen.
  19. Berwick to win , anything from two points to 15 points the margin.
  20. Workington Comets versus the Bandits from Berwick .....guest for the Comets will be Jan Graversen plus r/r, so could be a tough one to win. Rain forecast for Sunday.......who knows, come over any way Bandits fans.
  21. Best wishes to Rusty for a full and speedy recovery, Edinburgh fans trying but failing again in the fairness League. Admit the defeat and other fans will be more fair wth "you". Young Nathan Greaves did well to hold off Sedgmen for a Comets 5-1. Must admit i left after Rustys crash a bit sickening to see right in front of me, plus it was freezing and i thought that would be the last race of the evening.
  22. The Comets take on the Dukes of Edinburgh in another tough one for the Comets who hope to take revenge on the Monarchs after last weeks defeat at Armadale. Weather......rain forecast all day clearing about 5.00pm........
