Not too much of a diversion Neil down to Lillyhall and then across to Workington. -
The item in this weeks Star "COLD REALITY CHECK" (Workington) only reiterates what has been said before that its not just that there are not enough fans going through the turnstiles, its the increasing costs of insurance, medical cover , rider wages etc. What is the answer ? Five man teams, a weaker League structure , i do not have the answer.

Forecast was awful for the weekend probably enough rain on Friday to ruin the track any way , the plan was to show the SWC after the meeting .

Yes , my name is Michael Fish. -
Workington go into their final meeting of the season against the Redcar Bears needing a win to lift themselves off the foot of the table. This will not be an easy match as Redcar go so well at the GT Tyres Arena and usually win, the Bears will require a guest for Charles Wright (away in Poland). Its not known at the moment whether Jonas and Max will be fit having taken knocks recently at Plymouth. Hopefully the weather will be ok on Saturday.
-
Agree will Jonas and max be fit for the Comets .
-
Probably the only options though with maybe Brennan not getting a spot.

A few years ago many clubs would run buses/mini buses to tracks all over the country but with the cost of living now its difficult for many fans to travel.

Glasgow Tigers Vs Poole Pirates 21st August

Regarding fan numbers, I was at Scunthorpe last night and estimate the crowd to be around 350 ish, whilst the Workington crowd is 450/550 I would guess ? -

Probably not. Who knows, Poole have a long history of success in both Leagues so have a big fanbase but like all clubs must keep promoting and make the package attractive especially to the younger fans as most clubs rely on an ever ageing band of fans. I'm not sure even if Worky had more success they would attract even a thousand fans.
