Some might say Buxton should be thrown out of the league for fielding such a week side. (Some might say it but not me. Just highlighting how ridiculous your original post was.) -

From Birmingham twitter feed. Buxton objected to the use of Gary Flint at reserve and despite having the relevant paperwork and confirmation from the BSPA office, he has now been blocked from riding this afternoon. We will be looking into this matter further. Sheldon Davies steps in. -

Wasn't there so difficult to comment. However the Buxton side of the story seems to contain no facts and only accusations. -
I was very lucky to have spent five minutes talking to the great man on the centre green at Perry Barr during our return meeting (The Alan Hunt Memorial Meeting) in 2007. I was star struck and he was a lovely lovely man. Very sad today.

Sick of listening to idiots (young and old) ranting and hijacking this thread. Here are some facts. Birmingham are being vilified (by some) for trying to use the rules in their favour. (Well DUH!) when no-one REALLY knows which rider they have been trying to sign, its all supposition. Even if it is the rider in question it would appear that they have only tried to stay within the rules. Something that many other sports would recognise. (Cricket and Rugby spring to mind.) Birmingham have been vilified for not bringing youngsters on. Well, I could of course point out that recently we had the youngest team in the league and (possibly) of all time. But that was under previous management so does not point to what the current management are doing. The current management have joined the MDL to bring on juniors and have stated that is a big aim of theirs. This despite the severe restrictions placed upon Birmingham via the planning permision. This should be applauded. But here is the crux of the matter for me. Why should any team in the NL (with the exception of Belle Vue) spend money and time and effort on developing ANY rider when they are not allowed to profit from such investment. Until the NL is allowed to gain assetts via such investment then they have NO incentive to develop any rider. Why spend that money and then let the boys from the higher leagues just step in and gain an assett without having developed that rider. Its wrong and does not help supporters to become emotionally attached to their team. The incentive is to sign Riders that have all ready developed and shown form at this level.

Thanks for that. We are Birmningham centric its true, but we are doing our best to broaden the appeal. When we started we had one mic and lots of enthusiasm and 11 listeners! Things are a bit better than that now and we regularly get 7000 listeners from around the world. Talking of appeals. If anyone wants to get there phone out and record an interview with anyone from their respective clubs we are happy to put that out, time permitting.

We have had supporters on before and happy to do so again. How about you Give us a B? As for a competition. You really need to stop reading my mind! Watch this space.

BIRMINGHAM have reduced admission prices for their season opener – which will also see Under 16s let in for free. The Edwards Plumbing Brummies get their 2018 campaign underway when they host Midland rivals Coventry at Perry Barr on Wednesday, March 28 (7.30). Not only have co-promoters David and Peter Mason raised the free admission age bracket for one meeting only, but they have also decided to cut Adult and Senior prices to just £10. However, supporters should note that season tickets will NOT be valid for this meeting. David Mason explained: “When we launched our season ticket sales, we only had one scheduled challenge fixture at Perry Barr which was included in the deal. “But once we decided to accept another request for an additional challenge at home, we were keen to reduce admission for our supporters. “To save any confusion, the challenge meeting included for season ticket holders will be at home to Kent on Wednesday, April 4 with our opener against Coventry on March 28 running with the reduced admission prices for everyone. “We’ve got a lot planned for that opening night and we want to make a racenight more than just 15 heats of speedway. “As supporters will already know we’ve got a lot of second half and Midland Development League action scheduled this season which automatically increases the value for money. “We’re also looking into various bits of additional entertainment and we just want to get the crowd as involved as we possibly can. “The supporters have been absolutely superb with us since we took over at the club and we can’t thank them enough. “That’s another reason we decided to reduce admission prices against Coventry and hopefully plenty will bring along someone under the age of 16 with them, and get them hooked on speedway because the kids are the future of our sport.”

Or lets see how long before someone makes a comment designed to try and bait those that are not enamoured of race suits......................... Personally I don't like team suits but understand the stated reasons for them. If it helps sell us a team for sponsors then I will just have to get over them.
-
But no information was given. Only a request for clarification. As for the bit I have highlighted I have to refute that statement. All it means is that I have a different opinion to you.
-
Like you I cant see where he done anything wrong. the language used by Mr Rogers was perfectly acceptable and he made no accusations as far as I can see. Basically he asked for clarification. Nothing to see here!

Heat 10 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16461/birmingham-cradley-ch-05-2017 Heat 14 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16678/birmingham-buxton-nl-24-2017 Heat 3 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16870/birmingham-lakeside-nl-21-2017 Heat 5 http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/16913/birmingham-plymouth-nlkoc-28-2017 Now I know that this doesn't constitute overwhelming evidence and I am sure there is more evidence out there as i dindn't look at the whole site. (I got fed up and decided it was time to find a life!) But it does disprove the "Never passes" and "Only white lines" nay sayers out there. As I say I have a great feeling that Mr Bacon is going to prove people wrong. Gonna be fun finding out.
-
I don't agree with several of the points made about Tom Bacon. I think he WILL up his average. I understand the points made about him white lining but its not true that he made no passes last year (Certainly for Brum.) and he has started to use other lines. He is looking to learn and improve the whole time. I think he will suprise people next year. (Injuries permitting.)

Your chance to ask him tonight as he is our special guest on the speedway tavern http://sports-radio.co.uk/ This has been made so much more difficult for clubs to go up the leagues when NL clubs are no longer able to have assetts.

On tonights show (Speedway Tavern.) We will be talking about the SGP Final. But we also have a special guest on the show tonight to talk about next weeks farewell meeting. Ryan Guest. -
On tomorrows (Thursday) show we will have a special guest on to talk about the battle to revive the Reading Racers. We will chat about the Premiership Play offs and the upcoming Tony Mole Farewell meeting.
-
BIRMINGHAM will renew their rivalry with Coventry in the Tony Mole Farewell meeting on Wednesday, October 11 at Perry Barr (7.30). The Surestop Brummies were set to face Cradley, but a depleted Heathens squad has prompted the switch of opponents. Popular trio Adam Ellis, Ben Barker and Adam Roynon have already been confirmed for the fixture in what boss Graham Drury is anticipating will be a keenly contested clash. Said Drury: “Cradley have got injuries and rider absences galore just lately so we had a quick think and we thought why not get Coventry to Perry Barr. “Tony Mole has got a terrific record of saving clubs and with Coventry currently without a track we thought it would be quite an ironic choice of opponents so to speak. “It’s a great shame what’s going on at Brandon of late and their fans deserve better. “We’ll be keeping some of our National League lads from this year in our line-up but we’re also going to bring in a few familiar faces from the higher leagues too. “It’s going to be a special occasion and with the line-ups we’re trying to assemble it should turn out to be a cracking night of speedway as well. “If supporters do have any suggestions, realistic suggestions I should add, of who they’d like to see back at Perry Barr on that night, then both Birmingham and Coventry fans can feel free to let us know on social media and we’ll see what we can do!”

Brummies V Bellevue Wed 23rd Aug
guitar_art replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
I'm not going to get into the general nastiness on here about R/R and so-on. Except to say that any fault here lies with the rules and there application not with individual clubs. What I would like to say though, and something that seems to have been forgotten, What a cracker of a meeting with the result in doubt until the very end. Great nights entertainment and I wish there were more meetings like them. No quarter asked or given and at the end of the meeting most Brummies stayed to give generous applause to the victors. Something that some 'fans' from another club in a land not far away could learn from. (But probably won't.) -
On tonights show, amongst other things, we have a James Chatting live interview. Nice to be able to get the view of someone just starting his speedway career.
