Speedway is not a rich sport and so has to make do with what they have. So as far as size is concerned Easty and Rye and lakeside have do the best they can in the space available. Of course the actual shape of the track is a matter of choice within the confines of the available shape and Easty have chosen to make theirs egg shaped. This of course confers a greater amount of home track advantage to Eastie than to a fairer track such as for instance Somerset or Birmingham. No point arguing history doesn't lie. Interestingly one of the Cradley riders (I forget who) was bemoaning the lack of home advantage of Birmingham and implying that this was a contributing factor in them not winning the league. To which I can only reply. This didn't seem to hinder Birmingham! As for those wanting to award the trophy to Eastbourne I have two thoughts really. I find this insulting to Cradley. They are not out of it until they are out of it. While it will be difficult it isn't impossible. They have already beaten us once this season by the required amount I remember a previous Eastbourne team saying they were sure fire winners of a previous cup competition. There opponents at the time were the winners of the league. A team by the name of Birmingham who went on to turn over a 16 point deficit to take the KOC that year. It ain't over until its over folks. Should be fun.

I would have to disagree. I would say Sam Chapman was the the best of the rest. However Kirby and all of the others made contributions over the season and without these contributions we would not have won. Its an old cliche but true nontheless:- Win as a team and lose as a team.

Adam Ellis praised for loyalty to Birmingham Brummies 09:31, 17 September 2015 By Ryan Guest Birmingham boss Graham Drury has praised the loyalty of top star Adam Ellis for seeing out the season with the club . The 19-year-old dropped back down to the National League after failing to secure a Premier League team spot prior to the start of the season. Drury has now revealed how the Surestop Brummies could have been left stranded without a No.1 on six occasions, but Ellis opted to stay with the Perry Barr outfit and commit himself to the famous red and yellow. He said: “Struggling Premier League clubs or teams with injuries naturally look to who’s performing well in the league below on an attractive average and Adam has been by far the stand-out rider of the National League this season . “If Adam had joined a Premier League club at any point during the season, the rules indicated that he would have had to automatically forfeit his team spot in the National League. “I explained all of this to Adam prior to the start of the season and he said to me: ‘you’ve got my word that I won’t go anywhere – I’ve signed up for Birmingham and I’ll still be here at the end of the season’. “As a promoter or manager, I’ve heard lines like that so many times but I have to give Adam a huge amount of credit because he stuck to his word. “During the course of the season, six different Premier League clubs contacted me and asked me if they had permission to speak to Adam. “It wouldn’t be right for me to tell them no and halt his progression in the sport but it was actually Adam who turned them all down. “He never even discussed terms with any of them, he told them all he’d made a promise to Birmingham and he was going to stick with it. “He knew what we wanted to achieve this season as a club and what a true No.1, both on and off the track, he has been. “It’s a word in professional sport that you don’t hear very often nowadays, but Adam has shown a tremendous amount of loyalty to Birmingham Speedway this season . “He’s told me how much he’s loved being with us this year and I’m sure he’ll go on to big things in the sport.”

If you really think that wanting to a) keep your star riders fit before the most important match of the season, nay in our recent history and expecting the rules to be followed is not a good reason then I despair. You have no idea if the riders have been informed and had an input into the decision, which is what I suspect has happened.

Lets examine your 'pathetic' statement. When we closed down last year it was under a very different management regime and so bears absolutely no relation to ANY action by Birmingham this year. We are in the NL for exactly the same reason and again that has nothing whatsoever to do with the Birmingham statement. As for wandering about why the sport's a joke? Probably has a lot to do with promoters trying to get around and not comply with the same rules they have had a part in making. Which is of course what Birmingham is rightfully complaining about in this case. I for one am fed up of being taken advantage of by other clubs as they bend rules to suit there own needs why we play by the rules. Daniel Spiller allegedly being a case in point. Never happened before as far as I am aware. And you are right its only a friendly. Exactly why we should not be risking riders just days before the most important match in our recent history.

At nearly every match this season GD has made positive comments about the opposition. He even went as far as to say that one team (cant remember which one it was unfortunately) was unlucky not to come away from Perry Barr without a result. As for moaning perhaps you should look a bit closer to home.

All of that may be true. However (To misquate someone famous) Some speedway tracks are more equal than others. I know which sort of track I would prefer to watch my speedway. However it has to be said. Speedway is a beggars cant be choosers sort of sport. The reason Eastbourne is the size it is (although it has to be said not the shape.) is because thats what is available. The same can be said for pretty much all tracks in all leagues in this country. Of course Somerset and Scunny have shown the way to go when you can start from scratch.

Hmmm. I think Tom Perry must be laughing to be described as a 'superior gater'. I think you are wrong I think we will prepare a grippy track as we always do. Unlike the night you visited Cradley who always have the track slicker than we. Time will tell.

Or we could look at Zachs engine probs and rider falls that probably cost us a win last night. Ifs and buts don't win anything. However it would be churlish of me not to admit that the best team on the night won. The best team over a season? Well we still have that to find out. Gonna be exciting i think. This is what we all follow sport for I for one intend to enjoy the drama come what may.

I think we have to acknowledge that if (and its still an if in my mind.) we go on to win the league then we have had a certain amount of good luck along the way. We seem to meet teams at exactly the right time. Tonights match maybe another example of that. Although i am NOT saying we will go on to win tonight. I think their is a lot of racing yet and things could be decided by other factors, I guess our luck has to run out sometime. I am also not an apologist for the luck we have had this year. To be honest I think its about time we had some of the 'good' variety and we have to a certain extant made our own luck this year. I guess its true that to win something major you do need a little luck along the way. This will still be tight though, mark my words. We never do anything easy!

New averages come into effect. this means Kirby is now in the main body as is Ellis Perks for Cradley. I think this weakens Cradley more than it does Birmingham allthough Mogridge at reserve maybe good news.

The Perry Barr outfit will be without No.1 Adam Ellis for the visit of the Young Stars and have booked Coventry skipper Dan Greenwood to deputise. Meanwhile, with Harvie Banks still struggling from a wrist injury and Robert Parker out of action after a heavy crash during the Midland Development League last week, Graham Drury has opted to use Rye House No.8 George Hunter at reserve alongside Adam Kirby. Not only will there be 15 heats of National League action, but there will also be a six-race second-half meeting between the Birmingham Bulls and the Exeter Falcons.
