Torun Gp Saturday 19th June
Bradford Ace replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Wow is all I can say about that!! I really would urge anyone that's thinking of going to Torun next yr to get yourself there as you will not be disappointed. The stadium is amazing and really can't believe how lucky they are in Torun to have a purpose built stadium like that to watch Speedway in every week. I'm sure everyone who was here last nite or watched it back home would give their right arm for a stadium like that in England. Great viewing from everywhere and just a great track that was fantastically prepared. Was lucky enough to attend an hours talk with Steve Brandon, Phil Rising and Briggo yesterday afternoon and they confirmed that the roof is going to be extended so it covers well over the track to protect it from the weather. Not quite Cardiff but near as damn it so this looks like becoming the new jewell in the crown for the organisers. Had incidents right from the start and just hope all the injured riders are ok today. Really can't believe anyone has put anything negative on hear about Holder. The guy is a breath of fresh air for the GP's like Emil and is a super fast talented rider. Always happy and relaxed and I for one wish him a speedy recovery. Don't care who he rides for, the guy is a great talent and any meeting without him is worse off in my opinion so all the best Noddy. We went to Grudziadz v Gdansk on fri nite and Zorro took 2 absolute pearlers there so he must have been black and blue even before last nite's horrible crash so can't imagine how he feels today!! The guy is one tough cookie and is doing great now he's used to the standard and doesn't look outta place at all. Big congrats to Tomek as best man won w/o question. Helped make the nite having 3 Poles in the final and then on the rostrum so the locals were happy. Wud luv to see him have a good Cardiff for once and keep at the top of the standings as the last few GP's are great tracks for him and apart from our fave riders I think we'd all love to see him finally become World Champ. Esp at Bydgoszcz!!!! Just got one meeting left today at Bydgoszcz which is against Wroclaw so if that's half as good as last nite I'll be buzzing!! Everyone get saving for Torun in 2011 cos you'll only regret it if you're not there. Believe me!!!!! -

Not long to go now & must say i havent looked forward to a Speedway weekend as much as this one for a long time as off 2 see the Bydgoszcz v Wroclaw meeting on the sunday as well and cant wait for that as much as the GP!!! Just a shame Emil will be missing for both as that has put a slight dampener on it.....but not much!!!! Does anyone know that time the practice will be at Torun on friday as fancy going to it to have a good look at the Stadium. Will then need to find a nice bar to watch the England game!!! Roll on thursday for my flight over there!!! -
Polish Extraleague Sunday 6th June
Bradford Ace replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Yeah, very one sided scoreline but some decent racing when the home riders missed the start. Hampel & Kolodziej untouchable & Adams just had one blob. Bydgoszcz struggling as expected w/o Emil & what is going on with Lindback??? Shadow of his former self & well off the pace in every race, even the reserves looked quicker. perhaps Mateusz can also confirm what happened to Gizatullin?? Couldnt work out who was missing til half way through the meeting. Walasek tried his heart out though & has been good signing & Koschieca also battled well...looking weak at bottom end though wothout Emil. Hope they all improve for the 20th when i'm there after the Torun GP!! -

Same as for us mate!!! 4 third places when he beat an opposition rider once!! Obviously as bad away in Poland as he is over here!!!! -
Gothenberg Gp 08/05
Bradford Ace replied to shankley61's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think the organisers have missed a trick not having covers on and pretty stupid of em to be so naive in my opinion. We r 10 min walk from stadium and walked it this morn to pick up the tickets and it's rained non stop since, some 5 and a half hrs and counting!!! Will b gutted if it's off but looks like it at present. Just hope they manage to work on the track if it ever stops raining and gives them the opportunity to do so!! -

Sat eating in Gothenburg and it hasn't stopped raining since we left the hotel 4 and a half hours ago so not looking good at the mo. Not really heavy but persistant enough and think that any league meet wud be off already so we're hoping cos it's a GP that they'll make every effort to get it on. Bloody cold as well!!! -
Polish Ekstraliga Sunday 25th April
Bradford Ace replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Slightly off track off here but its to do with Polish League Speedway so here goes!!!! Usually watch the free streams available on a sunday but away for next few weekends so wanna catch up with the meetings midweek so paid the subscription direct with TVP sport last night which was 120zl i think but means ya can watch every meeting that's covered on their channel at your leisure so well worth it for the £20 odd u pay!! Did the same last yr but cant remember for the life of me what to do next?? Have confirmation that the payment has gone thru but keep logging into TVP's website & it just gives a large msg in Poland which i've translated & its the one telling ya how to pay & what ya get etc. It goes on about getting a code to put in but havent got one & dont know where to find it?? Can anyone else who has subscribed to the Polish meetings on TVP help me at all or alternatively, is there an email address for TVP so i can contact them myself?? any help wud be much appreciated. -

All ok then mate?? Flying Liverpool to Wroclaw 2moz afternoon but still wary as whether to risk it or not given the recent events?? PK apparently was about to board his plane over here & they shut the gate so he's stranded & we've now got Kevin Doolan guesting at Swindon 2nite instead!!! Still dunno what to do but need 2 book hotel sharpish if i'm going!!! -

I'm booked wi Ryanair to fly to Wroclaw on friday so thats looking pretty much knackered as well!!!! What's the craic wi money back, have you applied for a refund or do you just lose out?? Paid about £70 for my flights so wouldnt mind the money back 2 put 2wards the next trip!!! -
No, i was 13 when KC had his moment of madness so even tho i had one of his jackets i doubt it'd fit me now as i've probably trebled my bodyweight since then!!! I do still regularly attend Odsal tho & last week went to sit with my mate & his kids in the main stand for the 1st time in yrs & it brought back a lot of memories from when i sat in there for the Dukes meetings. Still truly gutted that there isnt racing there but if it did come back (cant ever see it sadly) then i still couldnt miss the Aces now. Love my trips over there to see my mates & it'll be even better if (fingers x'd!!!) we get a new spanking stadium and track in the not 2 distant!!! Now that would make the 90 minute round trip well and truly worthwhile!!!
-
I agree Gemini & the clue is in my username!!! Started watching Halifax Dukes when my Ma took me in 1977 aged 4 & followed em to Bradford (seen as tho i live there!!!) until their sad demise in 1997. Now a huge Aces fan despite hating them when they used 2 come 2 Odsal & also the fact they're from wrong side of the Pennines!!! All started in 93 at World Final in Pocking where we met a couple of great guys from BV that were on our trip. Used 2 stand with each other from then on at our stadiums when our 2 teams met & once i'd got over the closure of my beloved Dukes in 97 i started going to the odd meeting at Kirky Lane from about 2000 onwards. Through my mate i got to know all the lads/lasses he stood with & now class them all as some of my best friends & we go to Cardiff every yr 2gether & also at least 1 other GP. About 13 of us going 2 Gothenburg this yr & i've got a season ticket this season so fair 2 say i'm now an Ace for life. No chance of getting Speedway back in Halifax or Bradford & even if it came back, i'd still go 2 BV as i'd miss my mates 2 much!! Plus, we should have a spanking new track & stadium in the not 2 distant future so all looking great in my eyes!! Mind u, i still go 2 Odsal 2 watch the rugby & just back from there 2nite & it still saddens me that such a great track & stadium has been seemingly lost forever to the sport. Great great tragedy as 13 yrs have passed & the stadium hasnt even been touched!!! Hope the Aces arent waiting as long for the Hockey stadium to be revamped!!!!! Do like going 2 Sheffield as well altho 2 meetings every week is tough financially but its only 40 mins away, same as BV, & a cracking stadium & track & also has the added bonus that its in Yorkshire!!!!!! Get a lot of stick from em all but all part of the fun. Got lads from Ellesmere Port in our group as well & must say i enjoy my Speedway more than ever now. Long live the Aces!!!!

Nice 1. Cant get it outta my head at the moment & brings back so many memories for me!!
-
Watching loads of old footage at the mo to get me thru the long winter nights b4 the season starts in a month or so!! Come across a lot of videos from JSD who filmed at Coventry as have a lot of old British Finals, Overseas Finals etc Probably seems like a stupid question but i love the music that is played during the titles and wondered if its an actual song by a recognised artist/band or whether it was just something JSD made up themsevles to accompany their titles. Its an instrumental & cant get it outta my head after watching an old Cov meeting last nite from 97. Would love to hear from any1 in the know!!!

Leszno Gp - 24th April 2010
Bradford Ace replied to GregM's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hi Thinking of doing the Leszno GP & staying in Wroclaw but wondering what the trains are like between the 2 places?? Also, does anyone have a rough idea of the taxi fare between the 2 places as think its about an hour by car. Getting to Leszno should be no problem on the sat afternoon i'd imagine, but its more the getting back to Wroclaw from Leszno after the meeting that i think might be the problem?? Never been to Leszno before so are there a few bars there near the stadium or somewhere to decent to go if the trains dont go until later in the evening/early hours?? Any help would be much appreciated. -
Anyone have a link for this meeting and can ya watch it now given that its over or was it just online live?? Wish i'd have checked last nite on here as i'd have got up earlier to watch it!!!
-
That would be fantastic if we could watch online altho presume not as we'd all have been watching this one!! Sounds like a cracking meeting & when ya look at all the Aussies not there like Crumpy, Adams, Sully, Watt etc then it shows the strength in depth that Australia currently have. As a matter of interest, what sizes are the 3 tracks over there that are hosting a round?? Always think of them as huge but in reality they probably arent!!!
-
If you find any footage from The Shay or Hyde Road then i'd love to get my hands on copies of this. My 2 fave tracks are sadly a distant memory but would be great to see some action from either of them again. Cheers, Jamie

Preview 2010 Polish League
Bradford Ace replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Some strong teams there in Leszno & Gorzow but gotta say Torun must be red hot favourites if thats their team. I know they blew it in the final but the same team with Andersen for Kosciecha & with Ward having good experience in the EL over here Gotta be their title to lose i'd say. -

Great news that. Looking like a pretty solid looking line up there depending on who the other signing is. Glad KK is looking like he's signed up, done well for us this season in England & hope he stays with us although i fancy Poole may have something to say about that!! As its a squad system though, will the likes of Jedrzejewski & Buczkowski stay on as will need good back up in case anyone gets injured?? -
Preview 2010 Polish League
Bradford Ace replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Seems like there's going to be quite a lot of rider movement this winter. Czestochowa seem like they might be losing a few - Nicki Pedersen & Lee Richardson being the 2 major ones. Rico says he's still owed money by them & is looking to go elsewhere. According to the net 2day its says Nicki is likely to go to Gorzow & not Leszno where he was tipped to go & Kolodziej is now going to Leszno. Sajfutdinov is out of contract so just hope Bydgoszcz offer him a good deal to stay or the rest of the league will be circling!!!! -

Yeah, i dont think Bomber would be a good addition for Bydgoszcz. I'm sure Mateusz & the Polish boys will know more than me but dont think its one of his fave tracks?? He has certainly done nothing in the recent GP's there & cant remember him impressing for Ostrow there in the league meeting last yr either?? Kasprzak would be a great signing, been very impressed with him at BV this yr & hope he stays with us in the Elite League for next season. Think Emil should stay as a junior for as long as possible so he can get the extra rides as may as well use it to your advantage while you have the 3rd best rider in the world at reserve!!! Vicar - you mention knowing more in 2 weeks so do they have a conference like the Elite League do when they introduce new rule changes etc??
