Scunthorpe Saints V ...rye Cobras Sun 4th July
June replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Absolute rubbish! don't be so childish. If he was british and on an average of about 9 or as Albert said in the PL, BUT not in the NL, at reserve and getting 7 rides. Rye house have nothing to be proud of in beating the Scunny youngsters ( without buzz ) so you cannot throw that at us. You are mistaken by thinking I'm jealous.I AM NOT!......Just want to see our own kids getting the help they should get. I really wish promoters would all sing from the same hymn book! -

Seems we've been hearing talk of Ty Nelson for ages.......Rob Godfrey during the out of season, then Mr. Machin of Sheffield recently, we've watched him go round the track at Scunny.......yes the lad is good but what a shock to get to our meeting today to find him riding for Rye house.....I agree with Albert yet another Aussie taking a team place in OUR NDL and a disgrace to see him ride as reserve.......makes my blood boil! -
Well done Saints.......You kept yourselves in with a chance of a point until near the end. Your days will come. just keep in there doing your best!

Oh marcus don't dispair you sing from the same sheet as most of us who post on here. With Dudley being a feeder club for Brummy teams, Kev would be happy with all Aussies in both leagues. In 5 years, not only will we have no brits riding, you'll have even fewer riders left in Australia singing from Kevs sheet. All that is required is for the BSPA to use some control. Shame on the Brummy lads....why couldn't you help a british lad. No because you want instant success.

I really do hope that he won't be on the scrap heap. It saddened me when he was one of 3 Scunny youngsters to be tempted away from us this year. Being dropped by Dudley must have knocked his confidence for 6. Dudley knew the level of speedway he had achieved when they signed him. Poor kid must feel gutted. to one so young and to be replaced by an Aussie.....oh dear I feel for him!
-
Definately not..........I have nothing but admiration for ALL speedway riders who give us sheer entertainment and enjoyment. end of.

I don't mind what the name is for speedways 3rd tier. May I remind you that Scunny's team for 2006/2007 was one of youngsters who did develop in the then C/L. Of course we fans respect the competion in the league ( good luck to all teams ) our team is one of youngsters again this year and it would be too bigga ask for them to win the league, but I'm sure they'll do their best. I suspect some people will consider this tier to be a development league because its where youngsters start off their careers, and stay until they make it to the 2nd tier ( premier league. ) My interest is that as a country we give as much assisstance to British youngsters as is possible ( instead of giving it to the Aussies ) look after our own. So one day we may produce a World Champion again. I'm not racist- but would like to see the 3rd tier for the brits. Foreigners in the PL and EL.

Iv'e always sung from the same sheet. always love watching the youngsters. they give something that the experienced riders don't....think its their excitement when they win! plus its great to see week on week improvement. As with Tai,look at him now in the GPs. seen some nasty accidents too but all part of their learning curve.

bfd........one of your selected examples is mine......if that means I am anti Aussie, so be it, but I would say to you that its only in our National Development League......I, like most speedway fans enjoy Aussie lads amongst our riders, but not in the only league where our OWN youngsters can progress.......You have your own developement system in Australia for your youngsters, and a good one it appears to be. Talking from my own point of view I want to see our kids get the chance to persue their chosen sport and a chance to become part of Team GB. As a paying supporter of both N/L and P/L I think I have a right to an opinion. I fear for our belovered sport..... british kids find it too hard to fight the system that exists. They have a go and too often give up. The only way for us supporters to get opinions across is by posting them on forums so promoters can read them.......Just to let you know I am not against the Aussies. At Cardiff for the past couple of years Ive shouted and blasted an air horn for Jason Crump, as well as the british lads! and I will this year too.

Jayne I admire Buxton for bringing on the youngsters like Scunny, Whatever Buzz is paid is of no business to me or any fan, but with having so many youngsters I believe Rob Godfrey made the right decision to bring Buzz into the team. Our youngsters need an older rider to pass on experience lacked and we were well below the team average.

The league as it is IS professional and exciting, at least it is at Scunny. Our last 2 NL meetings have been crackers, with all british youngsters and Buzz. With times just behind the prem times. This level of speedway is brilliant, without this system of bringing on our youngsters for promoting to the PL there is no other way that our british kids can progress . as said 2nd halves do not work. I want to see Briish speedway come good again, like it was in the 70s/80s. We want British Champions. our kids need this level of competative racing. I'm not against some of the lads whos level is N/L riding, ( 1 or 2 each team ) just lets keep it for the British lads.
-
In an ideal N/L development team I'd like to see all british riders, with all teams using one elder team member ( over 30 yrs ) who the kids can look up to for experience. The elder rider ( Wayne Carter ) was very successful for Scunny in 2006/7. Then I'd like to see the PL go back to using reserves promoted from the N/L. Then all foreigners could be slotted into teams in the PL & EL leagues. I agree with Aussies having a higher average, dont know about 9 but I think it should be 7 like the Swedes and Danes etc. As for fans through the gates, every team needs those. I would imagine its not easy promoting teams within budgets. Something that Australia is spared )
-
Completely agree with you Lucas....... As I see it Austalia use Britain ( at 500cc level ) as a route for turning their youngsters into Champs at the expence of our youngsters in the N/L.......this isn't an even playing field.......We need this league for our own youngsters........Australia - "we want champs too! but at the rate you are sending youngsters over its not going to happen".
-
I'm angry .....so angry my love affair with speedway is waning.....Why not fill the bl***y leagues with Aussies, then perhaps most promoters will be happy. Why should we british fans pay for Aussies to fullfil their ambitions at the expense of our kids. I couldn't agree more Lucas, its an absolute disgrace. At least Sweden, Denmark Poland etc have leagues where our lads can get fixed up with team places.( their not allowed in the N/L ) Australia should do likewise and it wouldn't be so one sided.....mad!
-
Questions; Why cant Australia run their own leagues?.......They have a big enough country.......I know the most lightly reply will be- because of travel distance, in which case they could pick say an area around one part of Australia for riders to settle( riders come all the way to Britain )..... I wonder why?

Totally agree bw........Brilliant rider very exciting to watch......cor I would love the meeting at Scunny! -
This was a very enjoyable meeting, some cracking racing, good weather ( not even cold ) and a good crowd.....A fitting tribute to Kenny and he would be as proud as punch that one of his lads won the first shield.....That final race was awesome ....Cash up for grabs the lads were up for it! so well done Magnus you deserved your win.

I agree spinking..I don't like handicaps for any speeadway racing, plus a meeting with the youngsters over 5 heats each, should start earlier to allow for mistakes. -
