  1. Got it in one. too true I feel bitter. Maybe you should have done it the right way when you entered the league....Got a piece of land and developed it first. Loan some riders to start with then develop- riders. Seems Rob Godfrey has done verything right. As for another 100 through the door. OK for you being in the City of Birmingham easy said than done! Have you not noticed were in a recession?
  2. How many of those riders have you developed?...just for fun!
  3. As a big fan of the youngsters and have known about Scunny not running NL since Tuesday. I've been gutted ( to say the least ) and so disillusioned with British speedway I'm finding it difficult to even give speedway a 2nd thought at the moment. NO SAINTS in this their 2nd year. I feel robbed of not seeing them develop and ready for a prem slot 2014. .As for the AM meetings why bother! The excitement for scunny fans watching the AM racing was to see our riders competing with others, often better riders!
  4. I'm, chuffed to bits with this team. All my favourite riders back from 2012. Brilliant.!!! Thanks a million Rob! I'm already excited for next year as 2012 was just awesome and we could be in for another season like it. A huge welcome to Ryan into the Scunny speedway family, I'm sure he'll fit in with the lads.
  5. I was at this meeting and my prog reads.; Ht 3. 1. Jorgensen, 2. Birks, 3.Gathercole.4. Reade. hope this helps!
  6. From one June to another lol. I wasn't at the meeting, but did go to the Scunny website and got this info for you. Taken from the News section..match report.. page 15.;Heat 12. result; Jorgensen. Pijper. Irving. Helfer . Hope that answers your question?
  7. In this weeks Local paper ( Telegraph ) Mr Godfrey said he has a team planned and would announce it 2 days after the AGM....nought to stop us all from guessing though!"
  8. Hi spinny......Riding the same team twice in the league could be boring. Riding against the same team in a different competitions is more exciting, with the possibilty of 2 trophies. If the first meeting turned out to be, say a hammering for one team fans would probably not go to the second meeting. I'd prefer that money was saved by scraping a couple of competitions, as long as we keep the " Riders Championship, pairs, 4s and KOC " This year with 6 teams in the play offs with 2 mini leagues it didn't work successfully for all teams due to the weather. So I agree with what someone suggested ( on another thread )that top team in the league get seeded through to final and 2nd and 3rd play off to meet them for the title. That should give us all plenty of meetings with enough trophies for teams to go for. Others will disagree this is only my perfsonal choice.
  9. Giving the fans less attractive meetings I'm sure is not the way to go when crowds are down. Aren't we suppose to be thinking of getting more folk through the gates? Personally I dont think any of these suggestions will do that!
  10. 1. Get rid of double points tactical rides. 2. 1 Brit from N/L to P/L yearly ( 3pt res ) all teams and 1 Brit likewise from P/L to E/L 3. 4 Brits per team ( incl the above ) 4. Assessed averages for all foreign riders to be the same ( 7pts or increased ) 5. Keep league and KOC meetings, home and away as current system. Keep the Pairs, 4tt and Riders championship, scrap other cup meetings. 6. Keep the play-offs but seed the top of league team through to the final, then have 2nd & 3rd teams play-off...winner to play the seeded team for title. 7. All teams to have an interval after heat 7 ( halfway ) for food, drinks and toilet, so as not to miss any races. 8 .Air fences to be made compulsory in all stadiums Thats what I'd like to see. doubt any of it will happen though.
  11. I dont disagree with this team bullet, but my reckoning is we need a min of 3 brits in the team. without Ive lost interest straight away!
  12. CONGRATULATIONS from you.....we won't miss them, never expected them anyway. It bothers no one at Scunny how bitter you are towards us. WE ARE THE 2012 CHAMPIONS. whether you like it or not!
  13. I like your post because I hate tacticals but there are many " ifs " If Scunny hadn't had 3 chains go we could have won at Somerset. thats speedway!. Tonight must have been a nervy night for all riders (both teams) The huge crowd, very noisy, atmosphere electric, you could sense tension at the start line. There was some very good races with fast times, Although we had some rain during the meeting all riders put in maximum effort and thats all we can expect, only one team could win and I'm thrilled that it was Scunny but I feel for Somerset missing out. After the meeting Mr. Godfrey said in conversation that the top 3 teams in the league had won cups. ( Somerset, Newcastle and Scunny ) so can't be so bad!
  14. Mellgren could be a good replacement guest for Masters if we need to use him. Seems to be a high scorer in most meetings.
  15. Good replacement. Lewis knows his way round the Scunny track. Get well soon Tom Perry!
  16. Crickey I hope not. We have already booked ( Mini bus ) Hotel accomodation after pairs ,then on to Cardiff in the morning.
  17. BUT Master got sacked.....he still needs to earn money. All riders take guest bookings....Look at our own MPT he's guested for Newcastle and wait for it " Workington" who for some reason appear to hate our guts! We as fans have no say and I suppose neither has riders clubs, they are self employed. In this post I mean no offence to you or Somerset. Let both clubs go into the final and let the teams battle it out. I certainly will congratulate Somerset if they beat us! with no hard feelings and still be proud of our youngsters, who this year has battled on without David practically all season.
  18. We all knew there was to be a play-off. Having 2 leagues probably a mistake. Had it been a normal summer it could have taken place before the end of season without problems. However the final will hopefully take place and as a SCUNNY fan I'm thrilled to bits that its between us and Somerset, at least both teams did finish their PO league meetings. I do however feel sorry for Newcastle because they did top the league with 51 points. 2nd Scunny on 50pts and 3rd Somerset 48pts. Workington come in 4th with 43pts. but at least the 2nd and 3rd teams get the chance. Whether this final gets underway is another matter ( it all depends on the weather) So lets wait for the outcome. Maybe Davidj will get his/her wish and we will get beaten by Somerset, I will acknowledge them as league champs. BUT I still think we are in the final fair and square.....Bring it on!
  19. scarra, Yea, but you cannot presume that ( like you say its doubtful). Get the meeting played before the final date for fixtures. If you cannot do this then I think Scunny should go through. We have completed, as have Somerset.
  20. Local lads in local teams is how it should be?.....all I can say is "there would be a load of crap teams about including Scunny!" ....Anyway Good luck Tommy-stay safe!
  21. As I go to Scunny AM meetings and love NL racing part of me is now thinking " Great that Tommy is being given a chance" but then realistically think this youngster is not ready for PL yet. BUT Edinburgh has no interest left in this competion and is doing a favour for one of their own youngsters ( yes I know he's a Scunny asset)..... To Tommy I say "Go out and score some points for the sake of both Edinburgh and Scunny" Thats a tough task for one whos only in his first year of speedway!....Rules, let fans make them, think they'd do a better job!
  22. Read it porperly davidj. It does say "provisional dates" and " if Workington fail to win at Edinburgh" Not being too big for our boots at all. Actually you could say our Management has been on the ball!
  23. Sorry! i n my recent post I forgot to congratulate Cookie on his win. A huge well done lad. When Josh got FX I was hoping you'd go on to win!
  24. Not a lover of individual meetings but having 2 Scunny riders in the meeting went to support them both. It was just an OK meeting only a couple exciting races. Weather was kind for a change and looked a decent crowd. Shame no air fence, however best wishes to the 3 injured riders, speedy recovery to all of you!
  25. Josh made some good starts tonight and wasn't on the chase in most of his races. Considering he wasn't 100% fit ( wrist) Josh rode extremely well. He's such an exciting rider. " Mr Entertainment" hope he has another year with us.
