  1. Don't know how old this is but it's worth a look http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&...DU0ODAzNDY2Nzk4 Click on blue number 1 and when box comes up on right hand side click on zoom to street.
  2. Tom is Scottish and is still a regular attender at both Edinburgh and Glasgow. I do believe that he still takes part in some German meetings. Best man to ask for further information is forum poster Topcat as he and tom are good friends.
  3. George Beaton died in a car accident October 6, 1972
  4. No need to apologise for something you had no control over gordi. I hope you didn't think that I was having a go at the three lads who were on show as they were very stylish and steady and all could have picked up points in the main meeting. One thing though, Marc and a Glasgow Academy racejacket. Did I not read in the programme the first time you were up that Marc comes from Brighton? Or has Glasgow got a new suburb of that name that I missed?
  5. Results can be viewed here http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=38079 I think that Topcats posting may be misleading as this was not a BSPA run event so I can only assume that he means the championship rounds that have been held over the country. The down side for the organisers was the fact that only one rider in the whole event failed to turn up and that was one from the 250s. He made no contact with Glasgow in any way. We can only hope that this doesn't discourage them from involving these boys in the future.
  6. What a terrible year this has been My Condolences to Kenny's family and friends. May you Rest In Peace, Kenny
  7. Jacko still lives in the Workington area and is uncle of Stoke Spitfires rider Kriss.
  8. Would love to see a piece on Mark and Sean Courtney. I'm sure Mark in particular would have a tale to tell.
  9. I'd love to see a team start up in Aberdeen as I feel that's probably the biggest city in the UK not to have Speedway either in it or nearby.(Someone will now come in and correct me) It's certainly somewhere I feel has an untapped potential but it would have to be Premier because the Aberdonians would love nothing better than turning over Glasgow and Edinburgh. Since 1990 as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh being successful (league titles etc) Linlithgow also managed to do the double in the Conference league in 96 and may still have been on the go if their track wasn't sold off for development. Armadale also had a bit of success before their closure for financial reasons. Scotland really does need a team in the CL but seperate from Glasgow/Edinburgh as we need somewhere independent to bring on youngsters. But will it happen? Sadly I've got to say I'm doubtful.
  10. I would back that idea for the top 5 but would keep the reserves as they are. Basically what does a team manager do now? A few years ago he had to pick the team, decide gate positions for his riders in every heat and decide when and where to use his old style tactical sub. In other words, had to use some skill. Nowadays it's almost Team Manage by numbers.
  11. Newcastle raced Red Star in 77, 78, 79 & possibly 80. The results that I've got were 77 Newcastle 44 Red Star 34 78 Newcastle 34 Red Star 43 79 Newcastle 33 Red Star 45 I know that they were scheduled to meet again in August 1980 but I don't have the result of that meeting. Sorry I can't help you with the scorers either. Whoops Steve beat me to it with more information than I could give you
  12. Looking forward to seeing the finished article. George, Linda and all involved should be proud of their efforts. On behalf of fans all over the country I thank you for turning an idea into reality.
  13. Oddly enough Glasgow have rode at three tracks originally used by another club Coatbridge former home of the Monarchs Workington fromer home of the Comets and finally their current home Ashfield former home of the Giants Is there any other club can top that?
