Crumpie World Champion
Drew replied to Midland Robin's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well Done Crumpy. Triple World Champion! Throughly deserved it this year, best and most consistent rider by far. -
Nordic Gp, Vojens 29-08-2009
Drew replied to Peter S.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That is correct Cinders as rider number 6 always rides in white in ht 2 with rider number 7 in blue. Only ht 1 has the four riders in number order I believe. The riders said the track rode well in practice (even 'making some dirt' to quote Leigh Adams) but if the rain some suggest is forecast arrives then it is going to be a typical Vojens wet meeting! -
Just got back from the Millenium Stadium today after having to struggle through seeing a rep who uses a hospitality suite as his showroom at the stadium. He uses a box which is directly above the start line and with this my brain started to think and I asked the obvious question about any chance of access for the GP. It only turns out that the box is the one the ref uses so no go on that although I did suggest I might be able to do a better job than some of refs who have used it in the last few years! Back to square one on that idea but it was nice to have a foc tour of the stadium after business, very strange though to be able to drive in and park under the stadium near where the pits are for the GP. The stadium seemed awfully quiet compared to the last time I went in 2007 when someone called Harris won!

And in the report on Seb Ulamek it says that we can expect a slick track! That will make a change for a GP then!

Polish Final Sat 25th July Line-up
Drew replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Looked a nasty one from the link. Was that in real time or edited as the medics got both riders into the ambulances in very quick time which must indicate the seriousness of the injuries they suffered? Which rider is now conscious? Best Wishes to both riders on making a full recovery as soon as possible. -
Well Done to Jason on an awesome display. The most complete GP performance for a long time, 7 rides, 7 wins. I am surprised that either SKY or Steve Brandon didn't mention that he broke TRick's record for GP victories tonight. The track looked good for a change even if it didn't produce as much passing and incident but you can't have everything. Although I was not at Cardiff i'm sure the atmosphere was great as usual but I reckon the interval entertainment my 15 month old daughter served up was better than at Cardiff!

Makes sense why he is not at Cardiff then as he wants to get back into the GP properly. It is a bit daft of the FIM to hold a qualifier on the same night as a GP but i suppose it is Speedway!

I see that on Worldspeedway.com it says that Tai and Simon Stead will be the Track Reserves for this year's event. Does this mean Lee Richardson turned it down or wasn't asked? I would have thought as he finished 4th in the British Final (with his only poor ride of the night!)he should get one of those spots before Stead. I know it doesn't matter that much as quite likely neither will get a ride at Cardiff but it would be nice to know that Lee was asked before the 5th place rider.

Watched most of the GP tonight but could have declared that would be the result last weekend after it was decided that it would be in Poland this week! Ok Gollob was superb but in Germany I doubt he would have been anywhere near as effective. Greg has been shafted by Olsen and whoever else made the decision last week. Can fully understand why he is so cheesed off. Hancock is usually very good on the temporary tracks where is is not just about speed and I reckon would have been a cert for a semi final berth while I don't reckon Gollob would have made it that far in Germany. I also wonder whether Nicki was really fit last week after some of the comments made by commentary, but then again it was Pearson and Tatum! Another week suited him just fine. In my opinion the only thing that would have had the same result is that Holta would still have claimed 8th spot from Nicholls who I suppose will still get a WC next year.(Wild Card that is and not a World Championship!) All in all a great meeting on a great speedway track but it shouldn't have happened.

Thats good news for everyone except him! I hope that was decided before 11pm last Saturday evening. Hopefully that will also apply to future seasons of the GP series as well. -

Cardiff Attendance
Drew replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Quoted from the BSPA site as a record crowd for the event - 41,247 http://www.british-speedway.co.uk/news.php?extend.732 -
It seemed very hit and miss depending on which steward you went past. The checking of bags wasn't always that thorough as I know someone who got in with drinks inside a rucksack. The security people were asking people to drink them by the gate if they wanted to. My wife bought some perfume in the afternoon which was inside a small unchecked rucksack that she took with her inside the stadium. I am glad we didn't have to drink that!

As some of you have said it is not easy defending the title. Remember the night he endured the last time he rode in Cardiff with the no1 plate on his bike! Anyway it was his best performance so far this season and I personally thought he was very gracious in defeat and complimentary of Bomber's acheivement in his interview.

Well done Bomber on winning at Cardiff last night. The atmosphere in the stadium was better than ever and it ended with the perfect result for the Brits. I personnally wouldn't have minded any of the 4 finalists winning but with Bomber completing the job meant it will be a British GP that anyone present (or otherwise) will not forget in a hurry. Hopefully next year though we won't get two fans in front of us who felt the need to stand up at the end of the races even though they were only 4 rows from the front! A couple of digs in their backs soon sorted them out though and my wife waving the flag in front of their faces! I remember watching Chris in the mid/late nineties starting out in the PL at Exeter and early in his PL career seeing him wobble around Newport for 4 laps to win a race. From Exeter reserve to Grand Prix winner! (alright from CL to GP winner if you want to be perfectly correct I suppose!) Overall it was a great day spent in Cardiff, even managing to find a car parking space quite easily, with the only downside being the soaking we received walking back to the car park afterwards trying to dodge the puddles and the queue to pay for the car park ticket! The queue for the one payment machine in the car park was ridiculous and ended up being so long the people at the end of it were actually on a different level to the machine! (luckily that wasn't us! ) The traffic didn't seem to be too bad on the way home and we got back to Bridgwater just after 1am. Can't wait for next year now, when do the tickets go on sale! (ps Najjer. I thought your prediction on here of Hans winning was looking good until the interval but I am glad that British winner I hoped for came true!)

Traffic For Cardiff
Drew replied to Young Saint's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A word of warning for all supporters using the park and ride for Cardiff on Saturday. After travelling to South Wales today for work I noticed that the roadworks on the M4 between junction 30 and 32/33 have speed cameras on them at a 50mph limit. -

Thanks for the reply SCB. Thats why it didn't exist on the NCP website then! Glad I found that out this week and not on arrival in Cardiff next Saturday! Any suggestions to an alternative option as you seem to have some local knowledge? -
Traffic For Cardiff
Drew replied to Young Saint's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have parked in the NCP car park (Trededgar St, i think) near the CIA for the last few years? Looking on the NCP website it doesn't seem to exist now. can anyone tell me if this is afffected by the redevelopment of Cardiff? -
RIP Kenny.

Stead Or Kennett For The Gb Wildcard?
Drew replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In previous seasons I would have said that Stead would get my vote for the wildcard but on this seasons performances I would give the chance to Kennett. Before this season I didn't rate Kennett unless he was at Eastbourne or Rye but this year he seems to be a different rider and deserves his chance at 5 rides at Cardiff as Stead got it last season. If the posts about the British Final and the wildcard are correct it should make it a more interesting meeting. -
Well done Bomber on an awesome performance tonight that has fully justifed your selection in the series. I think the volume at Cardiff will go up a few decibels when Chris is out on track now!

I'd have money on the County Ground being up amongst his least favourite venues! Looking forward to this article as my grandfather used to sponsor him and spent a lot of time with DJ at speedway tracks and also on the golf course sharing one of Dave's other sporting interests.

New Points System For Gp 2007
Drew replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Doesn't seem quite right to me but at least they didn't introduce the tactical ride where any rider more than nine points behind the leader can score double if he appears in the Black?White hat!!
