  1. I don't know what to make of this. The signed riders appear to be Mellgren, Nelson, Bunyan, Garrity and Lykke. The combined averages for this five comes out at 26.01. That's okay on the face of it but Len is now seeking a reserve. If this is the case it would have to be a rider with an average less than 4.79 (Garrity) leaving well over eleven points for his number one rider. Therefore, if it is to be Lanham or Doolan he is going to be five points under the points limit. I know that Len builds his teams below the limit but, even this, would be a bit drastic. He doesn't want a spectacular rider but one with experience which appears to rule out Lewis Bridger. So who is left, Kennett or, surely not, Joe Screen!
  2. I hope some of you can get to this tomorrow. Kick-off is at 2pm. I don't want to be the only one cheering on!
  3. All you would need is Craig Cook, final average 8.50.
  4. I am guessing Lewis would not wish to leave the EL but is hoping for a DU role. If this is the case, he couldn't DU at Eastbourne yet join Rye House as both have Saturday race-nights. Craig Cook and Josh Grajczonek maybe. However, if it is to be Josh I shall need to know early so I can practice spelling his name!
  5. If I may return this to something positive, there is to be a football match at the ground of Ipswich Wanderers for the benefit of Lee. It is on this Sunday with kick-off at 2pm. Full details are on the Lakeside website: http://www.lakesidehammers.co/ Let's hope for a good turnout.
  6. So there we go. Berwick next Saturday and back at Hoddesdon on Sunday. Special congratulations to one of the nicest guys in the sport Kevin Doolan who, once this competition reaches its conclusion, will have ridden in 8 of the 22 fixtures. Good luck to you mate.
  7. Another solution is to run this final as a challenge match at the start of the 2013 season and keep the 'Ace of Hearts' as originally scheduled.
  8. Only one fixture left to complete, Glasgow v Berwick today. A Glasgow victory will result in all three clubs (Redcar are the third) finishing on 6 points. If Berwick manage to hold Glasgow to 11 points they will go through - something the bandits achieved on their last visit. However, today's match has no less than 5 guests and one RR so who knows or even cares!
  9. I am surprised that this fixture is still going ahead. Ipswich cannot now complete this 'competition' as Sheffield appear not to have a date free. Surely, it would have made more sense to have brought forward the 1st leg of the LC final against Somerset tonight leaving next Thursday free for the KOC final. The Witches would then still have the option of running the '16 lapper' on Weds 31st.
  10. Try here: http://thelakesidehammers.proboards.com/index.cgi
  11. And I'm not sure it would have been the car park's fault either. There may have been a problem further down the line with the closure of the slip road leading up to junction 30 for the M25.
  12. I assume Premier Sports will not show this live now as they will have lost their slot.
  13. I have no allegiance to Ipswich at all but I am an occasional visitor and intend to come to the Newcastle match this Thursday. Then the '16 Lapper' is one I attend always. It appears to me Ipswich is a well run club and the Louis' keep it within the finances they have available. The presentation is good and Kevin is one of the best mike-men around. The track still needs attention in order to provide good racing, though, with many heats over after the second bend of lap one. However, the potential of the side, if kept together next year and beyond, is championship material. Those who moan on this thread might like to consider why the squad of 2012 has been assembled. Perhaps it is looking to the future which is Taylor, Dakota, Rohan, Cameron and Stefan with a couple of experienced heads, Leigh and Kevin who, I am sure, will be back next year.
  14. In tonight's 'wooden spoon challenge match' Rye House need a three point win to guarantee they will not finish bottom of the PL. This will take them one point ahead of Sheffield who have completed their league fixtures.
  15. What do you think of the Ipswich presentation, Shadders? Despite the absence of air horns along with the general apathy of the supporters, I think it is pretty good. I haven't visited as many track as you (by a long way) but mic-man Kevin Long is one of the best I have come across.
  16. Not true. A rider named in a PL 1-7 at the start of a season may continue in a DU capacity unless the EL side in which he is named subsequently redelares their team.
  17. Could be. There are 3 PL and 4 EL matches on Monday. Jason Doyle, Josh Auty, Nick Morris, Stuart Robson, Sam Masters, for example, all unavailable. Many others as well I expect.
  18. You don't mean Steve Masters do you? Len's pulled similar rabbits out of the hat in the past. Remember Ray Morton, Robbie Kesler, Ross Brady etc.
  19. This would never have happened. Nick was Swindon bound the moment Rosco left Coventry.
  20. The comments made by Len Silver did not, in any way, disguise his dislike of John Berry. He even took a swipe at his promoting skills by suggesting the Louis' do just as good a job in more difficult circumstances. What was the problem between them as it seems a rather long time to hold a grudge.
  21. Just to clarify the Simon Lambert situation the ruling is this: 17.9.2 Team Declarations may include: 17.9.2.1 Any Rider with a PL MA of 6.00 or below if they are not declared in a PL 1 – 7 at the start of the season. A Rider with a PL MA of 6.00 or below and under 25 years-old may remain in the NL team if signed by a PL team during the season, nb. The PL team takes preference in all official Team Fixtures. I am guessing Len read the second sentence, in bold print for no apparent reason, without realising Simon was already declared in Leicester's 1-7 at the start of the season. Brilliant match last night. I agree with you, Shadders, Heat 15 was race of the season, not just at Rye House but anywhere I have been this year.
  22. All I can say is that If we had to wait this long at Trafalgar we would, probably, all be speaking French by now!
  23. Thanks. Simon's exploits for Leicester this year had passed me by but, as the years progress, this happens with alarming repetition. Worse still, I think I was at that meeting! Everything in the Rye House garden is fine then and I am sure Nelson will emerge eventually!
  24. There could be an issue over this. The current averages are:- Charlie 9.22 Kasper 7.00 Anders 6.30 Simon 5.64 Luke 5.57 Jason B 5.15 Jason G 4.26 TOTAL 43.14. I have used Simon's outgoing PL average during his time with Sheffield in 2011. I am not aware that he has ridden in the PL this year.
  25. I wouldn't be too hard on the Aces. Paddy looked good and Artur inflicted the only defeats on both our top two and was very sharp once he had got his setup right. Then, you were without your DU riders of choice. Add to that, Rory must be feeling the pressure to win every race in which he competes. There are weaker teams out there just now so keep the faith.
