  1. If Doyle is to be at Rye they cannot retain either Harris or Nicholls and still keep KK. The maths doesn't work. However, they could go for largely the line-up which finished the season then fine-tune by replacing Wells using Kennett instead plus the 2 point reserve Clegg in order to bring the side within the points limit, but this would contradict the aim of Steve Jensen in having an out and out rider #1.
  2. Does seem odd. Of his 15 heats for Wolves he scored 7 at an average of 1.87. Perhaps that's how it works.
  3. Deceptive rider is Ricky Wells. He joined Rye House during May and started quietly as quiet Americans do. However, from August he rode in eight meetings achieving an average of 8.11 and, possibly, won more heats than any other Rocket during this period.
  4. The only way to have allowed Scott and Edward a team place in the Championship would be to introduce a ruling something like the following. (a). No rider who has a Premiership CMA of 8 or more can ride in the Championship unless he has an established average in that league attained in 2017. (b). Any rider who has a Premiership CMA below 8 is eligible to ride in the Championship in 2018 subject to either: (i) Having a team place in the Premiership for 2018 as well. or (ii) Having a CMA in the second tier during the previous two seasons. Point (b)i) would ensure a new or existing rider doesn't just take a soft option
  5. That seems a forward looking solution. I hope your track doesn't close!
  6. The other factor, though, is that there might not be enough riders of a suitable standard to fill the existing clubs. There were about 35 riders last season who doubled - five team's worth.
  7. I assume the line-up must be right as it has been announced on the BSPA website.
  8. At the moment the only way I can get it to work is that: 1. The conversion is still 1.2 2. Zach and Max then get a 2.5% reduction. thus 42.44
  9. I think Alfie would do very well. However, when interviewed on BBC Essex recently, Jon stated that the team would include a rider who had not previously appeared at this level before. That is why I think it might be Tom.
  10. The correct info is on the season ticket application form:- 13 meetings (10 league, 2 LC, 1 KOC) plus challenge/16 lapper.
  11. Not that many Saturdays I would have thought. The Rolling Thunder Show (bangers, stocks etc.) have 16 of them between March and October.
  12. It would be something of a masterstroke if we could get Zach on that average but I don't think we can. If he is then we could look at this line-up: Nick Morris 8.72 Richard Lawson 8.65 Adam Ellis 7.23 Kyle Newman 6.10 Ben Morley 4.28 Zach Wajtknecht 4.17 Tom Brennan 2.00 41.15 I had previously calculated Tom's average as 50%of his NDL figure. However, as being new to the to the Championship, he would come in on the minimum figure. This does leave us 1.35pts below the limit though. Robbo would start on 7.02 - I wonder?
  13. Too high I expect, 7.23 if his converted Premiership average is used. Also, I think he has too many continental commitments. Anyway here is my prediction:- Nick Morris 8.72 Richard Lawson 8.65 Justin Sedgmen 6.17 Kyle Newman 6.10 Ben Morley 4.28 Zach Wajtknecht 4.17 Tom Brennan 3.61 41.70 Ben and Zach's averages are converted as neither rode in the Championship last season.
  14. There were 38 Premiership riders who achieved an average of 6 and above last season. Of those, 18 rode in the Championship and remain eligible to do so in 2018. Of the remaining 20, very few would be interested as they have, or will have, teams lined up in Sweden/Poland etc. So, apart from Scott and Edward, there might have been a glimmer of interest from riders such as Timo Lahti or David Bellego but I suspect that's about it. So why shut the stable door now? The horse has already bolted!
  15. They may be busy already with Sweden and Poland. This 'mystery rider' could be someone coming in at the bottom end of the team such as Tom Brennan.
  16. If they have reinstated the rule as it stood in 2016, then Ed is in eligible to ride in the Championship as well: .18.6.4 If a rider has only an EL Established MA from the previous season, which must not exceed 6.00, then a conversion is necessary; the EL MA is multiplied by 1.4
  17. I asked the question to which you appear to know the answer. So where did the info. come from?
  18. He isn't. Someone posted this on the Ipswich thread but I don't think it has any substance. Anyway, Chris Louis will be announcing his 1 -7 at 6pm this evening so we might find out more then..
  19. I'm not so sure about this. The relevant rule seems to come from the 2016 regs.: 18.6.4 If a rider has only an EL Established MA from the previous season, which must not exceed 6.00, then a conversion is necessary; the EL MA is multiplied by 1.4 However, the '6 point ' rule was removed from the 2017 regs: 18.6.4 If a rider has only a previously established EL MA; the EL MA is multiplied by 1.4. Didn't this all come to a head when Craig Cook signed for Peterborough in 2016. Also, Lewis Bridger wouldn't have been permitted to sign for Berwick this year and he's never had an average from the second tier of racing. Therefore, has it been re-introduced at this year's AGM?
  20. Plus the fact he spent the whole season riding #4. His form at other tracks is not good either, eg at Rye House his scores were 5 then 3.
  21. If that is the case then it is extremely good news.
