  1. If you say so. Stuart must have acquired the Hammers' licence from Ronnie Russell in 2007. He was joined by Jon Cook who left Eastbourne as team manager to take up the same role bringing with him Adam Shields. Anyway, we shall find out next week.
  2. This may have been before Stuart Douglas announced he was to step aside from the club. I doubt Jon can do it on his own as he would need financial backing and a promoters licence.
  3. I didn't word my earlier post very well. What I meant was Jon Cook returning to Eastbourne and applying for them to join the Championship. Now that Stuart has stepped aside from Lakeside this may happen. In the meantime Lakeside's licence has been put on ice unless someone comes forward by the 12th November.
  4. Apart from the Rye House Stadium being in a rather chaotic state you are never going to get a decent racing strip until someone can invest in braking up the tarmac/concrete base left behind when stock cars used to run. It wasn't quite so bad in Len's time when, I think, the straights were shorter and less banking, not to mention, the infamous adverse camber on the second bend. Eastbourne might be an option and now they, sadly, have lost their commander in chief, I can see Jon returning and applying to join the Championship. Signings, Scott Nicholls, Edward Kennett to join Jason Edwards and Tom Brennan maybe.
  5. Going NL in 2017 was largely Hobson's Choice. It was an early AGM the previous year at which point Lakeside could not get a guarantee on track availability for the following season. The option was to continue the club for the future. In fact, as things turned out, if they hadn't run in 2017 it is highly unlikely they would have been able to strike up a deal with the Woodruff family for this season.
  6. Yet again forecasters cannot agree and the BBC cannot even agree with itself. The summary says dry all day but the weather map has heavy rain (and snow!) pushing in from 4pm and moved away by 10pm. Met Office shows heavy rain from 6 to 8pm whilst Metcheck predicts light rain from mid-afternoon onwards. I hope we can pull off a win and enough to mount a challenge tomorrow. Nick and Richard will have to be in top form and Adam less twitchy at the gate. Ben will need to carry forward last Wednesday's form and at least half a dozen points from Zach. Alfie should manage a few which leaves Kyle to up his game. Surely he must have learnt by now that charging up the inside on this circuit gets you nowhere.
  7. It doesn't. On that occasion Poole booked Morris for their home leg and Ellis away, the reason being Morris' average would have been too high to use him at King's Lynn. However, once it was realised Ellis had been booked to ride for the Stars in the Poole leg both promotions agreed that it would have been daft to have a rider turn out for both sides in a final.
  8. Lakeside have stated on their website that they will object to his inclusion using the fact that earlier this season Richard Lawson had become ill prior to the league fixture at Workington. This too was abandoned (Dan Bewley injury) yet he received a 7 day ban, missing two further matches, at Newcastle plus one for Somerset.
  9. Ricky Wells' average is too high whilst Chris Harris is ineligible as Glasgow were a play-off team.
  10. So Lakeside have referred the decision to the MC. They will either be told that the fixture will need to be rerun and, if so, it would need to take place some time this week, possibly Wednesday otherwise Peterborough will go through to the final. However, the tie could be awarded to Lakeside. Already 22 points up on aggregate by heat eight and, at best, three points from heat nine after Wilkinson had been excluded, Peterborough would have needed at least five 5 -1's and a 4 - 2 just to achieve a draw overall.
  11. No there isn't a facility unless Lakeside decide otherwise meaning both riders receive a 28 day ban by withholding their services. However, I agree with you. They are likely to pull out of the Wimborne meeting now.
  12. The trouble with the BBC forecast is that it cannot even agree with itself! The summary shows heavy rain for most of the day whilst its own weather map is more in line with both the Met Office and Metcheck, rain pushing away by mid-morning.
  13. There would have been the risk of damaging it yet further. Overall it makes more logical sense to have Adam and Nick riding for the same club in both legs so, as all parties seem happy with this arrangement, I cannot see the problem.
  14. There is another factor. Peterborough wont be able to call upon James Sarjeant for this match.
  15. 2016 I believe, Ipswich twice scoring 15 (includes 4 point tactical ride) and 4.
  16. So Sunday, 14th October it is then and we may now see our home season concluded on Sundays now. Workington have us visiting on the 20th as a double-header, Shield final and the outstanding league match then, depending on how we have done by next Sunday, one of their matches may become the PO final leg with the return on 21st. So we could find ourselves back at Workington the following Saturday then back here on 28th.
  17. If it is rained off, next Saturday is no good as Peterborough are already hosting Scunthorpe in the final leg of the KOC. It cannot be allowed to drag on to the 20th so they may have to consider this Sunday instead, midday start.
  18. The only date Lakeside could be blamed over was v Glasgow, 7th July, due to World Cup. There were two Friday away fixtures in June and three at home, then in July the only home match was v Sheffield on 13th. 20th was the Championship pairs then 27th v Peterborough was ruled out by the BSPA. Now we come to August managing just one again v Ipswich on the 3rd. The 10th v Peterborough and 24th v Newcastle were rained off whilst the scheduled trip to Workington on 17th cancelled at short notice by Rob Godfrey and his chums.
  19. Quite right. Should have re-checked the fixture list as the match wasn't there when I last looked.
  20. The poor weather has been on the cards since the beginning of this week. It is a pity our meeting hasn't been brought forward to tomorrow. The stadium must be available.
  21. It didn't say that in my programme notes. Instead it stated best use of the facilities available to cover their absence from the Peterborough fixture would be utilised.
  22. The regs state that no rider whose team is in the play-offs may guest. Therefore, Musielak should be okay.
  23. I am sure you are right and must have existed prior to speedway returning to Hoddesdon in around 2000. Presumably, that is why Len had a start time of 7pm and 6pm for double-headers although these were a rarity on Saturday evenings. Usually double headers, and there were many of them, were held on Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday afternoons so the curfew wasn't tested except, possibly one v Birmingham/King's Lynn which must have come close as the second meeting didn't start until gone 9pm following delays in the first.
